Good thing they still kept it simple without much orquestation or other things, but where are the Burns Bass and the Grestch guitar? that guitar is much too small and the headless bass no, no, just kidding, great group, much under apreciated, actually forerunners of pop-punk, GO TROGGS!
@LastTree I saw The Troggs in NYC in 2000. They were ON FIRE. No oldies/cabaret mentality bullshit , just pure , balls - out rockin'. They came back a few years later to play at Little Steven's outdoor festival (2004 , I believe.) , and did a promo performance of "Wild Thing" in the street , as well. But , I think they've only played on the East Coast in the last 10 to 20 years , probably few or no other US dates. Sadly , I also heard they've retired from performing.
@LastTree Really , OOOOHHHH , NO !!!!!! But , if it's true , those men worked harder than any five bands , and deserve a break. Who knows what 'll happen next ?
@LastTree Hey , I want to apologize for saying The Troggs were retiring as a live act , as it turns out , what I heard was wrong . They have several dates coming up , including next Friday , if you go to The Troggs' main website. It may be that they have an eye on retiring , but they have yet to. Reg told me , when I interviewed them , "You can go away from it for a month , and when you come back to it , you just have NERVES , and you just sort of GO for it , that's how it's always been".
@pfordsq Well it's good to know that they are still gigging. Unfortunately they are in the UK and I am not ;(...I love their renditon of Love is All Around....
The hotshots today get incredible play.....from their current album! And then it all disappears from the waves. Great Bands and singers will have such quality material that at least one or two songs will be taken off a recording collection and continued to be played along side any new stuff, and this process continues throughout their career until they retire and have a reliable greatest hits that is already in steady rotation.
In 5 yrs U will find Troggs before Justin T and Jonas
The Troggs, like all of us who grew up in the 60's, have aged wih the years. However, all of us who loved the Troggs back then, will certainly still love the Troggs now. They still bring back special memories for me. Thankyou for posting this.
a bunch of "has-beens"? what's your problem? these guys have devoted their entire lives to rock n' roll and still put on a great show. they've had lots of great hits and still like playing them for their fans. better then being a "never-been" like you.
Only two of them are original and they have not had a hit since pete left back in 1970. they are past it. I certainly don't deserve personal attacks from someone who dose not even know me just because i chose to air my opinion.
No, and you do not know The Troggs, but felt like you could say something that may hurt their feelings. So, they haven't had a hit in a while, so what? It's not for lack of trying. Should they lay down and die now?
I saw The Troggs play a date in Aldershot in 1966 as a first concert date with my new girlfriend. We have been married for 40 years this month and The Troggs are still my favorites.
I SAW THE TROGGS , ONCE , IN 2001. THEY WERE PHENOMENAL. YOU CAN'T ALWAYS HAVE EVERYBODY THERE , SADLY , BUT THE TROGGS , CREATION , DOWNLINERS SECT AND PRETTY THINGS BRING ON THE ROCK. I hope the recent live Troggs DVD comes out in all formats. They've got fans in The States , too....
I KNOW , not a big deal , but I saw that and wanted to correct it. That's a very nice story from dexrex. You know , Reg and his wife have been married longer , still.
Some one should put a show together with these ever lasting 60s bands and do a world tour.including Australia.Let the world see what my generation called Rock music.Troggs,Hollies,Sorrows,Easybeats,Animals,Pretty Things,Stones all on the same bill imagine!
I saw the Troggs about 4 times in the '80s & they were great. Ronnie Bond (RIP) was still around & they still had mostly their original gear (which sadly got ripped off). Once, the bassist (using a full bass rather than a half-finished one as seen here) managed to bust not 1 but 2 strings, so Ronnie did a drum solo, eventually accompanied by Chris B whilst he attempted to tie them back together finally giving up the ghost & finishing the set with just the two middle strings. Class! Roll on, Reg.
All best wishes to Reg , family ,friends , and the Troggs, and thanks for all the fantastic music and concerts.
Hope you are feeling a lot better soon, Reg, and enjoy your retirement.
