Yamaha SA2200 BUILD = Craftsmanship was "Amazing", truly blow away. FEEL = One of the best damn actions i've played "EVER" !!! SOUND = Well, read my post below. I was really bummed because it was the damn nicest thing to play ever ! Man if they took this neck and action and made a Les Paul, Gibson would be shittin Kittens ! If you like the sound of these, go check the SA2200 out.
Sorry, but close yr eyes, and just listen. Both sound like the cheapest Les Paul copies "after" being dropped from a second story building !!!....and yes i've played both, and lots more !
While from a collectors standpoint the Gibson may be preferable, in 1981 when I played both the 335 and SA2000 @ Sam Ash , the Yamaha was the hands down winner and remains my favorite axe w/a few mods(tuners/pick-ups).
the yamaha guitar started as a counterfeit of the gibson es 335 there was a time when japan was doing the same thing as what china does today..counterfeiting watches...etc etc....on that alone i would chose the gibson ....why have the imitation when you can have the real thing?
@besamemucho5 In the 70's, American guitars suffered from quality issues and the Japanese guitars were simply better. The Japanese were offering reissues of classic Gibson/Fender guitars that were beating the socks off of the home crew. The whole market for "re-issued" classic guitars started as a result of the Japanese guitars, and they are often credited with "saving" the Fender line-up in the mid-80's when, for a short period, all Fender guitars were built in Japan.
@besamemucho5 The Yamaha is really a quality semi hollow guitar and I think it just as good as the 335. The gibson is nice to! But the SA2200 has more to offer for LESS money and it's just a good as the gibson! Great quality all the way with the SA2200. The new Gibson HAVE CHANGED ALL THEIR WOODS IN THEIR GUITARS NO MORE EBONY NECKS! IF YOU DON't BELIEVER CALL THEIR COMPANY AND ASK THEM! THEY DON'T USE THE SAME WOODS! THE SA2200 WINS!
They sound almost identical, except that the 335 has been set up to sound worse (I am sure on purpose) by being out of tune. Added to that - it is ridiculous making these comparisons, because both are so similar in construction and any number of minor things could make one slightly better than the other - age of strings, action, etc etc.
alllucinante! credevo che la gibson fosse il suono 2!!! mi piace di più il 2!!!!
Miseriaccia! complimenti a Yamaha!
I compared 2 older Epiphone 335 -style guitars with 2 Yamaha SA2000s. Although the Epis were nice, the Yamahas played and sounded better, so I bought one.
Yeah thanks, that what we´re all searching for here very nice playing and helpful of course.
Both sound very equal....
But how do the feel...inspire.....The answer is:
LOOK AT HIS FACE and you know!

I'm not at all impressed by the Gibson.

Gibson looks and sounds a little more understated, tone quality more rounded. But they are very close.

The Yamaha is so much better sounding! (not to mention better looking). I picked the Yamaha myself when I had the choice between those two.

Jeez tune your fucking guitar before making vids?

@ulrikplate You are right...335 is out of tuning. Was a mistake because we had fast (the 335 is not mine) but the recording studio. Ciao.

Die Yamaha klingt eindeutig wärmer und fetter, die Gibson ist out of tune. Aber Jede klingt halt anders :-)

@skok65 sa2200 is a professional instrument. Usually I use it on a Fender Blues Junior amp.
MrPonedipone 1 year ago
Nice punchy sound, did you use a quality mic to record the amp?
The Yamaha is a tempting guitar to buy.

Only mic of camera (a pro-digital sony) - ciao.

Many thanks for great demo!!
Yamaha has better sound. Gibson was surprisingly harsher, more digital sounding.
