Wondering why no one tried DietOramy eating plan? I was aimlessly hitting Google and discovered it - I must say it truly is the very first eating plan that I've tested out that doesn't make me feel continuously famished, and I am nonetheless losing extra load.
I am not really informed about other individuals but I can tell you that my family produced marvelous accomplishment with DietOramy food regimen program (google it, there are a lot data regarding this) - every one of us consume it and our docs are happy with the effects which emerged so easily.
I just would like to thank Russell Simmons for taking a stand for American Muslims against Lowe;s Department Store. I am also a vegan since four months ago and I feel healthier and have lost weight, Thanks you Russell for being a spokes person for the healthier lifestyle of Vegans and vegetarians, Best Sheron Denice Payne/ Memphis, Tn.
1st TIMOTHY 1:3-4 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
Oh Russ, what happened to you after Yoga yesterday my brother from another mother....i miss you and love you, lets chill if your down....im sorry to call you a turd in my note, i was a little tiny micro meteorite upset with me wasting 9 hours to spend time with you and you not giving me three minutes
Sounds like a really nice guy, veganism is sure suiting him he looks great, way to go Russell, now all we have to do is to stop your stupid wife buying puppies from pet stores, and get her on board with some animal welfare and a kind life. Xx
i want to turn vegan but i find it very hard to stay away from meat... i was raised all my life eating meat and now that im 23 i find it hard to leave it.... i have tried it for a day and before the day ends all of my thoughts are on meat, and ribs and burgers hahahaha and i start getting nervous and impatient, is that part of the process too? is it normal to get all crazy the first few days with out meat?
@affirmativeaction Just like you when I went vegan, I had eaten meat my whole life. I ate out mostly at McDonald's, BK and Carl's Jr and burger joints. I loved chili cheese burgers. And when I ate out at nicer places it would be a 'good' steakhouse. But one day I just thought about how wrong it was to kill an innocent animal just so I can satisfy my tastebuds. Then at that moment I went vegan. I thought to myself I have no other ethical choice. That made it easy for me.
@TheVeganHere thank you, i guess is like when a person stops smoking, they will go insane the first couple of days just while the craving flushes out.... i guess tomorrow i will start my first day and mark it on my calendar and perhaps start a daily journal, but im committed, i know that if i stop eating meat my overall health and weight will shift. thank you!
@affirmativeaction I went vegan for the ethical reasons but health wise it is the best decision I have ever made. Just find your favorite fruits and veggies and make sure to have plenty on hand. Hunger is the enemy. That is when the temptation comes. BTW if you want to find vegan restaurants in your area check out the site happycow dot net. They have a restaurant finder for anywhere in the world. Also if there is anything I can help you with send me a message.
@TheVeganHere thank you so much! i appreciate your suggestions and help1 your awsome and i will send you a message and keep you informed on my journey! thank you!
@affirmativeaction You are very welcome. And really feel free to message me with any question. I will do my best to help. Good luck on your journey! :-)
This is typical, as our body goes through a detox and begins to crave what it's used to having in it. I was a vegetarian on and off for many years and really wanted to go Vegan, since 2006. However, the switch was a challenge until I experienced a change in consciousness. For me, it was when the Gulf Oil spill happened, all the effects on the environment, the millions of sea life that was killed and the destruction of their eco system.
@affirmativeaction I gave up meat over 10 yrs a go and when I 1st started out I relapsed within a week..the reason was because I wasn't really connected with why I wanted to become a vegetarian. Another reason was I was not knowledgeable about how to prepare non meat meals. I would say if this is something you truly desire, seek out recipes/dishes that are non meat as well as replace veggie meat like substances and you can still get the same meat effect if you're that addicted...lol
I see a lot of myself in Russell. He is a cool/hip spiritual being. Most people believe that you have to be a monk somewhere in India meditating in order to be elevated consciously and that's just not so... consciousness and spiritual evolution comes in all forms. Thanks Russell for being you and letting the world know that spirituality and truth is cool! Namaste, Imhotep, Amen, Ashe, Om Shanti and peace & blessings
@affirmativeaction I know what you're saying, totally been there...watch "Earthlings" that will cure you of wanting to eat meat or participate any further in the demise of animals.
Just wondering if you managed to stick at it and not return to meat consumption? I'm sure other people were more helpful than I can be. I turned Vegan 3 weeks ago and I'm just curious. Respect for trying either way
@AlexSid225 i have! its been i think a month wit no meat! and i feel like a new person, i feel much lighter, i lost weight, i feel the urge to be outside more, i feel more connected to evything around me! it is the most important and lie changing choice i have ever made!!
@affirmativeaction Glad to hear about your success!. I'm on just over a month now as well although for me it was just cutting dairy I was Vegetarian previously. Anyway Keep up the good work
@affirmativeaction It took me 15 years to finally become a vegan. You have 2 choices. 1: Take the whole plunge and go 100% vegan immediately or 2: Do it step by step. I did it step by step. I stopped eating red meat (age 21), all other meat (age 23), eggs (29), diary products (36). Take it at your own pace. Don't force yourself and don't be too hard on yourself if you slip up. Watch a documentary called Earthlings for motivation.
@affirmativeaction Our family went vegetarian 12 yrs ago, now we're working on raw vegan. Living enzymes carry nutrition to our cells better than anything. We were eating Boca chik'n and Gardenburgers and other things all this time. Even Burger King has a veggie burger! Not the best but it took care of the cravings. With 4 boys, not eating meat for 12 yrs, it's worth it. Now we're ready to go further. My teen sons watch YT vids of raw vegan athletes, what they eat. Lots out there. Don't give up!
@affirmativeaction yesss trust the process. I actually phased out of eating meat over a course of a few months. Eat it sometimes when y ou crave it. Just pay attention to how dull it makes your body feel (trust me, the less you eat it during the transition, the more you will notice it dragging you down) and you will be convinced to do it less and less until you don't want to do it anymore. then maybe move onto cheese and dairy. Chances are though, that those might gross you out too much too.
@affirmativeaction Yeah, it's normal to crave meat at first. Why don't you try cutting the meat down to smaller and smaller amounts each day, then start trying a day or two meat-free a week. You'll either cut it out completely over time, or at least cut it down. Make sure you educate yourself on nutrition and recipes and eat a lot everyday.
@affirmativeaction You have to make a decision. So if you decided to not eat meat you wont crave it bc its not an option. The one place where u can be surrounded with me is a restaurant, so that might be something to try to avoid. I've made the transition a little differently. I stopped eating all meats except shrimp and salmon ( In particular. not just "fish" bc one of the reason ive become a vegetarian is to not categorize 300 different species as say, fish.). Thats all im allowed to put! bye
@affirmativeaction Our situations are so diagonally opposite (no offense intended) - I have been raised a vegetarian and all of my relatives and ancestors have been vegetarians for the past few centuries. And for me being a vegetarian is just perfectly natural - you know.. you cant miss something you never had! I'm just glad for my vegetarian upbringing as now i find that being vegetarian is not just a lifestyle choice but its also very important for the balance of our ecosystem
@affirmativeaction I have been vegan for about ten weeks. Probably the reason you have these "cravings" is all the positive and pleasurable associations you have with meat. I use to be the same. I would eat meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I loved a good steak and chicken I could never get enough of. But, I watched Food Inc and then I watched Earthlings. Now, when I look at meat, smell meat or hear that people are cooking meat, I feel sick.
@affirmativeaction yes quite frankly its a normal part of the process. my suggestion would be to try to fill yourself with legumes and whole grains to get satisfied. Im a vegan and i remember that the first few days as a vegetarian( i did this before being vegan because its just easier) i would be hungry despite the fact that i just ate a load of food. But in a few days everything wiil be fine. And if you were to ever become vegan, you will feel great. just on my diet alone i lost 30 lb
@affirmativeaction Focus on exploring new foods, try cooking vegan meals, do it all slowly, maybe start with one meat free day of the week, read books, and watch documentaries exposing the atrocities committed on factory farms, and in slaughter houses, just to become more educated on where your meat comes from, what's in it, and how that animal lived it's life. I think what you'll find is something that won't have you thinking twice about eating meat again.
@affirmativeaction Also, I've been veg now for a little over a year. I'm a 19 year old male, and I feel terrific. Before I started I was overweight, now I'm the healthiest I've been. I feel more energetic, I need less sleep, and overall just feel good. I think it's so funny though how still to this day after more than a year of my life, I have people asking how much longer it's going on for, it just baffles them when I say it's for life. you'd think after a year I had pretty much made my mind.
@affirmativeaction It may be hard. But it shouldn't seem quite so hard when you think about how many lovely, intelligent animals you are abusing and consuming by not following a vegan diet, and how many you could save if you did follow a vegan diet. I think the much more difficult thing is living with the endless abuse and murder you are currently encouraging. Compassion towards all beings is a much easier task.
Veganism is the way of the future. It's natural that many people are still not comfortable with the idea. Time and education will gradually change this.
i am going go vegan for break fast and dinner. lunch i will eat my usual grains meat fruit and veg. i am going to try it for one month and i hope to have fantastic levels of energy.

