ive wanted to be a tourniquet man....ive wanted to keep her as a favor. even though the bitch just needs a rag to stop her bleeding heart. ill be that pathetic rag
The story behind this entire album is scary in itself. These are the lyrics of spirits, be they god or evil, they took the story they received from another dimension and carved them into this world forever. These are the words we are not supposed to hear, and I love every second I get to appreciate the unsettling feeling I get from the other side. And for any one to be chosen to decipher and share these stories is amazing.
actually no, after their sound guy died from heroin overdose in the early years of the volta. they promised to not use opiates ever again.
and alot of this albums ideas were actually given to them by a very unique ouija board that was given to cedric as a gift from omar. it was an original ouija board from Jerusalem.
and the demon that would speak to them was told to actaully be three different ones speaking together but went by the name of Goliath. hence the album name.
I don't get all the hate for this song. It has a great atmosphere, and the vocal effects at "Let me be your Tourniquet MANNNNN" is really haunting. I've always viewed Wax Simulacra, Goliath and Tourniquet Man as a single piece split into three songs, listen to them all in a row and you'll see that Tourniquet Man deserves it's spot on the album.
@immugio they are both different, if you like ADTI MORE THAN TMV you should listen to Sparta. For me, Adti was awesome because Cedric and Omar create the idea of the band. it's the same thing with TMV.
This is one of the better songs on goliath. This album really let me down though. Goliath to me was the album that would define the mars volta. Would they ascend above their own sound and make a truly epic rock album that will change the genre (the way in casino out did)? Or would they just keep on making what they do best? They defintley did the latter with this album and IMO, they have passed the point of no return, all their albums from here on out will sound like frances the mute.
i actually dont think this album sounds like frances the mute at all - different structure, different theme, different emotion. every mars volta album has been a peak for me so far.
you know what makes bedlam a lot better? take this song completely out and replace it with the track calibration. this track is like a steve perry b side
I don't know if it still stands but I read an interview with Omar where he stated that he is all for downloaded music. In his words 'free music is music in it's purest form'.

Bedlam, being at volume 10 (or 11) needs tracks like this for contrast, and the melody is haunting and beautiful.

this is the worst song on the album i was really disappointed.
some of the other tracks like metatron, goliath, and agadez are amazing but this really lowers the bar.
