  • So God send His only Son Jesus, who was perfect and holy, like we should have been. His blood was enough. It was the only way to bring us back to God. Why? We don't really know, because God is God. Be still and know. He does not have to render accounts for His works. He loves us, that's why He gave His Son.

  • @JoGer1991

"He does not have to render accounts for His works. He loves us, that's why He gave His Son."

He's the Master of the Universe isn't he?

Why bother with the corruption of human morality and the subsequent blood bath to atone for it?

Why bother with any of it in the first place?

  • @Hammersley1967 Because He IS the Master of the universe. He made it! He didn't put it aside after creating it. He made it for Himself, to be glorified. So He is bothering anything that happens. Because He made it. Loves it. He does not want to destroy it - which is His right.

  • Ummmm... you don't have to know someone status/power to ask them a question. Plus, you have to admit that "God works in mysterious ways" doesn't make sense. When an action is made (by anyone, even a GOD) it must have an end and a repeated use in the same way. That is "how something works". If not, it is know as random, by pure HAPENSTANCE. So god (aka, the Earth/Whatever) just does shit randomly.

  • "If you cant understand the concept of God, then wondering why he does something is a mute point, is it not?"

Who says "I can't understand the concept of God"? You?

As a raised Catholic, I understand the concept of god - I just don't believe in it...

Why does a non-belief in god make my questioning of Christian doctrine "a mute point"?

    Explain?

  • it is a moot point bc even if it were spelled out for you..your ears and heart are closed and you wont recieve the truth anyway...no one can explain why, or how to you all we can do is presnt you with the truth, other than that we are wasting breath, but you know this already..right

  • "no one can explain why, or how to you"

    I wonder why?

Because you guys don't even understand your own bullshit...

"all we can do is presnt you with the truth"

If it were the truth, then you would be able to explain it clearly and succinctly...

    You cant... Why?

Because it is a myth that doesn't make sense...

  • "First you must acknowledge the power of the president before you can ask why he sent her. Right?"

    Nope.

Whether or not I believe in god, it does not follow that I can't question the rationale of the "divine law"...

How does not acknowledging the "the power of the president" relinquish my right to question the his/her policies?

This REALLY is a silly metaphor and line of argumentation you are taking here...

  • "Your question wasnt does God exist? because you must assume that the writer of Without blood, there is no remission of sin., actually exists to then ask why that was said."

WTF? That makes no sense whatsoever...

  • "This is not hard to figure out."

Given the fact that you have absolutely failed to give a sensible explanation as to why "the only thing that can really remove guilt is the sacrifice of the innocent", I can only surmise that YOU "haven't figured it out yet" - in any way, shape, or form...

Because "god says so" is not an explanation...

Even President Obama has a rationale for, and explains his directives....

    Sorry, no cigar...

  • "God sets the rules and that is a rule. Sorry so simple, but if you think about it, the only thing that can really remove guilt is the sacrifice of the innocent. Are you in need of something more definitive?"

    Definitive? No.

But something that actually makes sense would be good!

"The only thing that can really remove guilt is the sacrifice of the innocent" because "god says so" does not make sense - no matter how much ANYONE "thinks about it".

"God's" (your) argument is a non sequitor...

  • A man with sin can't take sin away, Jesus was without sin so He could take it away. And why Jesus was a sacrifice to cover our sins is because in the old testament God told us the one way to remove sin is to sacrifice a "clean" animal and He makes that very clear in Leviticus. And it shouldn't be hard to understand that a robber can't tell you not to rob and therefor a sinner can't tell you or take away your sins, only the pure and perfect in spirit can, and that only one is Jesus Christ.

  • "because in the old testament God told us the one way to remove sin is to sacrifice a "clean" animal and He makes that very clear in Leviticus."

God created the universe didn't he?

So why would he create a universe in which sin existed at all.

(No doubt you will say that "he gave us the gift of "free will" - *yawn*)

Moreover, why would he create a universe in which the "one way to remove sin is to sacrifice a "clean" animal"?

Why bother with any of this circus in the first place?