@TheVeganHere some people swear that their energy levels is better when they eat meat 3 times a week. it is possible that for some people moderate meat intake is best for them. for example when asians get influenza they generally have milder symptoms and recover faster than white people. whites generally have more severe muscle aches and lethargy and take 3 days longer to recover. i am going off topic somewhat but you get my point.
I think it's misleading to say not eating meat makes you healthier. Not eating PROCESSED food is healthier because you aren't eating artificial flavors, colors, additives, etc. Most meat eaters don't just cook and eat the animal flesh; they add way too much salt, preservatives, sauces, etc. which negate any of the good proteins that the body needs (body also needs protein).Of course you can SURVIVE on vegetables and beans (as protein replacements)..but doesn't mean you should.Just cook healthier
I AM A VEGAN, NOT NECESSARILY BY CHOICE. I HAVE ALLERGIES TO MEAT & MILK. THE FERTILIZERS IN MOST VEGETABLES AND SOME FRUIT ARE SO SATURATED WITH ANIMAL MANURE THAT IT'S BECOME VERY HARD FOR ME TO FIND ANYTHING TO EAT. I NEED TO PURCHASE LAND AND BEGIN TO GROW MY OWN FOOD. I HAVE MANY DEGREES, BUT NO JOB OR CREDIT, I HAVE WRITTEN 6 SCREENPLAYS (2 ARE ON BARNES&NOBLE.COM). CAN YOU HELP ME MAKE THESE MOVIES, SO THAT I CAN MAKE THE MONEY TO HARVEST MY HEALTH?

