Im from the uk and there is no band/music that captured the enchanting mystery of this beautiful land like the doors . Like front cover of "waiting for the sun" could have been shot in the uk. Jim gets tons of well-deserved credit for genius lyrics and charisma like no other.

Robby gets good cred for being the amazing guitarist he really is and for righting some of their songs (LIght My Fire and TOuch me, although LMF doesnt have many lyrics and i dont like touch me)

But Ray deserves more credit than he gets since he did up to 3 jobs at once: Keyboard (GREAT on this song), bass keyboard, and even took over vocals in live shows if jim passed out or just didnt feel like performing.

"Not to see the sun, not to touch the earth" is the name of a chapter from the book by Frazer called the "golden bough" the most important early book on antropology and an influence on Elliots "the waste land" It means that woman in primitive agriculural societies were not alowed to touch the earth (agriculture) and not to see the sun (makes the weed grow) when on there period and therefor unclean.

An artist creates to please him/herself. When they create to please others it becomes commercial music, which I dislike. This is why I love the Doors.
