  • Cajuns... how are you........ :D

  • haha this guy is such a god-awful singer. Still love his music though

  • my dad introduced me to jj cale.he made me a few blues cd's jj cale mostly but this is a better copy of it. totaly different live much more pain in his voice

  • You are a guitar hero, when you don't even look 1nce at yer neck, and nothing is missed.

  • Please, some help to play this song myself would be awesome ! Open chord tuning ?

  • Now I understand, what fascinated me so much about Dire Straits, when I first heard them: It was that J.J.Cale spirit!

  • Lots of talent from Oklahoma. JJ and Leon are two of my all time favorite singer/songwriters.

  • @hantejudy I know i didn't know we had this kind of talent, it was his own self promotion that got me into him too. I was trying out some guitars at a music store playing some blues riffs (badly) and this guy walks up and goes "do you like blues?" and i go "yeah, but i'm new to it but i'm loving SRV, B.B. King, and Eric Clapton" so he goes "check out a man named JJ Cale, he was an influences on Clapton" so i did, and it was him that told me that, i had no idea who he was.

  • j j cale , born and raised a TRUE OKLAHOMAN,,,just like leon russell,, and countless more from OUR GREAT STATE,,, if everyone starts to look, there has been more musical talent come out of this old RED DIRT,, than anywhere on the planet,, if by chance you were fortunate enough to be born and raised here,, YOU UNDERSTAND

  • you are right about knopfler emulating j.j. also, eric clapton was orbiting around him. we are all lucky to have the three of them out there.

  • someday baby

    you gonna want your man

    gonna find him gone

    in a tuna can

  • Clint Eastwood of Music

  • oh man what a sweet song...what a great musician!

  • I love his quick, understated phrasing ... like hearing him storytelling to music. Much more emphasis on blues in this take. I really like the singers, but JJ Cale's the original. Great stuff.

  • umm no disrespect to him or nobody else you take it how you want i really think he should have left that song alone randy sould better it was ment for her so yea no deallllllllllllllllllll

  • jj,cale and john martyn probably gave me my most treasured nite in my life..Plenty shrooms ,,music & ladies..As the sun rose jj sang Magnolia followed by john martyns ''couldn't love you more'' A fantastic nite and yes i met a lass and 27yrs later we still listen to proper music...Never did marry tho?

  • BOY IT WOULD BE SWEET FOR SOME RAP CAJUN

  • J. J. the Man....

  • Exxxcellenttt...

  • te cagas chaval, te cagas!!!! god bless jay jay!!!!

  • I like the way your site is set up maybe you can give me some pointers on mine - I really need to work on it

  • Those are some cool up loads keep up the good work!

  • ...I don't know anyone who underrates J.J.Cale as either a guitarist or a performing songwriter...maybe I don't get out enough...

  • this is an amazing man playing an amazing song

  • is he even singing? he's just throwing the lyrics at you

  • @LDZPLEN are you even making a valid comment? You're just throwing words everywhere.

  • Great...

    気まぐれで 愛しき Cajun moon

Can you hear ... this song ?

  • started out of tune and looks like he is under the influence of something, but it's a great song!

  • Damn i feel like i'm 1000 of the 480,000 views of this song

  • 13 people are japanese retards

  • coolest man on the planet.

  • brings back fond memories of my youth in berkeley ca smoking skunk and listining to the master

  • jj, you need a woman in the band. I was raised by brothers. I adore Valley Center. There is the "Crossroads" Wellness Center" a few doors down from my friends flower shop. Contact me. I won't trouble you anymore, but I feel Woodstock West coming. By the way, I'm aquarian, and I can sing like a banshee. Perfect pitch, bring it.

  • @MudbarrettThedork He has a woman in the band. At least in most of his videos on here he does.

  • man, sing me a song, don't recite it.

  • The unsung hero. Wonderful - any JJ fan should check out Klondike Pete & the Huskies Bubba's Song" and "Winter fun by snakehips" for more amazing laidback brilliance. Great stuff.

  • one of my heros

  • always been a fan..big resemblance to dire straits early on. remember hearing dire straits on the car radio for the first time back in the 70's..thought it was dylan. or jjcale. then got to see them live for about $8 at a concert in a school auditorium in denver. great memory.

  • Yes, I agree, Mark was listenening to JJ for sure .

