Great Video Bro...but the Song Title for the First Song By Mr. Barrington Levy is Mini-Bus Bro....Just wanted to make sure you got the Right Info...I love that song & Reggae Music....Good Job on the Research!!!
There's more than one smaple being used in that Ed O.G. track, no? Because there's a song by Stereo Total called J'aime L'amour A Trois/ Love With The Three Of Us (look it up on youtube) that uses that same "yaaaaugh c'mon san-" voice sample at the beginning of both tracks.
Jazzy Jeff's part was hott too! He used up to the beginning of the part that Pete Rock used! That's three hott tracks off of what about 8 bars worth of music! Love Unlimited "Share a little love in your heart" was used as an intro to a track for someone. I think it was Preemo. Again, great post!
I have to agree with what you say about the original musicians and that stuff, but at the same time that's a part of what makes hip-hop so great. How DJ's/producers find samples and create such amazing beats. Sampling is an art.
Isnt' this ony true if the artists have royalty agreements? Otherwise don't the record labels usually own the music? Not really sure about this though. I think in the very early days of rap producers would take samples without worrying about copyright infringement. Either way I hope the artists are compensated. If I was a musician I would be flattered if a hip-hop producer used my music.
@FreezeInfinite no, if youre a big producer or and unknown producer, the artist that buys the beat from you either has to clear the sample himself or get his label to do it, if the sample is recognizeable, if its chopped into 300 pieces and not recognizable you can usually get away with having to clear it

@ononon7
Stonesthrow Records is hunting every part of any song coming from their studios on YT.

@PimbSeventyNine thats interesting considering every part of any song coming from their studios is a sample of someone elses song, smh, lol.

This is very interesting. Now I'm interested in hearing what hip hop beats from the 90's & 00's are actually completely original.
There are some of them, believe it or not.

Man I love rap music but when I hear compilations like this I somewhat feel bad for the original musicians because it was there original work.
However, Hi-Tek's use of that Camel sample was beautiful as well as Alchemist's Jean Plume sample use came out great.
Thank for posting all these though. I think people should see this, it's great way to appreciate all music.