  • The reason the sacrifice was necessary was because Gods wrath had to be put down, God had to punish us and one of the ways to do it was to sacrifice a clean animal, remember people lived off of animals for a long time. God loves us more than animals so he'd rather punish the animals although people were and still are punished for their sins. Like I can't type out the whole answer to you as it is a complicated topic, but why don't you go as your local pastor, or do you not want an answer.

  • "The reason the sacrifice was necessary was because Gods wrath had to be put down, God had to punish us and one of the ways to do it was to sacrifice a clean animal"

You're just reiterating the same nonsensical argument and not answering my question: Why?

"God loves us more than animals so he'd rather punish the animals although people were and still are punished for their sins"

Once again, God created the universe, so why bother with the whole sin/redemption circus in the first place?

  • @Hammersley1967 Why don't you ask Him?

  • @JoGer1991

    Who?

  • @JoGer1991

    Where is he?

  • @Hammersley1967 Everywhere. If you're just willing to see Him. Reed the Bible, chapters 37-41 of Job.

God is the Holy One, He cannot bear our sins. He should have condemned us for eternity and demand our blood, but our blood will never fully pay. Our works will never be enough. In the Old Testament God gave the commandment to sacrifice animals, because He wanted blood to pay the sinners dept. But their blood wasn't enough too. They had to sacrifice over and over.

  • @JoGer1991

"Everywhere. If you're just willing to see Him."

Oh I willing to see Him...

    Why wouldn't I be?

I've never experienced an omniscient, omnipotent, benevolent, interventional, creative being or intelligence in my life...

    I've prayed... meditated... looked...

    Nup... Can't see Him...

  • @Hammersley1967 Then I cannot help you, none of us. God has another plan with you.

  • "I can't type out the whole answer to you as it is a complicated topic, but why don't you go as your local pastor, or do you not want an answer."

    Oh, I want the answer...

It's just that you are just incapable of giving to me...

But don't feel badly - I've asked the very same question Catholic priests, Protestant pastors and even Catholic arch bishops...

Like you, they were also incapable of answering this simple question which brings the entire Christain doctrine into doubt...

  • Omg! This movie is awsome!

  • "It's better to decide than to straddle the fence all your life."

I have heard this cliche from theists and atheists alike all my life. Whenever someone says this to me in regards to theosophical matters I always ask:

    WHY?

  • "Will you listen?"

    I'm all ears...

  • "Don't ask your pompous questions without having done your own research. God can answer for Himself"

    1) In case it wasn't CLEARLY obvious already, I guess I should point out that I don't believe that god existws...

    2) I've done and am doing "the research" by asking Christians (as well as having read the bible) such as yourself this simple question. To date neither your book of fairy tales nor ANY Christian has provided an adequate or even remotely convincing answer.

    Nothin', nada, zilch...

  • Rather than engaging in ad hominem attacks on me, hiding behind your "all-knowing" god, and directing me to a book of fairy tales, why don't you actually defend your belief system by attempting to answer this quite obvious and simple question - and then be accountable for that answer?

Either you can answer the question or you can't. Your entire belief system is dependent upon your answer to this straightforward question.

How 'bout it Christian soldier? Not too much of a stretch for ya is it?

  • "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."

    Why?

  • Eh, my friend played a small role in this movie but it looks just lame...

  • I just watched (half an hour ago) this ridiculous fucking movie on cable.

At the end, the Welsh hillbillies swap one ludicrous superstition for another.

What a wonderful tribute to the rational liberation of mankind... NOT!!!

  • You live in a life much more miraculous than I do!: That life could be here without a Creator.

I know that life is created and maintained by God, and that Jesus came to earth to make payment for sin.

    This is reality.

  • Really? And you KNOW this?

With a complete vacuum of evidence for this "truth"?

And this "truth" is "truer" than all those other superstitious "truths" that have fallen by the wayside over the millenia of human existence (such a the Greek and Pagan gods)?

And this "Creator" does not have a creator of its own? It just "is" without a prior cause - thus defying the fundamental "cause and effect" law of the Universe?

No my friend, YOU indeed live a far more miraculous life than I ever will...

  • "Jesus came to earth to make payment for sin."

    Why?

God Almighty can do what ever He/She/It likes can't it? It created the Universe and its natural laws didn't it?