  • Please can somebody make a tab from the live version??? PLEASE?

  • Underrated guitarist? Only for those who didn't know him.He kept low profile i only saw a picture of him when he was 40 years old.Believe me this is the first live i see.I wish he was traveling and been in Europe for concerts.

  • Tulsa sound to the hilt!

  • Legend Mr JJC

  • I was at this show in the front row, what a trip seeing this again. we met JJ and the band after the show, everyone was very cool. in front of the club I asked JJ where was the Limo? his reply to me was " This is the real world son" and he got in a yellow cab.

  • yeah baby. that sounds about right.

  • @1956gjb u better not made that up, cause its a great story

  • guitar sounds the exact same as after midnight, still great tune

  • Bollocks! Get yer ears cleaned, son.

  • FUCKING GREAT :)

  • Fascinating that the intro lasts around as long as the song - for anyone interested, check out Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, who were doing similar things in the British folk revival of the 60s (altho on acoustics). Young Knopfler hears them, then JJ, and what do you get?

  • Dire Straits early stuff was similar to this..Mark Knopfler listened to JJ..so it makes sense.

  • Picking with your fingers is where the sound's at.

  • Picking your nose with your fingers is where the boogers are at !

  • @seventiesclassic

Yes, JJ influenced everyone...Most of us like to be laid back, and JJ showed us how to do this...

  • @seventiesclassic Didn`t Mark and J.J play together for while, befor DS?

  • hmm its like john lee hooker spawned an offspring out of the swamp!

  • Thanks to albanorkrasniqi for sharing this one.. Good one!

  • He once wrote a song in wich the verses ended withb the text line -I'm gone fish-. I remenber it from the late 60's. Anyone?

  • The Old Man and Me (Okie?)

  • smooth!

  • JJ Cale, Robert Hunter and Dylan - Greatest Songwriters of the 20th Century

  • I LOVE J J Cale!

He is amazing and probably one of the best songwriters to have lived. The "Greats" played his music and called it their own.

    I LOVE J J Cale. <3

  • __.-))--he is a sensitiv `Kind`--One Love

  • ГЕНИЙ!!!

  • MAGIC

  • "cool" er hat keine effekthascherei nötig.

  • yes he is the original to this style

  • really great ! Thx !

  • i wanna see he playing call the doctor!!!!!

is there any video of him playing that song? some show maybe?

  • No.

J.J. Cale was never one to fancy fame. He liked the slow, relaxed pace of obscurity instead of the harsh, fast-paced demand of fame.

  • @Mythosician06 You're totally and finally right...somebody that could simplify and with some few words could define J.J. Cale.

    Tx.

  • @Mythosician06, while that is true, no one is impressed by your knowledge you just seem like a fucking tool.

  • @chadmilich it happens on all videos man, some cracked out parent lets there stupid-ass child on youtube past there bedtime and we have a "13 yr old trying to fit in" look at me im a big kid..

  • @Mythosician06 you are not kidding I always loved him and never bothered to see what he looked like, I thought he was a old black blues singer for years :)

  • @Mythosician06

How on earth do you know that for sure?

  • nice!

  • was mark knopfler influenced by cale because that reminds me of mark knopfler.

  • yes he could the inspiration of mark knopfler guitar playings..

  • Knopfler's said that he listened to a lot of Cale's stuff when he was developing his style, so it makes sense.

  • makes sense to me notaphaser, always love them both :)

  • Yea also Chris Rea Daytona, got the same

    kind of backing.

  • german 58er loves this music

  • heheh... ;)

  • hungarian 63er loves this music

  • hehe, fuck censorship and once again Im actualy think he is on cocaine xD

    nothing bad about it

  • damn! he's so cool!!!

JJ Cale is one of the greatest and most underrated guitarists of all time!

  • @serphim90 , no doubt about that

  • Simplicity is an art form n JJ does it better.

"Took my baby way too soon

what have u done Cajun Moon "

  • My name is cael. Wow, I just figured out there is a famous guitarist with my name. I play guitar too. :)

  • Just great!

  • this guys the shit, we're all real proud hes got his ranch out here in san diego county now. buy the Road to Escondido!!

  • gość jest zajebisty dobrze ze są tacy ludzie

    from poland

  • Nobody loves JJ more than The Beat Beggars from Rochester, NY... find us on youtube...many JJ songs with some unique renditions. "I don't care what momma don't allow. We're gonna play JJ anyhow..."

