Going on any performers website for the obvious purpose of criticizing and ridiculing them, demonstrates meanness and pettiness in the extreme. It also exposes those who do it, as truly uncaring and cruel...despite what they may say to the contrary. It's true that we're all entitled to our opinion, but degrading the performances of an obviously gifted 11 year old child, reveals an underlying character of an evil nature. Littlesmew...it's time for you to move on.
This is beautiful but I enjoy even more her youtube version of this song that was recorded at a younger age with just her and a camcorder. She has the same magic voice but sang it with her own interpretation as a child. It's honest, precious and moving and as pure as only a child can be. I understand that she and her coaches are shooting for the big time but for me Jackie doesn't need to sound like an adult to provide chills. There will be a time for that. Whatever, she's amazing.
Puccini wrote this ARIA for a SOPRANO in A b Major.... WHY she is singing this soooo low??? this is NOT right. Sorry, Jackie, go find something for your range of voice
I suppose it's just a matter of personal preference. I happen to prefer the sweet clarity of young voices and this little girl's voice just doesn't appeal to me.
Calm down and enjoy the music you enjoy and try not to get so uppity about someone not agreeing with you- you'll only raise your blood pressure. . .
I'm sure there's room in the world for lots of different singers and thankfully we have a choice about what we listen to.
For any doubters of Jackie's abilities and uniqueness, go to "Jackie Evancho npr youtube" and listen to her sing Ombra Mai Fu with only piano accompaniment...no echo, no auto tuning, just her and a piano in a little studio with ordinary acoutics.
Kiddo, get yourself a better voice teacher....and quit that head shaking. It doesn't help your vocal production. Lastly--someone should advise you to sing age appropriate songs. Yikes!
On the contrary, I do believe she has some natural talent. To my ears her voice in this recording is forced and has a nasal quality which might easily be remedied with expert guidance.
It is perhaps more a question of individual taste than moral weakness to prefer other's voices to this little girl's.
If having an opinion contrary to yours makes me arrogant then so be it. . .LOL.
The important thing is she has some natural talent and with proper training she'll excel. Without guidance her voice will suffer and that would be music's loss.
Poor little thing, she hasn't been taught about controlling her breathing and not only that it sounds as though she is forcing her voice. She has some natural talent but her voice lacks the purity of the young Church or Westernra.
@littlesmew You are missing the whole point. She lacks technique because she is so young but what is so amazing abouit her is the purity of her voice, the beauty of the tone she produces. Better than Westerna's and a whole lot better than Churche's. You reveal your chatacter flaws when you refer to her as " Poor little thing". Instead of the normal reaction of admiration and wonder for the amazing gift of a 10 y/old child you are filled with jealosy and arrogance.
@littlesmew That's probably why 16 time Grammy winning producer David Foster said: in all his "45 years" in music, he's never seen anything like her. And he's seen, and heard them all. And because she doesn't know how to control her breathing, and has "some natural talent", she had a top selling debut album and was named debut artist of the year. But her voice lacks the purity of a young Church or Westenra. Hummm...You either don't know shit about music, or, you're deaf. Pick one.
@littlesmew Poor little thing. She's getting to do more fun stuff, going to more fun places and making more money than you'll ever see in your lifetime. And she's doing it while doing something she loves, without controlling her breathing or a voice as pure as Church or Westenra. WOW! Poor little thing.