@henrii123 Eggs are unfertilized embryos not unborn chickens. Yes if you were eating a fertilized embryo then yes your statement is true but who eats fertilized embryos
"Canine Teeth" is a misnomer, they are nothing like real canine teeth, and the purpose they served in our early ancestors was stripping canes and shoots, tearing plant matter, cracking nuts and perhaps being used as a defensive / aggressive gesture. Predominantly flat teeth, sideways jaw movement, relatively poor eyesight, long digestive tract and the lack of claws/talons are not the signs of a carnivore. It is quite possible to live a perfectly healthy life without using animal products.
@TheVeganHere Our bodies are definitely not remotely tuned to the use soy products and non-fermented soy products are actually detrimental to your health in many ways (lower testosterone, thyroid problems, etc..). That isn't to say that vegan diets aren't better than the Standard American Diet. They are. Processed meats and cured meat are definitely bad. But consumption of sugar can do the same.
There is new knowledge coming through on the fact food is not sustaining the physical body - breatharianism is gaining popularity, as fitness PRACTICE daily brings in higher energy into the body, away from anorexia and starvation. This may all sound whacked out and crazy but Im letting all you people transitioning to a vegan lifestyle FITNESS IS LIFE and that is the real way to be healthy dont let the food industry brainwash you with protein, nutrition, etc. YOU ARE GOD. Help awake the others...
@ajmiller61981 Our canines are not sufficient to cut through raw meat as easily as a true carnivores can. Our digestive system is not at all similar to a true carnivore. You obviously enjoy meat so you defend it. Do some research and you will learn that the incidence of heart disease and cancer is significantly less among vegans than omnivores. Life expectancy is longer in vegans. I would be vegan even if this weren't true but I have studied nutrition for over 22 years and have learned this.
@TheVeganHere I do enjoy meat, it nourishes my body. I should have told you that I was vegan for 2 years of my life for many of the reasons everyone here stated. However, my body rejected the vegan lifestyle and I had to reintroduce meat into my diet. I was very weak. My red blood cell count was low, and it was because I was not eating meat. Humans are not carnivores, we are omnivores-meaning we eat meat and vegetation. I don't think vegans are 100% wrong, but it's not 100% right either.
@TheVeganHere Hmmm our digestive system is perfectly suited for eating meat. It isn't suited for eating grass and other cellulose containing products. The truth is that agriculture never really was productive enough during our evolution to provide enough foodstuff for our survival. We developed enzymes that are specifically directed towards the degradation of saturated fatty acids that are exclusively found in meat. So no, your statement is incorrect.
@TheVeganHere : Really? Where are all the vegan centenarians? The healthiest and most long-lived population is the Okinawan population. They are neither vegan nor vegetarian. You are correct in saying that we are not built like carnivores but you fail to mention that we are not herbivores.
@TheVeganHere I support vegetarianism; however, the vegan diet is a relatively recent dietary paradigm. So these studies you refer to are limited in that sense. You can't find an example of completely "vegan" society in the history of mankind that thrived solely on the current vegan dietary model. There are however plenty examples of indigenous, ancient and nomadic cultures who did eat meat, dairy and/or eggs and lived long healthy lives without the problems we see today.
Quote: "If you think humans have carnivorous teeth for ripping through flesh, then run this little thought experiment. Imagine running out to the nearest cow that you see, jump on its back, open your mouth, and take a big bite out of its backside. What are you gonna find? You're gonna find that your mouth is very small and your teeth are very short and that you can't bite through that animal's hide, let alone its muscle. You're going to get bounced off that cow and walk away very hungry"
Gorillas have much larger and sharper canines, and eat a 100% vegan diet. Therefore your argument that canines are specifically for eating meat is moot.
@FunkyBunchesOfOats LOL. I respect your point of view, but honey, we're not gorillas. ;) I also never indicated that humans are supposed to *ONLY* eat meat - we only have TWO canines. But nontheless, we have canines in the instance we would need to in the wild. I also respect the fact that other people make choices based on their own political/social reasons. I actually was vegetarian for about 2 years, but went back to eating meat after becoming ill from lack of proper nutrition.
"we have canines in the instance we would need to in the wild."
Human canines are for eating, not hunting/defending.
"we only have TWO canines"
Actually we have four. Two on top and two on the bottom.
"I actually was vegetarian for about 2 years, but went back to eating meat after becoming ill from lack of proper nutrition."
So, you're a vegetarian for 2 whole years, and all of the sudden pure nutrition becomes an issue? Worldwide, vegetarians tend to be better nourished. Hm
@FunkyBunchesOfOats You know, I am not hating on anybody. If it makes you feel like the bigger person by instigating fights on YouTube with people you can't talk to face to face, best wishes my love. I am who I am, and we have differing opinions. So, let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that. PS, your panties are pretty far up your posterior...lighten up a bit! <3
@ajmiller61981 What if the meat you consumed was not being killed by anyone but you? Are you willing to kill animals with your own hands before you eat them? Maybe you are, I don't know, but it's worth asking. Do you have it in you to be the one to take another's life in order to indulge in eating meat? Eating meat is not necessary to sustain life, so eating it is always a choice.
@SubconsciousGatherer Actually, yes. I was raised on an organic farm, and when I was about 7 years old my grandparents showed me how to slaughter my 1st chicken. It was an experience that I will never forget, and seeing as how it was normal part of life for a rural farm child, it never crossed my mind that it was anything other than normal. I honestly have no problem with raising my own livestock; in fact, I prefer it. Thanks for asking though! Have a wonderful day!
@ajmiller61981 While I can appreciate that you are willing and capable of coming by meat on your own terms, you are familiar that it's not the way animals are killed in slaughterhouses, right? Lopping off a chicken's head in an instant is a far cry from how they do it big-business style. Does that side of the meat-as-food process bother you at all? I've seen images that turn my stomach, and I can't in good conscience be responsible for causing that kind of trauma to sentient creatures.
@ajmiller61981 Then go out a find a deer and bite its neck and eat it if you such a carnivore. Hunt the deer with out a gun. jJust go kill it with your own hands if you such a carnivore.
Yes, we do have canines, but we also have the ability to cultivate compassion for animals who suffer for human consumption. I've been a vegetarian for almost five years, and it is one of the proudest choices I've ever made.
So can you bite into a live fish/chicken/pig/cow/crab and take some flesh out and eat it ? Oh yes, before that...can you catch one while its running ?
for all vegans/fruitarians/liquidarians/breatharians who are annoyed with vitamin B12 questions let me help you out.
1. Ask meat eaters why there are thousands of them who have vitamin B12 deficiency even they eat so many animal products (I guarantee none of them will have an answer)
2. Vitamin B12 is stored in the liver, kidneys, intestines and muscle tissue. The stomach produces an "intrinsic factor" that, with adequate calcium, promotes the reabsorption of B12 in the small intestine.
Say what you want about this man he is worth 340 million dollars, along with sean combs whose worth 346 million and Jayz whose cash is 450 million and total net over a billion, they don;t care what you think.
In 40 years from now when there are over 9 billion people on earth. It will be impossible for humans to survive on a meat eating diet. It is unsustainable without massive amounts of people dying of starvation. It takes approximately 16 pounds of grain to produce 1 pound of meat. Secondly eating meat strongly contributes to global warming from cows belching which releases methane and pig shit. The world needs to transition away from meat.
I tried being a vegan but after 2 weeks i couldn't do it, I love meat and am extremely sorry because of it. But when it comes to health being vegan is more healthy as it processes threw the human body, its easier to break down and your body will function better but if your a straight carnivore you are more physically fit, your muscles need the protein to function and even vegan substitutes like soy aren't as powerful as Rabbit and other lean proteins, If you truly want to be healthy, cut carbs
meat and dairy products contain too much protein which robs your body of calcium. Its no surprise that the countries who drink the most milk have the highest rates of osteroperosis. Milk is liquid meat !!
BREATHARIANISM on this playlist: p=6B91A074B5DB3122 (paste it in the search) with many individuals on the planet saying the human body does not need food, and at a higher level even water when one puts their body in a strict cycle of exercise, yoga, qi gong, tai chi, breathwork, etc. These are normal people like you and me from all around the world not just yogis in the east anymore. This is the dawn of the new age whether you believe it or not, but if it resonates with you, get the word out!