  • Cool turned up to 11.

  • I heard a cover of this song done a female, possilby black, that was much better than the original. Who knows the singer I am talking about?

  • Randy Crawford!

  • Might have been the Maria Muldaur version.

  • There's a listing on Amazon for Herbie Mann's version, which features Cissy Houston. ..possibly off of an album titled "Surprises," with a release date of Aug. 14, 2001. On the Atlantic label? / Warner Special projects release???

I've heard other versions, myself. And like another J.J. Cale version, uploaded here on youtube.

  • This guy is the real deal. Love his style.

  • JJ has certainly come out of his shell. I saw him play in London in the late 70's and he hid behind the drummer! What a talent..

  • during the 70s i studied in japan and i have to admit, that japanese know a lot more about western trends in musik than europeans or americans do. cale like the scorpions or roxy music where a top act the before any europeans heard about them.

  • This cat is one of the greatest songwriters to ever live..he's earned the right to sing or speak or whatever else he wishes to do.

When people like Clapton embrace him it's easy to igore comments from the peanut gallery.

  • Well said, Scooter!

  • this is way cool...this is the blues, not monologue. Lived in New Orleans for 4 yrs. and I'm cajun...awesome!

  • Its more like a monolouge, but hey great anyway.

  • OKIE:D:D

  • In my opinion Randy Crawford's version is way better then this, though it depends what you like because the genre's differ completely.

  • Cale's original on "Okie" is more like Randy Crawford's than the version on this clip.

  • Fantastic - Go Cale!

  • i agree, his voice is usually better. its off beat here, hes talking rather then singing

  • ...and that is cool

  • i love it°!

    Dani..

  • JJ Cale destroys all negativity!!!! Saw him live and was enthralled!!!! Way better than most I've seen, including Jack Johnson & Ben Harper.... who R unknown fans!

  • Absolutely Brilliant! Thanks for this!

  • JJ does it Naturally...thats the magic others try for and don't get, many impersonators but only one true JJ Cale.

  • what year was this shot?

  • 1990

  • Lets get something straight, JJ Cale is truely one of the best guitarist and songwriters of all time, but he sure aint one of the greatest singers.

  • not great singer?are you crazy, his voice is so smooth an cool...

  • so very true..Clapton credits him as one of his inspirations

  • His singing isn't as good as it usually is on this song. It's great most of the time.

  • great singer and songwriter

  • I first heard JJ Cale when I was backpacking across central Asia in 1976 and have been crazy about him ever since! Every time I hear his groovy songs, I go back to that care-free time. So many legendary songwriters came out of that decade (and there were more that didn't make it too .....)

  • I saw JJ Cale at the Nashville Speedway about 1970. He sat on a stool with his back to the audience the whole freakin show.

  • nicht nur einer der besten songwriter...sein gitarrenspiel ist derartig reduziert, kein riff zuviel kein akkord zuwenig, punktgenaues timing.timeless music

  • JJ is one of the less that don't care for what others may think of him. He's my goeroe

  • J. J. Cale is one of the all-time best songwriters.

  • This is The music.

  • JJ, you are one of the greatest singer-songwriter of the century, I love You a lot, glad You´r back !!!

  • cajun moon...good number

  • to skeletine, who you will see commented a few posts down. this is is possibly the coolest, most laid back, spine tinglingly great version of this song ... having said that all music is subjective. JJ is god. I would have him, jimi hendrix, tommy emmanuel (who if you havent heard of i reccomend you look u) brian setzer and stewart copeland round for a big old jam filled with many-an obligatory doob. god bless them all

  • This song is always good to listen to with a few mates beers and big J

  • I love JJ Cale, grew up listening to him.

  • J J Cale i discovered in 1976 when played Troubadour havent stopped listening to "God" since

  • JJ Cajun rules

  • Indeed, this grandmaster is beyond criticism...one million stars for OkiOki

  • CALE RULES

  • Indeed. He defines awesome like the age old pirate-ninja debate never could.

  • JJ is the real deal, and in my head, beyond criticism.

One of the very finest artists America has ever produced. songs that get in your head forever. Thank you for your beautiful songs and for inventing being laid back - Richard

  • bullshit he ruined nothing he is who he is
