Since the impossibly expensive and complicated regulations they impose make it a barrier of entry into the market for competitors, therefore corporations become monopolies controlled by the state, paying off bureaucrats through lobbies so as to shelve laws that could damage the company... it's called corporatism and is a central tenet of "big government" absolutism, from socialism to fascism alike.
