Dan. Another nice video! I really like your playing. Always wanted to know if you've ever studied or paid attention to music theory? I have a good friend who is a teacher who was showing me some stuff last night - I had no clue what she was doing (13ths, flatted 9ths, etc.). Do you know all that stuff? Thanks - and keep it up!
Very nice Dan! I always wanted to hear you on a hollow/semihollow, as I knew it would really suit your style and I was right! What were the deciding factors between 335/339? I think they are both awesome blues guitars. Thanks for the post.
I would at least try one? If you get it new....from lets say Music123 where I got mine....talk them down in price. Then you'll also get 45 days until you have to return it. Play it and see if its for you. No brainer IMO. I think they're much better than I thought they'd be. The quality is every bit as good if not better than the 335's I've seen. Only difference is the quallty of the tuners and perhaps the switch? Anyway its totally worth more than they're asking for!!!
I got the '59 neck and it is PERFECT....not a baseball bat like the so called 59 neck that I had on my Y2K Historic 335...that was a baseball bat!! This one is very much like my R9 except it does have shoulders but not bad at all. Perfect fit in my hand which aren't huge or small.
Isn't 6 really loud Dan? I run my ' 69 Dlx Rvb: Vol 4, Treb 6, Bass 2.5, Rvb 2.5 & it's way loud w/ the guitar Vols on 10. Do you lower the Vol Pots on your guitar? On 6 I'd be deaf...RnB
Not really loud...Its relative....yes it's loud, but thats where it gets the best tone. You can't run a tube amp at low levels and expect to get great tone. These were meant to be played and played LOUD!!!
I don't understand the point of this guitar - its something that its not which is a 335. By saving 700 bucks, you get a small imposter guitar. If they offered a Chevy Camaro for a lower price but the car was 3/4 size I wouldn't buy it for the same reasons.
I never liked the 335 because of the awkward body size. It was an uncomfortable guitar for me to play because I'm short I guess. Now this guitar makes sense not only because of the size....but because of the weight. I have a very bad back and it's fairly light a little over 7lbs.
That is one great sounding blues machine there D...and you make it sound great with them chops you be playin'. I had fun pickin' that thing last eve......great freakin git for the dough! Now do some litlle jazzy stuff and show off the tone control on the neck pup. Play "Misty" for us.

"pop"....what's that sound? Comment cherry!
Great tones though! I'm not sure I'm sold on the small body, but I should go give one a workout...very nice sounding!
Whicol2 2 years ago
the "pop" is the compression and distortion of the camera cutting in as the volume peaks
pingo775 2 years ago
I think you missed the joke. That was the imaginary sound of a comment cherry being popped.
Whicol2 2 years ago
Oh rite...sry. I was wondering wat the "cherry" had to do with it.
