Chavez is a well intentioned person but he has actually made the country into a huge welfare state. They currency has devalued over and over and people have no wealth at all. The poor depend on oil money. IF you want a thriving Latin America that has the right economy you need to look at Brazil.. Chavez as well intentioned as he is has not created a prosperous country at all.. Once the oil price crashes like it did in 2008, basically no one will be able to afford anything.
@xMaXiMuSx It's not easy to measure Chavez's success while there is a global recession going on. But from the data I've seen, Venezuela isn't doing to badly under the circumstances. Do a google search for "venezuela economy graph" and click on the first link. The people in Venezuela are poor, and have been since long before Chavez came to power. They need welfare. They need free education and healthcare so they can work themselves out of poverty.

If they have a devalued currency (like China) then they can have a thriving export industry, like China has. China has an artificially low currency to maintain the dollar peg.. It's different than what Venezuela does.. China has massive production and export and everrything.. Once they end the dollar peg and allow their currency to appreciate they wont have poor people and will grow even quicker but they have to dump their trillions for that.. The reason they can't afford is because they have no money but educations in Venezuela is NOT FREE.. You're paying it through inflation..

Chavez is a well intentioned person but he has actually made the country into a huge welfare state. They currency has devalued over and over and people have no wealth at all. The poor depend on oil money. IF you want a thriving Latin America that has the right economy you need to look at Brazil.. Chavez as well intentioned as he is has not created a prosperous country at all.. Once the oil price crashes like it did in 2008, basically no one will be able to afford anything.

@xMaXiMuSx It's not easy to measure Chavez's success while there is a global recession going on. But from the data I've seen, Venezuela isn't doing to badly under the circumstances. Do a google search for "venezuela economy graph" and click on the first link. The people in Venezuela are poor, and have been since long before Chavez came to power. They need welfare. They need free education and healthcare so they can work themselves out of poverty.

If they have a devalued currency (like China) then they can have a thriving export industry, like China has. China has an artificially low currency to maintain the dollar peg.. It's different than what Venezuela does.. China has massive production and export and everrything.. Once they end the dollar peg and allow their currency to appreciate they wont have poor people and will grow even quicker but they have to dump their trillions for that.. The reason they can't afford is because they have no money but educations in Venezuela is NOT FREE.. You're paying it through inflation..

Germany has the Euro and they thrive in exports.. The fact that china has a supressed currency is hurting their people and their standard of living, it's not helping..