I quite often hear arguments that vegetarian diets are healthier or more natural, but is it really? People seem to gloss over the fact that humans evolved as hunter gatherers and our bodies are suited for that type of diet even today. This means eating animal protein, vegetables, fruits and nuts, and there’s plenty of literature on this…. Just look up hunter gatherer diets. A lot of health problems today can be traced back to when humans invented agriculture and stopped being hunter gatherers.
@SeriousEating I am vegan because I find killing morally unacceptable. Period. But as far as health goes, people say being vegan is healthy because actual scientific studies have been done and have shown that the incidence of heart disease and cancer is less in vegans. Life expectancy is longer. To say that agriculture has caused health problems is absurd. Completely baseless. Scientific health studies are proof not anecdotal examples in literature.
@TheVeganHere it is not baseless or absurd or anecdotal examples. When humans adopted a diet based on grains we became smaller and more prone to disease. Also being vegan or not something dies for your food. Whole ecosystems are destroyed in order to grow crops. For examples the Amazon is cut down for beef and to grow soy.
@SeriousEating I guess you're unaware that the vast majority of the soy, corn and wheat grown in the world is fed to livestock being bred for consumption....rainforests would be cleared at an exponentially slower rate if the demand for meat were not so high.
@TheVeganHere vegans are vegans by moral standards, theres nothing to say vegetarians arent as healthy as vegans, actually quit the contrary, vegetarianism is healthier for u, at this start in human development, meaning makes everything worth while, so even though im saying my diet is healtheir then yours in no way is it better.
@TheVeganHereo if u stopped eating meat because its inhumane why wouldnt u eat free range eggs is eating eggs inhumane? and why dont u drink milk is milking a cow inhumane?
I quite often wonder who cares what we're "naturally" supposed to be. When you can live healthy, cruelty free-life while also reducing your environmental impact (I hate Al Gore, btw) why not? When you can save lives, why not? If you can learn to control your cravings at first they go away, and now I'm repulsed by the sight of dead animals being marketed as "food" (otherwise referred to as "meat"). A little more empathy would be nice in this world. For our own species, and others.
@MichaelBallack91 I agree that empathy is a good thing. I also agree that dietary choices are a personal decision. No matter what your choices may be lives will be lost directly or indirectly for the food you’re eating.
If your so concerned for empathy then you shouldn't murder the plants as well.
If you try to say the plant has no conscience, how do you know, have you ever been a plant? Does a plant not wither away from things that are harmful to it? In thus having a mindful aspect as to what is good for it's survival and what's bad for it's survival. So on the issue of morality you have no ground because the plants life if just as valuable as an animals as a persons.
I'm not murdering the plants. Murder is killing of another human being. Sorry to nit pick, but unfortunately that's "murder". I'm more concerned on the basis that it's proven animals as small as bees FEEL PAIN. Of course plants react to their environment. Look at sunflowers, it's nothing new. Every organism WANTS to survive, but I feel animals are more sentient beings than plants. Plants also grow back, at least "natural" ones do (ie. seeds)
I agree! I've never understood this argument. Do they really think humans should be doing everything our bodies are capable of doing? Our bodies are also capable of murder and rape of other people. That doesn't mean it's right or even beneficial for us. In my opinion, this represents a primitive view of humans. Let's evolve. What people may want to do or be able to do at any given moment isn't necessarily what is ethical (and therefore healthy for us in other ways).
@SeriousEating actually our bodies are still built to eat ALOT less meat. our saliva is base while carnivores have acidic saliva to help break meat down. our digestive tracks are alot longer than carnivores because they consume meat and need to get rid of it before it clogs there system, which is why many people need colonoscapies.. ( i know im a bad speller im tired) lol and also the acid in our stomach that is needed for meat break down is 10x less than carnivores.
@SeriousEating this argument is not valid. From a person i know who tried living on the hunter/gatherer diet, you talk about, for some months, lost a lot of energy and muscle. Humans are omnivores which means we can eat whatever we want of both plants and animals. but we can also exclude things and still stay healthy. its not like you die if you stop eating rice or potatoes, you can just get the same from other places.
@SeriousEating I tried the hunter gatherer, or 'paleo' diet and found I felt great and had a lot of energy, however I fell out of the habit for various reasons. I am now tryign the vegan diet and have to report similar feelings - this is leading me to the conclusion that whether you eat meat or not, the main thing is to eliminate processed foods from your diet, especially refined sugars. I have now lost the taste for meat but may try to include it occasionally in my diet.
@redowen333 Ding, Ding, Ding......We have a winner!!! Refined, processed foods are the problem. I personally think some meat is required for optimal health, but the elimination of all processed food, grains, and sugar is what will make a huge difference.
@samherb1 Yeah thats me man - one of life's winners! Ideally I woudl only eat meat if I hunted for it myself but thats seeming a bit unrealistic at the moment - might try it though :-)
@SeriousEating people lived to be at most 45 in hunte gatherers, humans are flexible enough to eat meat but to say its healthy is just plain not right, vegetarian is for sure much better
@SeriousEating where is this "fact" that we evolved from hunter-gatherers? There is no fact - simply a hypothesis. The majority of the world's population believe we were created by God and that we didn't simply evolve from nothing. And besides, if we truly believe in evolution, then isn't it about time we evolved our state of mind and realized that slaughtering tens of billions of animals each year to satisfy our craving for flesh is simply inhuman.
@SeriousEating where is this "fact" that we evolved from hunter-gatherers? There is no fact - simply a hypothesis. And besides, if we truly believe in evolution, then isn't it about time we evolved our state of mind and realized that slaughtering tens of billions of animals each year to satisfy our craving for flesh is simply inhuman.
@SeriousEating we're dying of cancer and heart disease. our bodies have not adapted to the garbage we shove down our throats.
theories on ancient man are irrelevant when faced with the facts about what happens when we put things in our bodies and what waste is created from animals and what waste is created from plant food. The answer to what is healthy is simple: what gives us what we need for our bodies to perform at peak levels while doing the least amount of damage?
@SeriousEating how about cows and chickens? They were evolved as grazers. That means that raising for human consumptions in confined spaces are not natural. Sure, there are organic grass-fed cows and free ranges chickens. But that's only a tiny little supply of our food systems. A majority of the meat products still come from animals that are raised on a diet designed to fatten them up before they are slaughtered on the lowest costs.
@SeriousEating this arguement is great, because it ignores the fact that we were hunters/gatherers because we had to be... and it just glosses over the fact that hunter/gatherers weren't using agribusiness to kill 6 billion animals a year. That the affect of agribusiness is not only dangerous to the billions of animals we overproduce to make burgers, but to human and earth's health. Better yet let's point out the fact that your old "we always dun it" beliefs do not answer modern problems.
the issue that i found, nutritionally, with veganism is that you need to know about whole/incomplete proteins, and heme and non heme iron. It's not hard to look up and find out what you need to do, but PLEASE my fellow vegans/veggies, know your facts.
@SkyFoxCode All you have to do to have a complete protein is to mix two or more food groups, only a lazy ignorant person would fail to do that. This is not hard to do indeed.
when the westerners think of "veggie" they think of salads, tofu, and soy. That is not veggie thats rabbit food lol. Look at south east Asian cuisine 90% of the food is veggie spanning from many vegetables and other foods. Going veggie is not bad or impossible but its best to do it step by step. Once a day for half a year and working onwards. Having some meat in your life is not bad as well, its all up to you.
Well done Russell. I myself have recently turned fully vegan after years and year of eating meat, due to being informed of the horrors involved in obtaining animal products for our consumption.
Most of us have not got a clue what goes on. Watch vids like 'Meet Your Meat' (search for it on youtube), and get the knowledge I use to be real lazy, now I'm energized to the max. Best decision I ever made.
@jenevajones991 People's look don't necessarily depend on their diet. A vegan diet can make you healthy and your skin will be better and you'll feel great and have a lot less health problems but it can't make an ugly persone beautiful :)
@ChallengeVHS I won't debate the healthfulness of soy with you but meat is definitely not healthy and protein is not even an issue. There is enough protein in fruit(yes I said fruit), vegetables, nut and seeds.
@TheVeganHere Meat is fine. Just not in the great amounts that people eat. When people had to hunt for meat in the past it was more like a treat. Now it is more common to eat meat than fruit and vegetables. If people had more of balanced diet they would fine. Lower your meat intake and increase your fruit and vegetable intake. There is really no need to do anything extreme like become a vegan. Unless you just want to.