It can also intervene and break those laws whenever it chooses - right? So why go to the bother and heartache of conjuring up, torturing, and then extinguishing a "Son" in order to "wash away" the "sins of mankind"?

Why not just "cut to the chase" and wash 'em away in the first instance, and do away with the charade?

  • "This is reality."

I'll inform the editors of the Oxford English Dictionary of this new definition of the term "reality"...

  • Somebody once told me they were putting on Welsh accents in this film. How gullible was I!

  • Yeah, I guess you actually have to have some taste buds to know whether you are watching a good movie or not. Clearly you are missing yours.

  • this movie scared the crap out of me

  • It's a good movie. I really enjoyed it.

  • I just watched the movie... That is exactly what a belief in imaginary gods produces...

    P.S.

    Mythos?!?! ;O)

    Katalyzt

  • Very very Deep movie.

  • i think jenna haze is the best sin eater. i like it when she eats more then one sin at a time. nevermind i'm fucking stupid, i know.

  • If we actually came from Adam and Eve wouldnt we all be a bunch of inbreds?

and why do people look different than others, natural selection doesnt back it up eg asian eyes, it wouldnt hav been shaped like that to adapt to there environment because most environments are the same.

i dont know if i believe in god, i mean i want 2 but theres not enough proof to make me

  • wat ever u end up doing with your prob if he iz real or not **i believe** if he iz real he will forgive if he'z not idk but yeah...WOOT good movie.... lol :p

  • man that is the best book i've ever read *other than the bible* and i had to read it for school!! ... *goes to an awesomely cool private school*

  • this movie is so fucking ghey, if you want to learn more about Sin Eaters, watch The Order!

  • The evidence of God is all around us. For those of us who believe, that is a fact that needs no scientific study to make it so. Your argument of 'science tells us otherwise' will never convince a true believer to stop believing, so you may as well stop trying. We are well aware that the existence of God will never be unequivocally proven through science & we're okay with that :-) Think about it - if that ever happened, there would be no need for faith & it is by that faith that we are saved.

  • although i do agree that god exists. and that science will most likely never prove gods existence, i must say that your argument (we're right because we believe we are) is a bit unreliable. For personal faith, that's a fine reason to believe in god. But when it comes to discussion or debate, you need something a little more substantial.

  • Had you actually read a bible you would know that time means nothing to God and that a hundred years could be but a day to God. So while science says that it is impossible to create a world in seven days it could very well have thousands of years. Would that not mean that both were correct? You need to spell check by the way.

  • And apparently I need to spell check myself. "...it could very will have been thousands of years" is what I meant to type.

  • You believe everything don't you? Just because somebody's name has P.H.D. next to it? Let me tell you something even though you wont listen, you don't have an absolute theory. There are holes in it. You can't explain why life started and even the very first single celled organisms are some of the most complex things on the planet. And Christianity promotes pacifism and same with most religions so if we would all follow religions there will be no war, murder, or crime.

  • But you know, if we don't believe in religions then we can start wars over land, skin color, money, and pretty much everything else. And lastly I have a feeling that you will call me an unintelligent racist just because I believe in a god. So maybe were racist because thats human nature and not because of a religion. Now Im happy that you were able to make a decision between science and religion but don't say that religion is a bad thing, because its not, it teaches the same morals you are.

  • omg..tht was such a good movie!!

  • don't take the Lords name in vain.

  • Cool! 0_0 I'm reading the book and love it..where can i watch the movie?

  • God bless you all.

  • This a a beautiful movie, It made roll my tears. I love the part when they get baptized and also when the girl asks "Does he have a name?" and the Man of God says "Yes, His name is Jesus" :)

  • is this the sequal to the sin eater movie, released in 2003??

  • No it's not a sequel to "The Order"

  • So, a practicing and faithful liberal Catholic? That means you believe what exactly?

  • I loved it!!!!! Its worth watching

  • 1 of my fave movies. :)

  • Have you actually seen this movie? I have not.

  • sorry... i wasnt JUST talking to you... why do you feel this way about this movie? i find it amazing and truthful about how you feel when you find God

  • What is with all you people???? have you acually Talked to God???? Well guess what I have I know the joy that comes over you when you speak to god and ask him to forgive you. and there are many others who feel the same. you know, you should really TRY somthing or GET TO KNOW HIM untill you judge

  • It looks like a interesting movie.