It's funny, I was singing this with my singing teacher, then a few weeks later, I watch America's got talent, and she's singing that song. 0_o Kind of ironic I guess...
For those who choose to critique this little girl. While she may seem like shes over doing her voice some, she has shared with the world on interviews how she keeps her voice strong and takes care of it. I believe this angel, her family and her voice coach KNOW what they are doing. Stop assuming things and being rude and acting as though some of you could out sing her. If you could then you would not be sitting on here watching her videos acting jealous. KEEP SINGING JACKIE!!
@singsongsoprano: quit being so critical. The kid is 10 singing with the voice maturity of a 20+ yr old. Who cares what the song is about. As for her voice manipulated have you watched opera singers? SHE IS A CHILD with a GIFT. LET IT GO YOU JEALOUS FREAK
@gygetto "Babbino" means papa or daddy in Italian, and is in fact the word used by the librettist Giovacchino Forzano for this aria, in which Lauretta pleads with her father to mend fraught relations with her prospective in-laws.
pretty voice... she should not be doing this piece at her age... her jaw is so tight!!! it kinda makes me angry, after all there are unspoken but well-known rules about thesse things...
@ntrxdiver-she does have a lovely instrument with great potential. This does not mean that her voice teacher(s) has/have the right to manipulate it, causing unwanted tension, just to make her sound older. I fear for her vocal health as she grows older. I'd love to see her blossom into a healthy singer in 20 more years.
@heartlandcutie13 and @ntrxdiver- glad someone understands that we as voice teachers need to look out for our young students and not imply on them unwanted tensions just to make them sound "mature" or "more robust". It is a wonderful voice with great potential. She just needs to be put in the right hands! And if not wanting singers to sing with unwanted tension, at any age, just to sound "cultured" makes me a "sore looser" (still trying to figure out what a looser is ntxdiver), then so be it.
heartlandcutie13- glad someone understands that we as voice teachers need to look out for our young students and not imply on them unwanted tensions just to make them sound "mature" or "more robust". I my eyes you are just a sore looser trying to explain it from a ignorant uncultured little mind;grow up and look at her,you might learn something.
@ntrxdiver Noo... singsongsoprano is right. 10 year olds shouldn't sing Puccini or arias for that matter... And she is manipulating her voice to make it sound more grown up. She's going to wind up hurting her voice before she actually has a chance to fully develop her vocal chords. I'm not denying she is a good singer. But give it a few years before you go and sing arias written for 30 year olds...
@Beskidekk First of all, I am a choral student, and was selected for auditions at the Juilliard School. WHile mouth movements might be essential, the movements you see by this ten year-old are "over the top." She is manipulating the tone and so I have to agree with heartlandcutie that while she may be a good singer, this type of manipulation strains the vocal chords and can damage them. I would say that she might want to hold off on Puccini for about 6 years or so, and let her voice grow.
@saduncan2010 Excuse me, it's not so much the mouth that shouldn't be moving, it's her head. She has to move the head to move the vocal chords, which both a) distracts from the performance and b) places undue strain on the neck/vocal chords. She has a beautiful voice, but if she keeps trying to modulate her tone like this while she's young, then no amount of vocal training can undo that, and her voice will always sound modulated, not to mention strained.
SHE WILL BE GREAT, BECAUSE SHE FEELS WHAT SHE SING...OK?THIS IS THEMOST IMPORTANT IN THE MUSIK----THE FEELING....SHE IS GENIOUS...AND IF SHE DONT LISTEN THE PEOPEL LIKE YOU,,SHE WILL BE THE NEXT MARIA KALAS.....LISTEN ONLY YOUR HEART ,LITTEL GIRL AND YOU WILL BE GREAT.....I PROMISE YOU...I;M PIANIST AND SING ALSO AND I TELL YOU ONLY YOUR HEART CAN TELL YOU THE TRUGHT...BELIAVE ME....GOD BLESS YOU
@leblon2 Yeah.. I'm sure her TWO vocal coaches never told her what the words meant. And when she sings at Carnegie Hall in December she's just going to 'wing' it...////s
well if you think it is appropriate for a child to sing "daddy let me have my boy friend or I will jump off a bridge and kill myself" may be you should suggest to her 2 coaches to let her sing "In quelle trine morbide" another Puccini's aria where the soprano recalls the steamy encounters with the boy friend in a large bed!!!!
I hate to be an old poop, but she is singing it down a whole step, in G flat. The original is A flat. Takes nothing away from her gorgeous voice, but why not do it in the right key? She is certainly capable of it.
@hardybar1 becuase 90% of america's population doesn't give a crap if it's on G flat or A flat; they just care about if it sounds nice or no; and america's got tolent i guess jst cares about making money ;D

Secondly I hope this little girl is less shallow than you and doesn't judge success solely by monetary gain.
Thirdly- I know someone as arrogant and judgmental as you finds it hard to believe but- we're all entitled to our opinions.
Fourthly- I don't begrudge this little girl success. There's an audience for this type of thing as you yourself prove.
Now calm down and don't bother with a 'comeback' as you're not gonna convert me.

You hit the nail on the head with your comment.
This little girl is trying to imitate adult singers and her voice sounds forced.
She may strain her vocal chords and end up with no voice.
Someone should take her to one side and tell her this.