i want to turn vegan but i find it very hard to stay away from meat... i was raised all my life eating meat and now that im 23 i find it hard to leave it.... i have tried it for a day and before the day ends all of my thoughts are on meat, and ribs and burgers hahahaha and i start getting nervous and impatient, is that part of the process too? is it normal to get all crazy the first few days with out meat?
affirmativeaction 7 months ago
@affirmativeaction Just like you when I went vegan, I had eaten meat my whole life. I ate out mostly at McDonald's, BK and Carl's Jr and burger joints. I loved chili cheese burgers. And when I ate out at nicer places it would be a 'good' steakhouse. But one day I just thought about how wrong it was to kill an innocent animal just so I can satisfy my tastebuds. Then at that moment I went vegan. I thought to myself I have no other ethical choice. That made it easy for me.
TheVeganHere 7 months ago
@TheVeganHere thank you, i guess is like when a person stops smoking, they will go insane the first couple of days just while the craving flushes out.... i guess tomorrow i will start my first day and mark it on my calendar and perhaps start a daily journal, but im committed, i know that if i stop eating meat my overall health and weight will shift. thank you!
affirmativeaction 7 months ago
@affirmativeaction I went vegan for the ethical reasons but health wise it is the best decision I have ever made. Just find your favorite fruits and veggies and make sure to have plenty on hand. Hunger is the enemy. That is when the temptation comes. BTW if you want to find vegan restaurants in your area check out the site happycow dot net. They have a restaurant finder for anywhere in the world. Also if there is anything I can help you with send me a message.