  • Yes, the book was definetly better than the movie. They left out so many good parts! And yeah, the accents get annoying. LoL

  • You know, you really suck. Do you even know ANYTHING about this movie?? You obviously havn't read the book. Save your opinions, no matter how itiotic, for all the other crap here on YouTube. This movie trailer is not one of them.

  • Now that I look back on it, they left out a lot of great scenes from the book. But it was still an awesome movie :)

  • SO fer real.

    I just watched this movie.

I've NEVER cried this much at a movie.

    My FAVORITE.

  • I loved this movie. Amazing story

  • i love this movie!!!! i love the name CADI!!!

  • I almost cried when they killed all the Native Americans.

  • This is an awesome family movie! I don't understand the pg-13 rating.

  • probably because of the killing. although, it's not gory at all. oh well. i suppose religious movies would be more modest in ratings. i loved this movie, it's my fave of all time. :)

  • I just read the book, it was awesome!!! And, there's a LOT of Fagan/Cadi moments. I won't tell you what happens in the end....

  • i saw the movie, but i didn't read the book, i didn't know there was one. :( i would have read the book first if i had known. o well. the title's the same, right? i'll have to look in my public library.

  • Don't belive the stupid critics bashing this one, it is indeed a great and touching film. Critics need to grow up, all they want is flashy effects and mindless killing in their movies..well you not gonna find that here just a great story thats all.

  • The movie wasn't exactly how I imagined - but I really liked it. The sin eater (Sim) was my favorite character, definitely.

  • me too :)

  • I have read the book and I cannot wait to watch the movie!!! I hope it is Great!

  • It was awesome!!!!!!! But it's rated PG-13.

  • ok I watched the movie and it is a good movie. I really enjoyed it! I thought it was pretty close to the book.

  • Fagan is for FINE!! <33

  • oH MY OH MY WOW !!!!

  • i liked this movie a lot. half the time their accents were a little off....but thats okay. GREAT MOVIE anyway. i definitely would recommend this to anyone.

  • Eventually, we all come to a place of facing our ugly self....alone. It is a very dark, troubling experience for most. If and when you experience this moment in time, watch this movie!! It will be the Gladiator and Braveheart X2 at that point in your life!

  • the movie looks gay, silly and boring

  • oh yeah? we'll YOU'RE an individual with an alternate lifestyle. (gay, lol. this is how my teacher said to say it. she also suggested "dunce-like." haha.)

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE! Definetly worth watching ever second of it was awsome!

  • tisk tisk

  • Im gonna eat me some sins!!

  • One of the best Christian movies i have seen! I cried from the start to the end :). May God allow more movies like this to be produced. It was about time! :)

  • gay!

  • Well then don't watch it, and stop acting a fool.

  • If everything sims not working out and u think der r no hope... then this flicks 4 u. Scripts not critically perfect, but this movies one of the best! Believ me, ill bet my own breath...

  • this movie totally rocks!! at first it was kinda scary..but i really enjoyed it...

  • I love this movie! A lot of critics said it wasn't good, but that's because they don't understand the importance of it. I'm also a fan of Francine's books, so this movie was a special to my heart! I loved it! Graet job!

  • As a person that has lived their entire life in middle and east Tennesse, Their used to be a very large Welsh Community here. Sad to know that all that way of life is fading away, but alot of it needs to go away too.

  • Why does it need to go away?

  • because her sister died and her parents blame it on her and she feels guitly

  • best movie i have ever seen in my life! i watched it last night! i HIGHLY recommend it!!

  • O, I want to see this movie!!

  • great trailer!

  • As a fan of Peter Wingfield I want to see this film. A friend who already saw it said...

"Yes, I saw it just this week. Great movie and Peter's role in it is amazing. It's about a Welsh tribe of Celtic people in the Appalachian Mountains in the eighteen hundreds. Peter plays the part of the last sin eater. I won't spoil it for you and say any more, other than Peter brought me to tears with his dramatic portrayal of this sad man. Go see it; you won't be sorry."

  • GO Liliana!!!

(she went to my church when she was younger ^_^

  • WOw I hope its as good as it lools
