@alzathoth 2 parts flour and 1 part milk powder, and he added some egg powder, a large spoon full and some brown sugar a half spoon full and some raisins
Im not a survival expert but I would have brought some cutter advanced insect repellent for the mosquitoes. It's like $2 bucks. Maybe he knows of a way the Indians warded them off like skunk cabbage?
Does anyone have the exact measurements for this recipe, I know there are a lot of Bannock recipes out there but am looking for this exact one. Even if you know which book it is in. Thanks!
@cliffway basic recipe is just using self rising flower and water till dough. If you want to to it more authentic, for every cup of flour, 1-2 tablespoons of baking powder. Also it is quite common to see recipes with some amount of dehydrate milk as desired.
I wonder what the natives did about the bugs. Yeah, you can always make a smoky fire, that works every time, but what about when they had to leave camp to hunt?
My family and a couple pals made Bannock the other night at our campfire in our back yard. We wrapped it around sticks to cook it and it had some cinnamon in it...when it was done (after about 10 - 15 minutes) we poured maple syrup on it. I washed it down with some Canadian Club whiskey. I felt VERY Canadian! ;)
I've camped many times in the upper forests of Hawaii, but my first time ever, I remember, I was 5 with my father and insisted on sleeping outside next to the fire.
The next day I woke with at least 100 bites on my body. Mosquitoes are the worst, but in a sense they just make camping all the most natural.
Haha, yeah, bannock is lovely like that. I find that bannock's fluffiness really depends on how much water you add; if you make it more like a dough, then you'll get bread; however, if you make it more like a batter, then you'll get a pancake of source. I personally enjoy the latter.

wait till shit hits the fan and see if you can find all those ingredients. YOU WONT!!Better learn how to make flour from wild grains, huh. Look into the AMARANTHUS SPECIES. They are considered WEEDS and are a COMPLETE PROTEIN. THEY GROW DAMN NEAR EVERYWHERE.
Being Mohawk, this has been passed down for generations, try with milk and egg, then deep fry, or coat mushrooms, veggies, Mmmm, awesome!

JustinBaker2567 1 year ago
@JustinBaker2567 you can use tobacco smoke, or rub different muds or resins on your face.
YossarianTheMeerkat 1 year ago
@JustinBaker2567 Different plants. Catnip is a decent mosquito repellent, I use it all the time. Maybe not so good in mountain lion country.

Ray Mears is to real life what Liam Neeson is to movies. He's never boring, and you really get a sense of knowledge from him.
