  • This song sounds a lot like a change is gonna come. R.I.P. Sam. you no longer have to worry about someone easing your troubled mind. God eased it for you.Tradgedy is your were so young. Gone too soon Sam but, The Lord heard your cry.

  • J ADORE CETTE CHANSON !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've heard a song or two by Sam that I didn't particularly like- but this is not one of them. I feel this inside of my heart. And, I promise you, I'm a great Sam Cooke fan. Hell, I would tell my wife if she had a wart on her face.. and I still would love her.

  • Sam Cooke was a troubled man. He had to overcome alot of adversity in professional life and home life...

  • @catwoman19628 So many songs done in so little time. 33. Singers today who have a 50 years career will never record half the songs he did.

  • @MrCoco158 And even if they did, none of them could sound half as splendid doing it!!

  • You feel this to the bone!!!!

  • WHY DID THAT LOWLIFED HEAFER KILL THIS DIETY!

  • @keltonkng Study the case history carefully. It was a few men. Trust me. Search .. search and you will find out the truth. That's why no movie about him still cannot be made to this day...People in power continue to stop it.

  • How can you ever dislike anything by Sam Cooke?

  • 2 people need there troubled mind eased

  • Greatest of all time!!!....my favorite singer hands down!!!!...R.I.P. SAM COOKE

  • a very soulful song i can feel it

  • Soul singers are a gift to this troubled world from the Most High.

Thank you, YAH for Sam Cooke

  • i always play this song when im stressed out and i swear to god it works and after the song i feel like sam made me feel better. it really relieves one from stress this man is too great for words .rip sam cooke.

  • Thank yaaa!!! Yeah!! Yeah!!! Thank yaaaa!!

  • thank you Sam REST IN PEACE

  • Give a Thumbs up if you dont like those who gave a Thumbs Down!

  • put this on repeat... it actually will ease your mind... damn, Sam. gone too soon (teardrop)

  • Such a good tune. More kids need to listen to this type of music beside Lil Wayne for example. The world would be a better place. s/n im 14 so dont come at me with some crazy stuff.

  • Grown man shit. Timeless.

  • @yashaweh Word Is Bond! This is that deep gut bucket ish right here. This is from a time when black folks sang with soul. Nowadays they all wanna sell out and sing that electronic ish lol. Much Respect!!!!

  • who are the 2 jerks that do NOT love this song? they are very stupid indeeed. very smooth and beautiful song for all ages.

  • so smooth

  • yes sam, ease my troubling mind...thank you.

  • they can't you are right be cause we are still asking the same ?

  • good single i like him

  • the gresteste..... muhammad

  • ...was going to break into the elite echelons of entertainment, while staying BLACK allthewhile. He wasn't racist or a bigot, but he insisted on standing tall and proud at a time when just about every Black entertainer was bent over. These types of Black men have ALWAYS been made an example of...throughout history. Sam read history profusely. He knew the ramifications. I think he misjudged a bit...thought he was above some things, but he obviously wasn't. A damn shame.

  • If Sam were a white man he'd have been hailed as even greater than Elvis, still to this very day. Sam knew this and it troubled him to no end. If he were white, he'd have been a cover magazine artist from jump street. He'd have had world tours from jump street instead of second-rate chitlin' circuit stuff. But he was Black. I love that he loved being Black, and demanded respect as an artist and businessman, while insisting on staying Black. But Sam was killed, how conveniently, right when he...

  • every time i hear this song it touches my soul cuz i wish someone would ease my troublin mind

  • i lovvveee this song. Its relaxing and soothing, and the words are so clear and true. R.i.p. Mr. Cooke

  • could, some one put on this lost song by sam cooke name,never/ come running back to you.song wrote for johnny morrisett, but sam did a version him self, to answer, to bill cook song i'll come running back to you.

  • I hear ya Sam...nothing says it like the blues...it isn't about getting paper and women, fancy cars and designer clothes, there are no foul words or sexual innuendos...This is from the heart and what music is all about.

  • Although I worship Sam Cooke in all my existence, I do have to say that this song sounds rather like "A Change Is Gonna Come", which is not a bad thin, au contraire. Thank you very much for posting this song; yet another by probably the best singer there has ever been...

