  • Instead of putting music "up" in Spotify, just put them on your phone directly and all of your songs will be available all the time, whether in the Underground or in Timbuktu. You needn't worry about creating a special list. Come on, folks. You can't fit what you want to listen to on 16, 32 or 64gb of space? Streaming only uses more battery power anyhow.

  • IT DONT WORK!!!!!!! KEEPS SENDING ME TO THE INFO SCREEN ON THE PH

  • IT DONT WORK!!!!!!!

  • Play "Mo Gutta Game" on Spotify!!!! People in Norway, Finland, Sweden, & Britain, & France are..

  • I love spotify but I hope CDs won't go away. :c I want physical copies of my favourites aswell.

  • I just got this and while the concept is great and I like the wireless automatic syncing to my mobile unit, the interface is pretty bad. You pack songs onto your phone in playlists, so you can't browse artists or albums freely. Also, the playlists can only be sorted manually on your computer, if you don't they appear on the phone in the order they were added.

  • @Vellwander The interface is great. Did it ever occur to you a playlist can be anything you want i.e. the Artist you like and just 1 album... name it that. Or 1 artist and drag ALL their releases into it and name it. Or you have the freedom to make a mixed artist playlist also. Theres a search button right in the interface. Its not hidden. You can browse freely just like the desktop app.

Try long pressing on anything too.

But your right on no sorting a playlist via mobile. oh well

  • Hells Yeah! Spotify rocks!

  • WOW!

I pay for my spotify account, its a small monthly fee.

Can't wait for this app to my iphone!

I really hope Apple gets over themselves and lets them release it, if they're afraid of competition they should release something better, not try and stagger digital evolution and their own devices.

  • No Apple will not release this kind of app because they suck at being cool.

  • They have! It's going to be such a hard hit to Itunes though, but it's so much cheaper!!

  • they just did

  • they've done it, lol

  • Just got my Hero! Can't wait to have this on my android! :D

  • when this is on htc hero its gonna be great !

  • WHEN??

  • AYA HIRANO

  • This is epic.

    Spotify is fantastic.

Android is great but still quite immature.

The G1 is average and I agree with the earlier poster about the audio interface.

Out the box it's a choice between charging or listening to music. Not realistic.

However third party HTC adapters work to allow headphone and usb charging so not a total disaster.

This app could be the killer app android needs and again. Spotify is definitively the best thing to happen to the UK music market forever.

    Top JOB.

  • This is truly AWESOME!

  • and the cost of developing and installing 4G has to be paid right? who is gonna pay that? well that my friend is us.

  • i know it sucks to be us

  • This looks amazing! A true BIG step forward in both music and mobile phone technology - and the music industry actually combating piracy by offering users a decent alternative as opposed to randomly suing people.

Congrats to all those involved on such an accomplishment!

Slightly unfair, though (I feel) is the pricing difference between countries for the premium service. It's €9.99 in most of Europe but they charge £9.99 in the UK, when in fact it should work out at around £8.50...

  • I just cancelled my Spotify subscription and I am not going to sign up again until they release this app.

  • Spotify is great to be more selective in your downloading. Before Spotify the only way to really explore music was to download a few hundred gigs with mp3's and select a few and then delete the amateurish or commercial crap.

  • CD's or raw music files, still have the better hand when it comes to quality. I hope they never stop making them, only improving. But when I'm on a bus or just talking a walk outside. It would be great to have some new music if i forgot it at home. So this would be great. Thank you spotify. Now if i only had the money to get a new phone that can support these software's. :o)

  • About bandwidth usage. Spotify streams at about 160kbps, that's 20kB/s => ~1,17MB per minute, ~70MB per hour so that's ~2,1GB per month if you use it for an hour every day. Needless to say you should probably sign up for an unlimited data plan with your phone company.

  • Yes, but you could also just hook it up to your WLAN at home, offline sync all the playlists you want, and you can listen offline for "free".

  • Yeah of course, and that's probably what most people will do so they don't have to pay for any data. Hopefully with 4G/LTE our phone companies will give us unlimited data plans for €5-10 per month. Imagine that + Spotify in your phone... It would just be pure happyness.

  • The greediness of the phone companies in combination with the limitations on TOTAL available bandwidth of mobile data networks ensures that cheap unlimited 4G will still be a minimum of 3-5 years off.

  • you do know that you can use WLAN to sync the songs? ;)

  • of course, that's the "free" alternative, but it still would be a nice thing if it cost less than a nice pair of jeans to do it via 3.5G / 4G.

  • i know mate, still expensive for music use

meybe they should team up with carriers to offer a spotify mobile plan for around 14.99 punds a month, that way people can hear music on their phone on the go, and on their computer :)

  • Absolutely, some sort of special deal at such a reasonable price would be nice. Anything higher would be questionable... Great idea :-)

  • this has just got to be the best thing ever

    amazing

  • The phone seems to be pretty slow though imo. And I'm kinda against the sms-typing thing on these kind of cell phones. Nokia N95 8Gb is STILL the best phone I've tried. But that's just my 5 cents.

