The point is that many Americans invest in the stock market for their retirement. If companies are taxed more the overall worth of the company drops as will the stock. McCain has said that he wants to keep the Captial gains where it is at %15 but would like to drop to %7. Obama wants to raise it to %20 and since so many Americans invest in stock now it will affect them.

If that doubled, that's still $100k in stock. If it only went up 25% you are taking about having $400k invested.
If you could put 25k away per year, that would take you 16 years to put away that kind of money (not including interest).

McCain has said that he wants to keep the Captial gains where it is at %15 but would like to drop to %7.