Pikaki01 7 months ago
@affirmativeaction I gave up meat over 10 yrs a go and when I 1st started out I relapsed within a week..the reason was because I wasn't really connected with why I wanted to become a vegetarian. Another reason was I was not knowledgeable about how to prepare non meat meals. I would say if this is something you truly desire, seek out recipes/dishes that are non meat as well as replace veggie meat like substances and you can still get the same meat effect if you're that addicted...lol

Don't give up!
glendagable 6 months ago
@affirmativeaction yesss trust the process. I actually phased out of eating meat over a course of a few months. Eat it sometimes when y ou crave it. Just pay attention to how dull it makes your body feel (trust me, the less you eat it during the transition, the more you will notice it dragging you down) and you will be convinced to do it less and less until you don't want to do it anymore. then maybe move onto cheese and dairy. Chances are though, that those might gross you out too much too.
SimplyCecileP 5 months ago
@affirmativeaction Yeah, it's normal to crave meat at first. Why don't you try cutting the meat down to smaller and smaller amounts each day, then start trying a day or two meat-free a week. You'll either cut it out completely over time, or at least cut it down. Make sure you educate yourself on nutrition and recipes and eat a lot everyday.
Noromongrel 5 months ago
@affirmativeaction You have to make a decision. So if you decided to not eat meat you wont crave it bc its not an option. The one place where u can be surrounded with me is a restaurant, so that might be something to try to avoid. I've made the transition a little differently. I stopped eating all meats except shrimp and salmon ( In particular. not just "fish" bc one of the reason ive become a vegetarian is to not categorize 300 different species as say, fish.). Thats all im allowed to put! bye
TheDivineRights 5 months ago
@affirmativeaction Our situations are so diagonally opposite (no offense intended) - I have been raised a vegetarian and all of my relatives and ancestors have been vegetarians for the past few centuries. And for me being a vegetarian is just perfectly natural - you know.. you cant miss something you never had! I'm just glad for my vegetarian upbringing as now i find that being vegetarian is not just a lifestyle choice but its also very important for the balance of our ecosystem
akram4179 4 months ago