  • @DeepSoul1960s Well a few of Sam's songs had a similar sound to one another. For example, his song "Lovable" is the secular ver to his song "Wonderful". Same song, yet different titles that target different genre of listeners.....both good in their own way! I mean c'mon...it's Sam Cooke!!! One of my favorites of all time, btw!!!

  • @DeepSoul1960s They do sound the same, if not for the melody and phrasing, then the feeling and mood. He wrote these songs during the same time period. Sam smiled alot, but was deeply troubled by personal demons and the demands he faced as a Black man in a highly racialized America. Sam wrote and produced most of his own hits but couldn't get a fair contract and movie deal prior to mid-1963...when Elvis was already starring in 12 films., yet both were RCA artists...just a lot of unfair s.h.i.t.

  • The Perfect person to play Sam Cooke in the movie is Denzel Washington, he kinda favor him alot.

  • @jambro50 you hit it right on the head; i was just thinking the same thing yesterday(9/2/11). can he sing as well or at all ? if not, then he can get some vocal training and start filming a movie about sam's life and career. it would be interesting to see.

  • love this song and the video, too.

  • One of the most Beautiful songs ever made by this genius of soul. I heard the story behind this song. His infant son drowned in their home pool.

  • I like this quality is good

  • Who would dislike this?

  • @SackGargler exactly!! who who!?!

  • If I want a REAL REAL GOOD CRY, i can either play this or Sad Mood...both remind me of my mother who departed this world Oct 23, 2008. Even before she passed this song makes my eyes well with tears..but if I am Depressed I would not put this on because my heart would be torn to threads and then I would be crying unconsolably..and thats not good. Miss you Sam and Mom. I know you Both are looking down smiling because all your troubles are over.

  • they just dont sing like this anymore!

  • One person must be deaf or retarded! Anyone from 4-104 years old can relate to this master peice!!!!!!!!!

  • This song eases my mind where all my bad thoughts just disappear.... but once the music stops I'm fucked.... bad thoughts start to come back.. fast. I play this song over and over just to help me for those minutes that I need. I wish I had an iPod or MP3 player. I really need songs like this on repeat for wherever I go. I'm nothing without music. My mind goes crazy. I wish somebody would come ease my troublin' mind. Peace..

  • @Outlawz404 i feel for you, i know exactly how that feels but believe me take action or it will consume u, two books helped me incredibly, "how to stop worrying and start living" and striking thoughts by bruce lee

  • @Outlawz404 Sam Cooke had a beautiful personality that filtered into his music. What's not to like about this guy? Handsome, smart, clean, and possessed with a voice that overflows with pathos. He reminds us that we are not alone in our human sufferings. He was a pantheon figure in modern music who still sounds contemporary in this piece. He was the benchmark against which the other vocalists were measured. Sometimes I have to listen alone so others don't see me welling up with eye water.

  • You know that Sam is singing in Heavens Choir right at this very moment!

  • The closest artist in today's industry that comes close to the soulfulness of the past greats is Anthony Hamilton. But he isn't on top because they don't love soul singers like they use to.

  • Betcha Pink could do a cover

  • really, really feeling this. Love you Sam!! Never forgotten.

  • This song was written and song at a time when you could really turn to somebody. It is so easy when we can listen to and help each other doing times of trouble. Sure, there are some good people still around, but--for the most part--we are now so divided and so narcissistic, self-centered to the core. This song is for the ones who truly listen to and care for the needs of others.

  • @llakewms17 You are so right. I honestly believe that we are all here to help eachother out from time time. That's what makes us human. That's what put's the beat in our hearts.

  • Sam was moving back to gospel music at the time of his death. Sort of a gospel/pop fusion. Listen to his last recorded songs. It's just such a shame because I always wondered what his next LP would've sounded like. Songs like this one, 'A Change...', 'Keep Movin On', 'Shake', 'Whole World...'...I bet the next album from Sam would've sounded too fresh...ahead of it's time perhaps...musically and lyrically challenging. But he was killed before it was to be. God knows best.

  • Damn...those lyrics and that voice....goes straight through to the bone.

  • That's my favorite singer of all time hands down

  • Favorite song ever, almost moves me to tears. God I love this bloke.

  • Gottt damn!

  • CLSosa, i can understand when you really love an artist, it's all or nothing, but Why would you need to hate on one singer over another, can't you love them both for what each brings to our souls. They each speak the sadness and lonliness that most of us aren't willing to speak out loud when we feel that way. It's amazing how they open us up to our true feelings.

