  • I am kind of confused guys. My info is: height: 5'7, weight: 170lbs., target weight (for a BMI of 21) is 135 lbs, so I need to lose 35lbs. I am slightly overweight here, so I need to do a minor cut...

    If I have been seriously lifting for a while now, are you guys saying that I will lose all that progress trying to get lean? If yes, should I just stop lifting and focus solely on cardio to cut and then lift after im done cutting?

    135 at 5'7is way too small bro. I'm about the same height and used to be 135, and trust me that weight doesn't look right on a guy. Try to get to a lean 150. Don't stop weight training because you want to keep your lean muscle mass. Focus on your diet, cut down on the carbs and fats and eat more protein. Do about 20 to 30 minutes of cardio 4 times a week and you should be good by the summer.

  • @Shamyrl Thanks for the advice. I was looking at a bmi graph, and noticed that 135 is the median weight for the "healthy" range. Thats why I said 135.

    I also said 135, because I'm aiming for a more lean, cut swimmers body that is swole but not massive

  • could you still eat slow carbs and go under 10-12 procent body fat if you do alot of cardio, and if sow when you are on the weight you wanne be in,lets say 8 procent, and than storp the cardio and adjust the calories to maintain that specific weight you wanne bee in, anybody?=)

  • @zipzap240 dont completely cut carbs out, you need them to restore glycogen in your muscles and without it you would lose a lot of mass, just eat them around exercise (before and after) just about 200 calories of carbs pre and post workout. maybe more if you are doing legs or a lot of sets. but yeah if you get down to where you wanna be and adjust your diet to just maintenance calories you should be good. probly wanna eat more protein though

  • @xgm4life idk about creatine i dont take it, but i think you still take it not sure. but yeah keep wroking out as you did before. you should eat the same amount of calories but do more cardio say like 40 minutes a day of walking on a treadmill w/ incline and a brisk pace (about 4 mph). Start off slow though do like 20 min for 3 days 30 min for 3 days and then 40 for the rest of your cut

  • @TheMasculion yh you can thats called carb cycling , but zyzz was on a keto diet , he still got 30 grams of carbs per day. if you're bf % is 15 and lower then use carb cycling , 2 days around 20 g of carbs 1 day around 140 to 150 carbs depending on you're bodytype

  • Do a carb cycle. Three days low carb, then one day carb load. Repeat until you reach desired body fat percent. This preserves a lot muscle while dropping fat quickly.

  • @FrancoSerrao on the days you lift, warm up with like 5 to 10 min cardio, slow walk and at the end of that strength workout do a 10 to 15 min slow walk. wont lose any muscle trust me. uhhh also for lifting days increase carbs with a lot of protein but when you dont lift for a day, dont eat as much carbs and just still have a lot of protein. you can do it dude! i lost 80lbs too exactly, what a coincidence but years ago i did haha good luck man

  • @flick07051986 you're basically asking how to maintain muscle? thats easy. figure/calculate the amount of calories you need to consume to maintain and that's it. i have fast metabolism i can eat all the sweet stuff i want and not gain much fat really. depends on the person too...

  • hey guys I'm around 12 % body fat and trying to get below 10 and finding it hard, I'm trying to keep my carbs around 100, my fats are usually around 80 and protein is about 160, but I'm finding it hard to reach my daily calorie intake 2100, what foods would help me reach this on low carb days?

    im 150 pounds and i am 17, i already eat a lot of nuts, tuna, eggs...

    any ideas guys?

  • @ScentlisApprentice lol being on the juice doesn't mean you will instantly become Arnold size. It's still what you eat, how hard you workout, all the stuff normal people do. A lot of powerlifters guys who are lifting 1000lbs on the bench are on the juice and they look like fat fucks. Look at natural bodybuilders and there arms are always smaller than there chest or back because those muscle are secondary to the larger ones. Vinny is prob not on it and maybe Pauly D. Ron and Sitch 100% are

    When your body type is muscular, it's the same as it being skinny or a fat-ass.... You don't have to do much to keep it the same. It's easy to maintain it and naturally fluctuate ~3% in body fat with the same muscle mass depending on how much activity you are doing.

    Muscle is a dense tissue. Once you tighten it, during myofibrillar hypertrophy, it is pretty much there to stay.

    The Shore kids gained & tightened it... Finito!!!

  • @jaimepo8 of course you can! Too many people are too paranoid about cardio, I think. Think about this generation's NBA players. You think they don't do tons of cardio? I personally do high-intensity cardio 3-4 times per week and haven't lost any muscle at all (in fact, gained).

    I was around 8%, 150 lbs, and I went on a not-even-that-dirty bulk for only 3 weeks before my scale read 185 lbs , 14% BF.

    Can you fucking believe that? I feel fat as hell right now, I grew a gut and love handles in 3 weeks, WHILE lifting with a bit of cardio.

    Fuck my body.

  • @SOGGRAB you may have had too much of a calorie surplus, my daily calories are only about 300 over maintenance. I started ,y bulk at 195 7% BF and now Im 210 8% BF

  • Creatine does not promote water retention anyways. Water retention above the muscle and below the skin is what most of us deem as "water retention" that you don't want. Creatine does not promote this, but it does promote water to be drawn into the muscle, which is always good. So no need to worry about "water retention" with creatine.

If I do it right after the weight training, that kinda messes up the 45-60 min duration that I am trying to limit my workouts to... Should I count the cardio in that window or just leave it separately?

  • Theres one thing I have to disagree with them on is the intense cardio stuff. I play football, so about 2, sometimes 3 times a week im doing football drills and circuits in extremely high intensity. I do incorporate this with my lifting. I havent lost an ounce of fkn muscle and im actually growing. The cardio thats bad for muscle is cross country type shit. U can do intense cardio guys, just do it for short intervals and never go beyond 30 minutes altogether

  • this is true, i was doing carb cycling got ripped and then kept it going and started loosing muscle mass on my legs and arms, now ima start doing a clean bulk goona try and hit 85 - 90kg right now im at 78kg, when i first started at the gym i was 115kg :P

  • I thought 10 min of high intensity was good for boosting natural HGH. Better fat burn up to 48 hours instead of the slow fat burning zone for just the time you're walking.

  • that whole your gonna burn all your muscle by doing intense cardio is a myth! To burn muscle doing cardio, you would A- have do have dangerously low bodyfat%, and B- you would have to do very intense cardio sessions for a very long period of time. Muscle is the last thing to go during cardio.

  • Alright so I've been trying to cut for 2 months now and have lost a ton of fat by cycling my carbs. 1 day with high carbs 1 day with low carbs and 2-3 days NO carbs, only from green leafy shit. I think I'm down to about 12% BF roughly, I can see my upper abs, but if I were to cut carbs completely for 2 weeks would I fuck some shit up or am i in the clear. Thanks guys.

  • @flick07051986 Well yeah a little, thats why they try to watch their diet and try to get to the gym as much as possible. but being on juice has a big effect on helping to keep muscle and recovering quicker. The only thing is if you drink and eat at the same time your body is working to get rid of the alcohol while the food sits in your stomach and turns to fat. Drinking doesn't effect the muscle unless your natty in which case it drops your test levels.
