i just bought one and i quite fancy it! exceptional value for money, that's for sure!
has anyone tried it with the ROLAND FD-8 hi hat controller. roland says that it provides smooth hi hat transitions from closed to open. i wonder if the control pad supports that!
@rachmaninov46 i want to plug this into my laptop through usb. will there be latency? i don't have a dedicated soundcard, but i've got a sweet computer.
Yes! I just bought one tonight. Don't buy the crappy yamaha. To much latency. There are two identical pedals - Alesis own and Korg's. The only thing that differ is the brand name and price.
I'm using keyboard sustain pedals of Alesis and Korg. If you say they have a hi-hat for the control pad I have to check it out cause a pedal is not the ideal way of doing it.
the hi hat pedal (separate item) is not like a real drum. More like hitting a pad, which is a bit confusing and really doesn't work that well. Other than the strange open hi-hat this is a great deal!
Yep, it onyl supports "Trigger Inputs", it does not support velocity sensitive inputs.
I bought the Ion IED04 from ThinkGeek for 100 dollars US, it is the EXACT same as the Alesis Performance Pad which retails for $300 US or €300 from thomann.
you got some serious latency!

At last, a decent review of the Alesis Control Pad!
Those Gearwire presenters could learn a thing or 2 watching this.
Thanks for uploading it. :)

Any tips on how I could fix a working hi-hat as an addon or as a separate midi input with velocity sensitive inputs?
Although I can hit them with different velocities and strength, it's the order of thing that get's confusing with the hi-hat. It's just not normal!
