  • Hey, I lived in Tower 2, top floor from 86 to 89

  • Lived on the 8th floor of tower 3 from '86 - '89. Me and my dudes used to tear it up in Pinetamare.

  • 1st tower, 13th floor. Early to mid 80's.

  • Second tower, 3rd floor, 1977-1980. I was just a kid, but my best childhood memories are from Pinetamare. I used to roam the woods and the beach. At the time only two of the buidlings were complete, and the third was only halfway complete. I remember you could clearly see the 7th tower leaning slightly. The best memories there...

  • I too lived there 1980-81 and they were still building towers when I left. WOW what membories!

  • I used to live there from 90 to 93.

  • (sigh) The end of an era. I spent a good chunk of childhood there: tower 3, 3rd Floor (apt. 8) from '77-'80, and AGAIn in tower 3, 2nd floor, apt. E, from 1987 to 1990 (with a stint in Varcaturo from '84-'87). I probably knew a lot of you posting here. Class of '92. A lot f you probably knew my hell-raising younger brother who would've been in the class of '94. Started kindergarten down the street, and did 4th thru 6th there as well.

The Towers: Cabrini-Greene by the sea.

  • I remember hitting "funlandia" or whatever the arcade was called back then, which was right next to the PX. Then, if i felt brave, I'd hit the Italian run arcade across the way. A few good memories of visiting friends at the towers, which were considered pretty ghetto :)

  • @Mistermax30 Yeah, I threw away a lot my dad's money at "Funlandia" around '89, too...especially after Tony sold the San Pan and it became "The Friend's Inn." That other Italian arcade across the way was the SALA GIOCHI! It was bigger and better than Tony's by far, but it could get a bit rowdy with all the older Italian guys that hung out there.

  • WOW, those are the places that I would go play at back in 1980-81. the games took tokens which cost about .10 U.S. each.

  • I lived in Pinetamare from 94-98. I stayed in Fontana Blue.Have good memories.

  • I lived in Pinetamare from 92-94. I didn't live in the the Towers but did work @ the bar in the Fontana Bleu. WOW!!!!! This sure brings back memories. Crazy times!!!

  • Lived there from 1984 -1987. Use to walk to sneak over to the arcade on my way home from school. For those of you who remember the Chinese guy that ran arcade next to the towers sadly he passed . I still keep in touch with Italian and American friends I made then. If anyone lived there when I did hit me up.

  • What's going on at AFSOUH now? Is Potswalley Pete still around and Commissary Mary still on the wall? I was with USAEAFSOUTH from 86-89 and lived in the towers. I drove a beat up Fiat through squeeze alley every day hitting and scraping my way to work. It was fun! All the Italinas were wired on Espresso and drove like mad men. A buddy and me drove through the squeeze on the way home one day and I was wearing a jason mask it really freaked the locals out.

  • I lived in the 8th tower on the 3rd floor 86-89. Had a lot of good times and good friends at good old pinatamare elementary, playing ball at carney park, and the pizza was the best in the world. Miss those days.

  • wait yeah tony the fat dude with the glasses he thought i was stealing from his raggitty pizzeria

  • Lived there 87-90 I remember tony pans. I got kicked out of the spot. I remember those stramboli's. I fell off one of the slides at the park in the front that had the deck where you could look over and see people getting busy in their car. lol ...

  • I lived there as a kid from 83-85. I remember Tony Pan Pan's Chinese Restaurant. Those balcony's were crazy but you saw some of the best sunsets

  • We lived in 7th tower I think the 10th floor. But we moved cause my baby brother almost fell of the balcony.

  • OMG ....I lived in the 6th tower, 10th Floor, Apt 37..'88-94...i miss Italy soooooo much...Does anyone remember Mr.Tony the guy who owned the pizzeria at the 1st tower???...delicious pizza!

  • OH man, I used to live in tower 7 6th floor. We stole the sign for the floor when we moved! I was trying to find the towers on Google Maps, now I know why I couldn't find it/ Lived there from 89-92

  • Wow! I was stationed in Naples from 95-99 and although I never lived in the towers, my sponsor when I first arrived did and I spent more than a few nights on her couch. I remember going to the movies out there too. Hulu has a great video that shows how that whole area has declined as the Camorra and Nigerian mafia fight for control of the prostitution and drug trade.

Youtube won't let me post the link but go to Hulu -> Vanguard -> Cocaine Mafia episode

    Very sad indeed.

  • OMG!!! i had no idea they did that-wow. We lived in the 5th tower-10th floor-apt 38 (i know im not the only one that stillhas that info memorized-lol!) from 88'-92'.

  • io abito la erano bei tempi eh?

remember massimo migliaccio player basketball? antoine paige?

where are all the inhabitants of the towers we make a group on facebook ok?

  • yeah i remember Massimo he was a good player,

but i don't remember of you...

    do u steel live there?

    under macerie???

  • So sad to see this go... My family lived on the third floor of the second tower in 1979-1980 when I was 9 and 10 years old...

  • Holy shit I didnt know this happened!! When I wasnt in school(Naples Elem) I pretty much spent most of my time here. Hell I forgot which towers. Maybe the 5th or 6th. Had babysitters that lived here. Haha. I remember her daughters name. Jadae...Jones I think? I remember the park. Haha and the Youth Center. My step dad was the DJ. I found an old ass cross- bow in the bushes one time. I also remember this old abonded VW beatle that we use to play around in. I was there around 92 to 93. Good times.

  • awesome...I was at naples elem from 93-96 or so...was just looking around google maps then saw that the towers were demolished...craziness!

  • nui stamm ancor e cas ka la sott e maceri

  • my father had the office in one of the garages in the 4th tower, he was known as the cable guy from 1987 to 1996 when everyone moved out, anyone who lived therein that time frame had his cable service. does anyone remember???

  • I remember your dad. My family lived directly above his office from '89 to '91.

  • yes, i remember him too, his name was Ralph Magno. Cool guy...

  • YES, I do remember, and your mother must have had the cooking show! They were wonderful people. I lived in Tower 5 from 1992-1994!

  • I remember. i lived in Tower 7 from 1989 - 1992. I remember watching Euro MTV w/Downtown Julie Brown!

  • I lived there from 82-86 in the second tower, second floor. Alot of good memories then.

  • I used to live in the 3rd tower on the 12th floor during 1994-ish. I always liked this place except for the stray dogs that were known for attacking, lol. I even attended the youth center that was right in there also.

  • they should of done all them at same time so it would of been dominos

  • dolson72

this was build up from the local mafia "CAMORRA" in protect area.... after that was confiscated and used from US army NATO base in Italy....

  • They were a crappy place to live, needed to be condemned, and it's good they're gone, but a part of me is sad, too... I lived there from 1992 - 1994, as a kid while we were stationed there. We moved out when our apartment did get condemned.

  • They would have been a nice place to live had the Govt. paid closer attention to what they were paying for and the had the people who lived in them taken more pride in what they had. I played a huge role in condemning them after the E-coli break out. Prior to that though we still had people letting dogs pee in the elevators, kids trashing things, standard apt. life with NO regulations or control.

Pinetemare was/is a beautiful place to live. OK has worse than the Towers!

  • lived there from 1993 to 1996.

  • I can't believe it. So sad they came down.

  • I'm so happy they did it and americans went away! btw..now they are in gricignano..in a texas ranch. :D