  • For so long I hated on Sam because I was a devoted otis fan, but after hearing this I can no longer deny this man is as good if not better than OR.

  • @CLSosa Glad you got over it. But why hate?!?! Otis said many times he was inspired 100% by Sam...why love the student without honoring his teacher, whom he himself honored?

  • feeling this...

  • @Syur2000 Me to.

  • Was this awesome song in the movie soundtrack of The Departed?

  • @Ms41855 no

  • @Ms41855 This was in The Departed?!?

  • My heart aches for beauty such as Sam's unique, soulful, beautiful voice. Sublime!

  • @ZZZLover You got that right!

  • i love this song

  • jesus can easy your troubled mind sam.

  • Wish I could sing like this.

  • I love this song

  • Man..this is my song..Sam Cooke is the TRUTH

  • sam made another version of this song (les paul and friends with eric clapton playing lead guitar) on it...it's gutwrenching!!! has anyone else heard it!!! OMG!!!

  • This is how I been feeling for long time

  • I LOVE YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!! THX FOR POSTING!!

  • @krelbar You don't mess with perfection...I will flag them lol

  • @krelbar So so true..No carbon copies.

  • I watched the new orleans floods unfold on the rolling news here in the Uk and thought then, I bet they won't get as much help as if it were another country. We are the same here, we like to help less fortunate countries but often forget the victims of our own disasters. We've been having floods in the uk too and people are still unable to get in to their houses. Hope it's getting better over there. I've been stuck in cos of the snow listening to Cooke, Redding and Co.

  • old school music

  • i'm really going thru right now, and his songs are really soothing and real.

  • *****

  • Sam Cooke ahead of his time...an Angel...only an Angel can sing this way...I am from Jamaica...my family, mainly my uncle collected Blues and R&B vinyl records and played all the evergreens for us. I know almost all of Sam Cooke's songs...I am a true fan. Sam Cooke's music helped shape me while struggling with my indentity as a black youth in Jamaica, his songs were theraputic and soothing...most of all rewarding

  • my first time hearing this song.this song reminds me of otis redding.

  • @VOISMAGRSD That's understandable. Sam was one of the artists who influenced Otis. :)

  • sam cook the great sing of all time

  • I LOVE! this song Man...

  • Comment removed

  • @djstevechitown GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME......SON MAMA RUSH36

  • He is my greatest inspiration in music, period! But not only did he sang like none other, he took care of business; embraced his culture, (wore his natural hair, compiled a large Black History library in his home) fought against racism in the music industry, started his own record label and publishing company, and mentored to many other artists like Bobby Womack, Johnny Taylor, Lou Rawls, and Aretha Franklin to name a few. There is simply no one else like Sam Cooke, he lives on, forever..

  • @torrencebrannon VERY well said...

  • S-O-U-L music. Period. Sam Cooke. Genius. 'Nuff said.

  • Sam Cooke was a musical genius WAY before his time, and was taken away WAY too soon.

I grew up listening to my father's collection of these oldies but goodies..... and I can truly say that we have no artists like this today.

RIP Sam Cooke... One of my favorites from his collection - "Somebody to ease my troublin' mind'

  • can u hear me now........

  • Sam was an artist. An artist that could sing the words and with the orchestra paint a picture of thoughts. Sam had better tools than most in the world. His emotion was the ability to understand every letter of each word with the uncanny ability to repeat a word or sound with a smooth stroke of his voice. It was his style. To hear him is to ease my Troublin' mind

  • He is the best ever

  • i can hear where he influenced Otis Redding... Otis sound very close to those "body's" and "baby's"

  • Go Sam Cooke!

  • Every song that he made, I can relate too. He's a legend. It's too bad that he passed away at an early age. He was basically only in the music business for only 6 or 7 years but he put out so many excellent songs!

  • @TechDeck723 He was in the POP music business e for 7 years before he passed...before he was in pop he was the lead singer of the most popular Gospel group in the nation, the Soul Stirrers. He was in that group for 5 or 6 years...

  • If You Miss Music...

  • Just when I thought words couldnt describe the way I'm feeling...

  • One of the best songs ever!

  • (crying) i love this song.... omg

  • Great song!!

  • My Idol!

After working 18 hour days 7 days a week for months at a time in the Bering sea, I could always count on Sam Cooke to ease my mind. THE TRUE MEANING OF SOUL IS SAM COOKE. ONE OF A KIND!

