  • Poor Jimmy McCulloch died too young.

  • What program was used to separate the audio & how was it done? I'm very impressed with this video & wish it could be done with several others.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I love these isolated tracks.

  • Cool. Never tought I'd hear something like this.

  • id literally found out who jimmy was about 5 minutes ago.. turns out he was born in the same town as me!

  • Agreed, Poly! They were truly devoted to each other. Love the isolated guitar track. Thanks for posting.

  • How were your able to isolate his tracks? Thats great!

  • This debate about Linda Eastman is surreal. She's only know because of her marriage to Macca. No offence to her or Sir Mack, but she plays a bit part in The Beatles story and her membership of Wings is surely tongue-in-cheek. Perhaps a novelty, like the expressionless keyboard player in Sparks or Bez from the Happy Mondays.

  • @Sprongo Actually Linda was a known rock photographer who took many shots of the Beatles, Hendricks, Stones, who, Jim Morrison. She gave up her professional career when she married Paul.

  • I used to play this in a band, awesome to hear it this way!

  • How cool is the part at 3:42! Must learn that now!!

  • @ZenDriveSeven There's another video of this song on YT. Check out the live version from Australia & look around 4:00. You can see Denny Laine doing this part on the doubleneck...it looks like he's fingerpicking this part & Jimmy is doing the power chords.

I didn't know about this part until I heard this isolated version.

  • Linda never said: look at me, i'm a great musician. She was Paul's best friend and they were having fun being together and doing what (at least what he) loved. She actually had a great voice and was probably more talented than many of today's popular 'solo' artists.

  • Love it!

  • how in the hell did you do that?

  • strat solo?

  • Well, according to Denny Laine, once she really learned the keyboards she was a 'lot better and professional than many so-called musicians I know'. I am sure Denny Laine is a lot more qualified than the 'experts' on here.

  • Why all these bad things about linda? she was Paul's most faithful wife- she never left him even when Paul became a drug adict and got busted and stuff- she even helped write songs with him and only joined Wings because Paul asked her to not because she was talented, she had no experience for pity sake- all beginners are terrible until they learn which she did and she became great

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Pointing out someone in a world famous band has absolutely no musical talent at all is hardly surprising, is it? It would be much more surprising if no one mentioned it. It's not an indictment of Linda personally, just a completely justifiable observation.

  • @pretorious700 That debate has been done to death millions of times - decades ago, the fact is, Paul just wanted his wife involved in the group.

  • @1FineYoungCannibal Where's the "debate"? It was his band, he could put anyone in it he wanted. I was commenting on people being surprised that others pointed out her lack of musical ability. Personally, I couldn't care less.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings She became great??

  • @ExileNJ Linda ended up improving her singing skills and keyboard skills and went on to write some songs of her own and co-write a few with Paul like "Live& Let died" and all the songs in the Rupert the bear movie soundtrack like Seaside Woman she wrote or co-wrote. she played amazing keyboard considering she had no lessons or training on songs like "Jet", and the first thing Paul did after Linda died was release Linda's solo album "Wide Prairie" which has some amazing songs if u want proof .

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Anyone can learn a line in a song like in Jet. She was Paul's wife, not an amazing musician by any means.

  • Good stuff! Great licks in this song. Jimmy's pull-offs are perfection. Reminds me a bit of the lead riff in "A Hard Days Night."

  • That was fantastic! How ever did you obtain this? Thanks for such a cool upload!

  • our band does this song and I play lead--- a very nice and very cool video post

  • 123 4 ll AH YA

shit i for got the words hmmm awsome ..talent mCcar lane and mCculloch he was with thunder clap newman before he joint up with wings i must say he had talent yet againg drugs killed him its a freaking shame still at tunder age 26 i was still young but i remembered that he pass'd away yet he sung medicine jar anti drugs song? ..

  • @cealend And what drugs are you on?

  • @ExileNJ n o idea but been happy person i think the only am on love is the best drug anyone can have ..

  • Thanks for posting it. It was very useful.

  • and he wrote and sang 'Wino junko" on speed of sound

  • I don't care what people say Wings was one talented band, Linda included. Ed

  • Ah, I wouldn't have said it publicly the way Jimmy did but Linda is not talented. In fact, Paul just got her to learn enough so she could tour with them. I have a feeling he knew he would cheat on her if she wasn't around and didn't want to lose a good woman which she was. What a guy, huh? Anyway, she could play well enough and in timing and that's all they needed. I wish I could have married a good woman but I got the shaft in that department instead. Yes, Wings is one of the better 70's bands.

  • Well her singing wasn't great but she did write the "What does it matter to you..." part ,melody and words on Live and Let Die and parts of Ram. Paul tells of her skills in an interview here on YouTube with his daughter. Her album Wild Prairie got fine reviews. Ed

  • Thanks for not giving me a negative since I don't mean any disrespect to her. She was a heaven of a woman. You NEVER heard anything bad about her like you hear of everyone else. Now, I can't really use Paul's words as proof since he loved her so much. I think Paul must have thought her gases smelled good, ha ha. Then again, I'm not familiar with the work she did on the songs you mentioned so I might be commenting prematurely about her talent. Maybe I have the proverbial foot in my mouth.

  • Jimmy didn't say anything bad about Linda. It was something along the lines of "Although Linda doesn't know much about music she's really a nice chick."

He liked her as a person, just not as a musician which is understandable.

  • I was going to send you this..but no need I see :) Ed

  • Hey, I don't know if you're a guitarist, but I am. Do you know what kind of guitar amp Jimmy was using when he played this song?

  • I think it's a gibson firebird. same as johnny winter plays

  • No, re-read my post. I'm asking about the guitar amp used on this recording, not the guitar. Thanks for replying.

  • I play and teach Guitar myself. If I'm not mistaken I think it was An old Vox 2x "12 that he slaved a Marshall 4x"12 cabinet and a modified Orange. But Quote for sure on that. I know that was pretty much of what he used in Thunderclap newman when I saw them live. Seemed like he played marshall cabinets but we saw no amp heads with wings in 1977

  • Very cool. I wish I had the chance to see him live. I know you didn't ask about the guitar, but I'm fairly sure he used a Strat in this take.

  • Jimmy was is and always will be amazing.

  • nice one paul

  • rocker! well done Jimmy!
