Very Nice. Great way to thing out of the box. Try putting tropical house plants over the return side let the lower part of the pot touch the top of the water. Three things happen (1) it will help deaden noise (2) roots will extend into the water helping clean the water (3) the plants will grow over the river edge of your tank. Should look great, but i don't know if the tank would take the weight of the above water plant and soil? Like I said great tank

I have a 900 litre tank that cycles 6k an hour, Less than 2.5k an hour is too low, So No you don't just need to cycle the amount of water in the tank.. There are other factors to consider.. Stock, Media used, Feeding...
