  • This...I...Buh...guh...How have I managed to avoid this movie all these years?! I guess, I read "Jennifer Lopez" and I put it down. But her smear of unremarkability isn't enough to detract from how beautiful all this is. It is a shame though, that she was cast. Maybe someone eerie would be better, like Tilda Swinton or...I dunno, whoever. Anyone.

  • 1:16 that ladybug got like three feet of air that time.

  • Be Disturbed

  • the interesting thing is this porably more or less how dreams work. like this feels like one of the most acurate interprations of a dream i have ever seen.

  • The whole dream inspiration is so good! Dreams can be so surreal and freaky. Mine are anyway lol.

  • great movie

  • Its like if David Lynch was asked to make one of those disturbing and surreal stop motion clay films. But he forgot to use clay and stop motion and decided to use actors.

  • This whole film is visually stunning. This is probably like porn to Trent Reznor.

  • OMG! Is that blond Lady Gaga?

  • @MedicoreProductions silent hill

  • 4:20 reminds me of Closer by Nine Inch Nails

  • @MedicoreProductions

i recommend you "BEDTIME STORY" (a beautiful Madonna's song, wrote by BJORK!), an oniric videoclip by MARK ROMANEK.

Maybe an inspiration for THE CELL!

  • This looks like a double change of underwear trip. And this comes from someone who takes Zoloft.

  • who ever did this movie, had a weird imagination lol

  • hot

  • Haha, I want the same cape like this guy! ^_^

  • I wish Inception was a little creepier/crazier like this movie. Not that it was bad but since the movie was about dreams I wanted the environment to be more surreal.

On this scene...oh my god the horse splitting is freaky as hell

  • @MedicoreProductions Delicatessen, City of Lost Children

  • Extremely messed up

  • I love this! Thank you for posting!

  • @MedicoreProductions I recommend Angel Heart, Shutter Island, Fur: An imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus, The Pillow Book and Natural Born Killers to name a few favs. What Dreams May Come has already been mentioned & I agree. I've been watching clips of "The Fall" here on YT... can't wait to get it... it's by the same director... I think it'll fit what you're looking for. Hope this helps.

  • WHERE DO YOU COME FROM!

  • @MedicoreProductions

Try Drowned God. There's a longplay of it on here.

  • Wow, this really creeps me out.. but at the same time I can't stop watching.

  • a visual masterpiece.

  • I could nt watch this film when it came out cos i was 14 years old and for me was very scary! After ten years i watched it and i still feel the same fear!!!

  • What is the playing on tv while jen is n bed?

  • That's like the core of the movie (not dramaturgically but concerning imagery and music ("Tide Pool" is the best track from the OST i think, GREAT soundtrack btw) - Great someone uploaded it!!!

  • The horse seen is inspired by damien hirst. This movie was so scary in the cinema! It's not bad though. A different take on your usual physco thriller.

  • @MedicoreProductions Watch "The Fall" (I think it's a spanish movie) or perhaps "Night Watch" or "Day Watch" which are both Russian I believe. All have slightly surreal atmospheres.

  • im soooo high right now

  • @MedicoreProductions great though isnt it?

Pretty much everything from David Lynch is amazing

  • @MedicoreProductions ERASERHEAD feels like a nightmare the whole time in the best kind of ways =)

  • dellusions of grandure.

  • Jacob's Ladder is amazing, and it's what Akira Yamaoka based Silent Hill off of, among other things. In being that, it's more a Silent Hill movie than Silent Hill.

  • One of the best scenes ever- Tarsem is just too unrecognized.

  • @MedicoreProductions What Dreams May Come is a good one.

  • @BurningFetus

the scene where lopez ecounters the victim room, i dont get it, one is sitting in a dentist chair, one is sitting in the woods with plastic animals, one is abody builder and one is jumping up and down, is this suppose to explain how he killed them?

  • @suburbcinderella

I think its more so how Carl views his victims, or views women in general. They are all like life-like barbies, and hes doing weird experiments on them. and in his mind hes a god, with all his women puppets around him.

  • @BurningFetus the fall. by the same director. :)

  • @BurningFetus inception OH YEAH!

  • Anaconda ranks down there as one of the worst movies ever. Im glad you mentioned this one. Anaconda put me to sleep.

  • This is one of my faverite movies when i was little^_^ I have not seen it since but i want to, but i cant find it on youtube.

  • @JawsJaws I agree, all of those films are very well done. This film is noted for it's level of surrealism and different direction. It's a piece of artwork come to life. Ignore the sub-par acting from Lopez, and just sit back and enjoy the film's other aspects.

  • @BurningFetus yeah well while i agree its a pretty visualy stunning movie thats not enough to hold a flim

  • @JawsJaws Wow, you need to study some real films. The ones you listed are decent, but you're calling The Cell garbage? Do some research.