TheVeganHere 8 months ago
@TheVeganHere some people swear that their energy levels is better when they eat meat 3 times a week. it is possible that for some people moderate meat intake is best for them. for example when asians get influenza they generally have milder symptoms and recover faster than white people. whites generally have more severe muscle aches and lethargy and take 3 days longer to recover. i am going off topic somewhat but you get my point.
keeyk118b 8 months ago
I think it's misleading to say not eating meat makes you healthier. Not eating PROCESSED food is healthier because you aren't eating artificial flavors, colors, additives, etc. Most meat eaters don't just cook and eat the animal flesh; they add way too much salt, preservatives, sauces, etc. which negate any of the good proteins that the body needs (body also needs protein).Of course you can SURVIVE on vegetables and beans (as protein replacements)..but doesn't mean you should.Just cook healthier

TheVeganHere 1 year ago 25
@TheVeganHere I do enjoy meat, it nourishes my body. I should have told you that I was vegan for 2 years of my life for many of the reasons everyone here stated. However, my body rejected the vegan lifestyle and I had to reintroduce meat into my diet. I was very weak. My red blood cell count was low, and it was because I was not eating meat. Humans are not carnivores, we are omnivores-meaning we eat meat and vegetation. I don't think vegans are 100% wrong, but it's not 100% right either.
ajmiller61981 1 year ago

@TheVeganHere Hmmm our digestive system is perfectly suited for eating meat. It isn't suited for eating grass and other cellulose containing products. The truth is that agriculture never really was productive enough during our evolution to provide enough foodstuff for our survival. We developed enzymes that are specifically directed towards the degradation of saturated fatty acids that are exclusively found in meat. So no, your statement is incorrect.
stevenacoca 11 months ago
@TheVeganHere : Really? Where are all the vegan centenarians? The healthiest and most long-lived population is the Okinawan population. They are neither vegan nor vegetarian. You are correct in saying that we are not built like carnivores but you fail to mention that we are not herbivores.

@TheVeganHere I'd love to see ajmiller actually pierce a cow's flesh with just his/her teeth, that would be interesting to watch.
faetrn 11 months ago
@TheVeganHere I support vegetarianism; however, the vegan diet is a relatively recent dietary paradigm. So these studies you refer to are limited in that sense. You can't find an example of completely "vegan" society in the history of mankind that thrived solely on the current vegan dietary model. There are however plenty examples of indigenous, ancient and nomadic cultures who did eat meat, dairy and/or eggs and lived long healthy lives without the problems we see today.
mahavira108 10 months ago 2
Quote: "If you think humans have carnivorous teeth for ripping through flesh, then run this little thought experiment. Imagine running out to the nearest cow that you see, jump on its back, open your mouth, and take a big bite out of its backside. What are you gonna find? You're gonna find that your mouth is very small and your teeth are very short and that you can't bite through that animal's hide, let alone its muscle. You're going to get bounced off that cow and walk away very hungry"

@ajmiller61981 nothing in meat can't be found in non meat sources. the difference is you get none of the bad things we get in meat.
there is no reason for a person who has access to fruits and vegetables to eat meat. we aren't starving, living in the wilderness.

Gorillas have much larger and sharper canines, and eat a 100% vegan diet. Therefore your argument that canines are specifically for eating meat is moot.
FunkyBunchesOfOats 1 year ago
@FunkyBunchesOfOats LOL. I respect your point of view, but honey, we're not gorillas. ;) I also never indicated that humans are supposed to *ONLY* eat meat - we only have TWO canines. But nontheless, we have canines in the instance we would need to in the wild. I also respect the fact that other people make choices based on their own political/social reasons. I actually was vegetarian for about 2 years, but went back to eating meat after becoming ill from lack of proper nutrition.
ajmiller61981 11 months ago
@ajmiller61981
Hm

SubconsciousGatherer 11 months ago
@SubconsciousGatherer Actually, yes. I was raised on an organic farm, and when I was about 7 years old my grandparents showed me how to slaughter my 1st chicken. It was an experience that I will never forget, and seeing as how it was normal part of life for a rural farm child, it never crossed my mind that it was anything other than normal. I honestly have no problem with raising my own livestock; in fact, I prefer it. Thanks for asking though! Have a wonderful day!
ajmiller61981 11 months ago
@ajmiller61981 While I can appreciate that you are willing and capable of coming by meat on your own terms, you are familiar that it's not the way animals are killed in slaughterhouses, right? Lopping off a chicken's head in an instant is a far cry from how they do it big-business style. Does that side of the meat-as-food process bother you at all? I've seen images that turn my stomach, and I can't in good conscience be responsible for causing that kind of trauma to sentient creatures.
SubconsciousGatherer 11 months ago

for all vegans/fruitarians/liquidarians/breatharians who are annoyed with vitamin B12 questions let me help you out.