  • SPOTIFY well done. congrats. with android, we will never need an ipod ever again. thank you, this will be amazing.

  • Looks awesome! Does the HTC Magic have the same resolution as the phone shown in this video? I could Google this but I dunno the phone's name. Thanks in advance!

  • yes

  • shaweet

  • Good thing I've ordered a HTC Magic and signed up for a premium Spotify account. :D

  • Can't wait to install this on my HTC Magic!!!

  • haha one of the playlists is called funky shit..

  • No it's a song by Prodigy

  • Please make it for Iphone/Ipod touch

  • winmo version please!

  • I doubt Apple will let Spotify release an application for the iPhone because it's iTunes most hated rival at the moment.

  • lol G1 is so the best!

  • When are you bringing this to Symbian S60v5 ??

  • iPhone!!!!!

  • There will be 18-20 new android phones in 2010 :) this year we can expect some HTC phones, a samsung, and an SE!

  • over 200,000 people :S

  • What about a WinMo version?

  • Bring it out for the Iphone!!

  • Great tutorial. Makes me want to buy a Google phone.

  • why produce this first on android? why not go for the largest mobile OS first (symbian)

  • i want it on the iPhone!

  • They are currently making a symbian version as well. Maybe the Android version was easier to make and therefor finished earlier.

  • serch for: Alexander Rojas Fantastic player 2009

  • you can get spotify free theres an site that direct you how to get it for free

  • Neat, and I just sold my X1.. Dayumn gotta buy a new phone :)

  • This is absolutely brilliant! I've seen the future!

  • i still buy cd's so i can put them on my ipod and take it around with me, but this may kill buying music forever

  • oszi mano jhonatan

  • what is it for phone? :D

  • I've been waiting for this release for so long! :) I'm so excited!

  • nice

  • Awesome! :D

  • Awesome!

  • Oh, this makes me sooo happy!!!

  • This literally shows the end of purchasing music. When this app is available there will be no need at all to download and pay for music. On the move, on laptop, even in the car, spotify can be used. On the whole im not sure whether this is a good thing though, or how long the record labels will suffer until they pull out. I just cannot understand, apart from advertising, how they make any money!

  • Using the Android application costs. That's how they'll be making their money.

  • Comment removed

  • Yea but £10 a month is worth about 1 album. I wonder whether the music labels will suffer because of that.

  • But your getting access to almost any song you want. Stop being so negative.

Nobody is forcing you to pay the £10.

I think it is extremely reasonable. I get access to most music I like for £10 per month and it takes up no extra space on my phone... genius.

  • of course it will hugely affect record labels! but who gives a shit about them? they have being ripping bands off for years.. the best thing about spotify is that the artist still recieves a royalty (which they of course dont when people use limewire/ napster) so if the artist is getting paid and the consumer is getting free music legally, why the need for the middle man?

  • Comment removed

  • The mobile version of Spotify will be available to paying subscribers only.

  • @spotifydemo You better change that statement to: "Only to PREMIUM users".. >.< Cause i cant use it as im an unlimited user.. just crap..

  • Now THIS is something I'd be willing to pay for. Now lets see the same kind of quality service for movies and series.

  • Yeah baby. Gimme that one to the iPhone and I'll give you guys one of my balls!

  • Comment removed

  • dunno why this has got 6 negatives, i found it quite funny.

p.s. this mobile shit is fucking cool. another step to changing the world.

  • Completely awsome, the solution for offline playback seems really easy to use, just as everything else. I'm off buing a new phone as soon as this is released :).

Would be great if it could be used for free, the commersials could be uploaded to your phone whenever it's possible and info on how many times they've been played could then be uploaded when possible, and so the developers and artists get their money.

  • great looking app, but if it is limited to £9.99 per month subscribers then it will sink without trace...

  • no it wont, £10 a month for unlimited music!! thats an absolute bargain, not to mention the fact that various other phone companies offer a simmilar subscription service already that people are willing to pay for!

  • I agree with you. Paying £9.99 a month for all the music you could ever want on your phone and on your pc/laptop is just shocking. This will be an epic fail.

Who even comes up with these ideas?

Now where did I put my portable LP player?

  • offline playback? this is EPIC :O

  • Will it work on C510?

  • can't wait to try this on my Nokia 3210!

  • Comment removed

  • do you think there will be an app like this available for the iPhone???

  • apparently they are working on it. I think there is a demo of it somewhere on youtube. I've heard that you may only be able to use it if you pay for premium though.

  • Have been hoping they'd do a spotify app for android. Looks awesome.

  • I have two questions, first, how much traffic on the mobile would it be for a month, if, say, I use it for an hour a day?

Also, are there plans to release this for WM?

  • Great.. But your music taste sucks ;)

  • Fantastic! :D

  • This is fantastic. Glad I'm on Android - just need an updated phone with a better battery life.

  • otroligt

  • you are awesome, this is awesome, i want to be awesome. I want one!

  • the offline mode is fucking awesome

  • want for win mobile to please

  • Please keep everyone updated on how we should be able to access this.. pricing is pretty important. Sorry but not willing to pay premium rates for this.. however, would still have no problem listening to adverts!