  • @JawsJaws

Whoa, if you don't like it, that's okay, but don't call it garbage - it has great aesthetics, the imagery and the soundtrack are pretty unique and therefore worth being, except i think they're genious! well, the movie doesn't tell us that much, i admit, but xou can have your thinking about the symbolisms used and your own mind...

this movie CAN be loved by many people and definitely deserves to.

The movies you listed ARE great, but that doesn't mean deviant films should be excluded...

  • @JawsJaws

    different stuff is ok too

you just named incredibly generic and widely liked movies

  • @JawsJaws I'd hate to see what movies you've been watching if you consider this the "worst movie ever."

Obviously you haven't seen Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus, or Alien 3000.

  • @BurningFetus I think after watching Billy Zane's "Invincible" I've never found another movie in existence "bad" LOL.

  • Are you saying anaconda was better? lol This movie was unique, the surrealism as pointed out was what it was going after. The special effects and imagination of a mind setting was interesting.

  • @JawsJaws The plot was lacking. The FBI or whoever they were couldn't look up his past employers and stuff to find out where the girl was? J Lo, Lola, Lolita or whatever she calls herself just didn't fit right. You saw all of the other captured girls/victims and how erotic he had them but she just sits on a bed fully clothed (not that I want to see her naked though to save her she was half dressed a lot). The visuals & surrealism was the best part and only thing that made this movie great.

  • @JawsJaws Obviously you've never seen Manos the Hands of Fate.

  • @JawsJaws Haha, I could give you a bunch of movies that are beyond bad. This movie is very special I give U that and U don't have to like it, it may even bug some people with it's kinda pretengious approach, though I loved the movie! Never to that day saw a movie directed in that style, and it blew me away totally! But one can't diz a movie cuz it's a bit odd..that would make me say that person prolly prefer Van Damme movies and maybe a bit stupid:)

  • @kokohero I dont care for Van Damme movies. He's a bad actor.

  • the horse scene is brilliant... and the whole movie is really good too

  • OMG Those Bodybuilder Chick Is So Hot

  • I've always liked the scene with his victims, like those doll things. I'm not sure why, but there's something about it that's so creepily awesome.

My mind isn't that interesting, if you could call it that. I should get out more.

  • This movie is surreal and beautiful. I loved it. Vincent really stole the show.

  • I thought the imagery was brilliant.

Some of the concepts even make me feel reminded of Francis Bacon (especially the King's image).

The rest is not very far from any generic serial murderer police man psychoanalysis woman film, and I almost made the mistake to not watch it because I tend to stay away from Jennifer Lopez and her not existend acting skills...

But this film is definitely worth being seen, nay: experienced! Spectacular visions!

  • Oh I love this film!

    It have amazing pictures! =)

Does anybody know a film like this? or a film in the surreal/psyhotriller genre?

  • ok at 2:21 i know that that scene is inspired by a real painting...can anybody tell me the artist or name?

  • also saw this in a missy elliott video cant think of it either

  • I remeembered this movie when I watched it a long time ago, then I watched it again this video, still good movie. Halloween is coming soon!!! next month, hehehehehe! (evil laughing)

  • man this is what you would find if you looked in my world :/

  • lol i dont think thats good! maybe you should make a movie out of it :p

  • weird i always wanted to be a director

  • it seems interesting...in a weird and creepy way! but i didn't like the scene with the horsey:(

  • This movie is awesome!!! I wish Jennifer Lopez would star in another film like this. It's like being in a Salvador Dali painting!

  • that's a pretty good way to describe it!

  • A visually fascinating film. It draws a lot of inspiration from painting and other kinds of art. The sliced horse seems to be inspired by Damien Hirst, which I also believe was involved in the film (correct me if I´m wrong...)

  • this scene reminds me of like a mixture between thirteen ghosts and silent hill

  • anyone plz help.. im trying to figure out who is the artist and the name of the photo piece at the end of the movie where vince vaughns character is being torture by the demon and takes his intestines out and is being turned. im trying to find out who is the artist of the picture at the end in the killers room.

  • when they are in dream sequence it is sooo scary the music they use, the suspense of something crazy about to happen next, and the visuals.

watch this alone at 3 in the morning, withthe front door wide open and a candle burning in another room, where you can see the glow of it just barely creeping its way out.

you'll turn the lights on so fast and lock the door before the first sequence is even over!!

  • I'd rather not leave my front door open, someone may want to walk in :-P

  • I will admit there are moments in this film that frighten me like no other. Sometimes surrealism is more terrifying than horror because it messes with your subconscious!

  • sometimes... surrealism CAN be horror... that's why The Ring is such a scary movie to me sometimes... its a surreal/horror movie.

  • tottaly agree...

