really amazing, unbelievable...i actually thought, this is deep purple. a cover should be like this, so you are not able to do the original...never cover^^.so you hear the laughable covers made by some unimportant guys on tv-shows, those are a crime^^
Holy shit. Labrie sounds like dio, and better than the recorded version with ian gillan. Don't get me wrong gillan is an amazing singer, just listen to the jesus christ superstar lp. Amazing blackmore esque solo by petrucci. Hell even derek was tearin it up
I love Dream Theater, BELIEVE ME, I just had no idea about all these fucking awesome albums! I've only known them for like 3 years, but I'd never even heard of A Change of Seasons, Falling Into Infinity, or odyssey. Don't hate on me, but can somebody give me a list of the best songs from some of their not-so-famous albums?
Love Labrie's vibrato on this one. This is the first song I ever heard from them. Too bad much of their music doesn't live up to the awesomeness of this.
Ive been listning to alot cover songs lately, and I gotta say, this has to be one of the best cover songs ever recorded. The vocals are out of this world.
@smilingpug not at all dreamtheater has influenced many bands of their own and if you disagree with their songs then get off this channel and list to the music you claim is "desent"
I like the style of John Myung in playing his bass lines.. than the other covers of the other artist. highly defined sound in very instrument and more efforts.

This album is THE most underrated for Labrie. This is quite possibly his greatest live performance ever! This is only 1 month and 2 days after his food poisoning incident, but he's got great control over his voice and still has an amazing range! I mean, listen to that vocal solo at the end. Several times in this song, he hits note HIGHER than the famous f sharp!! And he hits them with both power and control! Labrie is AMAZING and always will be
@armywalaby Let's compare him to '93: He's gotten his full range back (even a little more.. up to the A5) He doesn't feel the scream his lungs out after every line of lyrics. He has much better control over his pitch and vibrato. His voice hardly ever crackles now, even though in '93 almost every extended note was crackled and unstable. This 2011-2012 tour is probably his best, honestly.
This is pretty good but the best cover is the Dream Theater with Bruce Dickinson on vocals.

yeah, vocal should lead this song and here (my impression) he's trying to catch up with the music... not bad but DB is much better.

Most of them are well known songs from D.T. but there are really good versions, specially if you like Labrie's voice :)
Hope this makes you a bigger D.T. fan.

You know this is Deep Purple though? Dream Theater just cover it albeit they do it amazingly well.

@Poisonseed
That was my point. They seem to be able to channel some great vibes in songs like this. Their own songs, however, are quite lame and contrived.

it's not the same dream theater.

I have to say,there's a video on youtube of Bruce Dickinson covering this song,but imo LaBrie manages to outperform him.He simply nailed this song!

Dream Theater is a parasitic, uncreative "band" who wishes they were RUSH.