SeriousEating 1 year ago

SeriousEating 1 year ago
@SeriousEating I guess you're unaware that the vast majority of the soy, corn and wheat grown in the world is fed to livestock being bred for consumption....rainforests would be cleared at an exponentially slower rate if the demand for meat were not so high.
xenophile84 1 year ago 2
@TheVeganHere vegans are vegans by moral standards, theres nothing to say vegetarians arent as healthy as vegans, actually quit the contrary, vegetarianism is healthier for u, at this start in human development, meaning makes everything worth while, so even though im saying my diet is healtheir then yours in no way is it better.
Dookiebutt47 1 year ago
@TheVeganHereo if u stopped eating meat because its inhumane why wouldnt u eat free range eggs is eating eggs inhumane? and why dont u drink milk is milking a cow inhumane?
arniebarb123 1 year ago
@TheVeganHere I'm not trying to be a dick, but...do you find carnivorous animals to be immoral?
RickSlauson 8 months ago
@SeriousEating
MichaelBallack91 1 year ago 21
@MichaelBallack91 Well said!!!
TheVeganHere 1 year ago
@MichaelBallack91 I agree that empathy is a good thing. I also agree that dietary choices are a personal decision. No matter what your choices may be lives will be lost directly or indirectly for the food you’re eating.
SeriousEating 1 year ago
@MichaelBallack91
So on the issue of morality you have no ground because the plants life if just as valuable as an animals as a persons.
sirryantheknight 1 year ago
@sirryantheknight
Plants also grow back, at least "natural" ones do (ie. seeds)
Don't you eat plants though too?...

I agree! I've never understood this argument. Do they really think humans should be doing everything our bodies are capable of doing? Our bodies are also capable of murder and rape of other people. That doesn't mean it's right or even beneficial for us. In my opinion, this represents a primitive view of humans. Let's evolve. What people may want to do or be able to do at any given moment isn't necessarily what is ethical (and therefore healthy for us in other ways).
emileeisaliar 1 year ago
@emileeisaliar I completely agree!
Veganism, an ethical imperative..........
TheVeganHere 1 year ago
@SeriousEating actually our bodies are still built to eat ALOT less meat. our saliva is base while carnivores have acidic saliva to help break meat down. our digestive tracks are alot longer than carnivores because they consume meat and need to get rid of it before it clogs there system, which is why many people need colonoscapies.. ( i know im a bad speller im tired) lol and also the acid in our stomach that is needed for meat break down is 10x less than carnivores.
hmbraye 1 year ago 2
@SeriousEating this argument is not valid. From a person i know who tried living on the hunter/gatherer diet, you talk about, for some months, lost a lot of energy and muscle. Humans are omnivores which means we can eat whatever we want of both plants and animals. but we can also exclude things and still stay healthy. its not like you die if you stop eating rice or potatoes, you can just get the same from other places.
AwsomSid 1 year ago
@SeriousEating I tried the hunter gatherer, or 'paleo' diet and found I felt great and had a lot of energy, however I fell out of the habit for various reasons. I am now tryign the vegan diet and have to report similar feelings - this is leading me to the conclusion that whether you eat meat or not, the main thing is to eliminate processed foods from your diet, especially refined sugars. I have now lost the taste for meat but may try to include it occasionally in my diet.
redowen333 1 year ago
@redowen333 Ding, Ding, Ding......We have a winner!!! Refined, processed foods are the problem. I personally think some meat is required for optimal health, but the elimination of all processed food, grains, and sugar is what will make a huge difference.
samherb1 7 months ago
@samherb1 Yeah thats me man - one of life's winners! Ideally I woudl only eat meat if I hunted for it myself but thats seeming a bit unrealistic at the moment - might try it though :-)
redowen333 7 months ago
@SeriousEating people lived to be at most 45 in hunte gatherers, humans are flexible enough to eat meat but to say its healthy is just plain not right, vegetarian is for sure much better
Dookiebutt47 1 year ago
@SeriousEating where is this "fact" that we evolved from hunter-gatherers? There is no fact - simply a hypothesis. The majority of the world's population believe we were created by God and that we didn't simply evolve from nothing. And besides, if we truly believe in evolution, then isn't it about time we evolved our state of mind and realized that slaughtering tens of billions of animals each year to satisfy our craving for flesh is simply inhuman.

@SeriousEating we're dying of cancer and heart disease. our bodies have not adapted to the garbage we shove down our throats.
theories on ancient man are irrelevant when faced with the facts about what happens when we put things in our bodies and what waste is created from animals and what waste is created from plant food. The answer to what is healthy is simple: what gives us what we need for our bodies to perform at peak levels while doing the least amount of damage?
msa1985 1 year ago
@SeriousEating how about cows and chickens? They were evolved as grazers. That means that raising for human consumptions in confined spaces are not natural. Sure, there are organic grass-fed cows and free ranges chickens. But that's only a tiny little supply of our food systems. A majority of the meat products still come from animals that are raised on a diet designed to fatten them up before they are slaughtered on the lowest costs.
terminator800tlgm 9 months ago
@SeriousEating this arguement is great, because it ignores the fact that we were hunters/gatherers because we had to be... and it just glosses over the fact that hunter/gatherers weren't using agribusiness to kill 6 billion animals a year. That the affect of agribusiness is not only dangerous to the billions of animals we overproduce to make burgers, but to human and earth's health. Better yet let's point out the fact that your old "we always dun it" beliefs do not answer modern problems.
detrac78 8 months ago
the issue that i found, nutritionally, with veganism is that you need to know about whole/incomplete proteins, and heme and non heme iron. It's not hard to look up and find out what you need to do, but PLEASE my fellow vegans/veggies, know your facts.
SkyFoxCode 1 year ago
@SkyFoxCode All you have to do to have a complete protein is to mix two or more food groups, only a lazy ignorant person would fail to do that. This is not hard to do indeed.
truth2748 1 year ago
when the westerners think of "veggie" they think of salads, tofu, and soy.

Remember, knowledge is power - peace!

ChallengeVHS 1 year ago