  • I hate J. Lo as a singer, but boy, does she looks stunning in this movie! (and i am not into women at all...). And anyone who says, that she is a bad actrice, well this does not match with her brilliant emotional performance in this highly unterrated masterpiece! The also brilliant artwork of the unconsciousness scenes exactly display the unreal, or better surrealistic athmosphere of mankinds dreams and nightmares like it has never been done before in any form of art yet.

  • couldn;t have said it better :) totally agree with u

  • Its one of my favorite films...I can't for the life of me understand why so many people don't like it. I will admit that its more style than substance...but the style alone makes up for it. Plus its mostly told through symbolism, so it actually has a lot more meaning than can be perceived on one viewing alone. I've watched hundreds of times, and find something new to love about it every time. Tarsem FTW!

  • this is what i said to my girlfriend but she still wont watch it :(

  • Omg tie her to a chair and make her watch it! Seriously everyone should see it atleast once. Its so dark, and beautiful.

  • or chain her to a chair by her back

  • o_0

  • One of the freakiest and most gorgeous films I've seen.

  • disturbia

  • Such a great and gorgeous film

Some of the scenes freaked me out when I first saw them though... like the intestine one.

  • J. Lo is so hot. It's a shame she's such a retard.

  • can someone tell me please what the Director's Cut has that the regular movie doesn't? Like what scenes?

  • I honestly didn't know there was a Director's Cut o.O

  • full frontal nudity,lol

Man what is this world coming too, Film gets cut for a bit of nudity, big deal, sigh

  • LMAO I loved the horse part, although when I saw it I was scared stiff.

  • very freaky movie,a good movie!i was hopiing that it would last 2 hrs,but it doesnt, sad

  • i was 13 when I first saw it and I totally understood it

it's such an amazing movie and JLo was very amazing too

  • the dreamscapes were ridiculously good. it was kind of like what i have to deal with every night, but the symbolism was scripted much better :)

  • I find it creepy. When I watched it I NEVER knew what was going to happen.. felt bad

  • I quite liked this movie. It had a lot to say.

  • Alcuni scene sono ispirate al video di Madonna , Bedtime Story

  • 6:13 = pwned lolol

  • Just watched this on encore in HD with surround HOLY CRAP! Anybody know the name of the song playing during the three "rooms?" I know it is composed by Howard Shore, but whats the name of the song?

  • crap i wouldn't watch it alone !

  • I luv this movie so much!!!! the artistic view of it and everything was great..

  • no matter how you slice it, this film should have won an oscar for best art direction at the least..would love to date that honey at 5:39..seems like fun. good post,thanks..

  • a highly underrated and overlooked horror movie. I hope they make a sequel.

  • The only thing this film captivates me is the surreal/stunning/disturbing/eerie... (on and on...) imagery in addition with some awesome sound effects! It kinda sucks that i didn't see this in the theater... i can only imagine wut this part would be like when jlo enters carl's world the first time with the surround sound and all... GOSH i wanna see this is the theater!

  • this was the first horror type movie I ever saw, adn I saw it in the theater.... totally AMAZING my dinky tv doesnt do it justice now!! :(

  • i loved this movie, very freaky and physcological, ki thought jlo acted very well in this, id like to watch the whole of the directors cut

  • take a look at this from 5:00 until 6:00

the entire visual world of 4 full fking films of the Saw series was, ahem, "based" on one single minute of this film

the way The Cell "flopped" is just outrageous, especially in the light of Saw's success

  • I think it flopped because Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn were in it..lol

But this was a cool film. The first time i saw this movie was at a Night Club in NYC called Exit. The music was pounding and they threw the part on the big screens when that bodybuilder chick is after her. It was great.

  • those victims of his kinda give me a hard on looks like they are in a snuff

  • Oh man I remember watching this movie one night. Excellent freakin movie, very different. Incredibly surreal, in a nightmarish sort of way. I had some freak ass dreams after seeing this movie, lemmy tell you. Lol

  • same here xD~ I was fuckin´ scared and nobody was @ home the whole weekend xD

  • Mais faut etre fou pour faire un film pareil,c'est trop flippant,c'est du délire à l'état pur!!!!Comment dormir après la nuit!!!!

  • I love this vid, and movie, I think 'the fall' from this director is a disgrace compared to the cell...Disapointed, this shows the mind at work, lucky ass, how did he get this budget!!!

  • visually interesting

    saw it twice...

    Kubrick fan myself

  • honestly, i think if halle barry replace lopez, the movie would've been better, but nonthless stil great and a lot of imagery involved

  • and i can see angelina jolie doing a better job.

  • i wish david lynch directed this.

  • hehe, perhaps, though I think it's an excellent movie anyway. It is very much like a Lynch film in its themes though, yeah.

  • What a disturbing an creepy film, yet one of the best.

  • Sorry, that "an" stands for "and".

  • awesome

  • That was a good, yet crazy movie.

  • This is one of the most disturbing films ever made, but also one of the most visually entrancing.