  • First time hearing this song, I love it!

  • HELP

  • almost droped a tear damn! had to gather my thought's lol

  • now this is music

  • The best Male singer period there was no genre that he couldn't do

  • Gospel, soul, the man was talented at both.

  • witch song of his was made because his son had died ?

  • @EmoneyAkaSupa

"The Riddle Song" from the "Ain't That Good News" album.

  • @EmoneyAkaSupa A Change Gonna Come

  • No matter the darkness in this world, there is light as well. Thanks greatly.

  • One of the greatest voices of all time...<3

  • I love this song; Sam Cooke was always played in my house. He has a very powerful voice; good music.

  • YEAH!

  • SOMEBODY'S got to right the Sam Cooke Story for film. If nobody has already, I'm gunna!

  • @141Jessy- Surely there are influential individuals of Hollywood or the Newyork film industry or elsewhere, that review Youtube's various forums. If so, and by happenstance you should find yourself reading this post, briefly contemplate the possibilities of such an endeavor. I think you will come to see the necessity and the obligation, to facilitate the introduction of Sam Cooke and his music to a whole new generation, yet to even know who he was.

  • @141Jessy good Idea Jessy, I would be first in line for a ticket

  • sam was/is the MAN!! What a beautiful, powerful song - love it very much!!!!!!!!!

  • oh my goodness, sam;s music inspire's me so much, rip sam, you still have fans out here who still love and miss youre music.

  • @berlynn2 i'm one of those fans !

I've only the Portrait of a Legend and would like to grab this album too.

    Thanks!

  • Wow. His music does really do...something...

  • Holy crap, I've been listening to Sam for months. How did I not come across this till now?

  • I didn't know this song existed. I need it.

  • @141Jessy - me too Jessy - my life's kind of a mess right now, and when I listen to this song, it makes me cry 'cause I'm having all kinds of problems right now. Sometimes I think the only one who truly cares is God. Sorry, y'all, didn't mean to be such a bummer. I'll be better again soon, God willing....

  • Pure Soul!

  • soooooo nice! listening to it over and over again

  • I think thisis his best work

  • I was just freakin' out about how someone can influence your life without you even knowing it. Realized recently that Mr. Cooke was a huge influence on me and I wasn't even aware of it. Now I'm on a Sam Cooke Tear. So, obviously, I'm goin' through all of your stuff...So Thanks For Posting All Of These Sam Cooke Songs. I REALLY Like this one. :)

  • @Rlzee We are "soul music" freaks. I am not ashamed because everybody has (a) "soul".

  • Beautiful.

  • It's from the albumn "keep movin' on"

  • Does anyone know from what album this is from?

  • Baaad Tune! Sam 'THE MAN' Cooke by far one of the greatest Rhythm n Blues & Gospel singers of all time!

  • I was in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. I was so fortunate to have this cd. With no power for days, I played this cd for my neighbors every morning.

When a young neighbor heard this song, she broke down and cried. She told me that the cd eased her mind and she never knew Sam Cooke songs other than his popular ones and didnt realize what a powerful soul singer he was. She is now a big fan. She even bought his biographies. She said she plays the cd as a memorial every anniversary year.

  • I am so glad you are here to give us this account.

  • @coolsmoothla3 Hey uncle! Well I'm not surprised to see your comment under a Sam Cooke Vid. You already know that I grew up hearing these amazing and unplifting songs by the late, great Sam Cooke. I was just telling someone that there's no artist today that demands my attention like this man. When Sam Sings you listen and never want to stop. Great story by the way and hey...

I didn't know you were stuck here during Katrina. You gotta tell me about your experience someday.

  • Well, if it isn't my former favorite niece...lol... That is what happens when you migrate for two and a half years to Texas. Your dad and siblings know the story well. Goes to show you how far apart we are. And don't try to blame it on Katrina...lol...p.s. you are still my favorite niece ( wink )

  • @aprildh504 wow your so fucking gay it's not like he served in WW2 you dumb ignorant fucktard. katrina is a oke the so called wealthiest nation cant even fucking repair a measly grungy city.

you act like this man i god go jerk your shrimp dick off to him you pussy. grow some balls and get a fucking job instead of bitching about a fucking strom years ago.

  • @PlayBeyondNews

Wow, you need to relax. No one was complaining about anything. You really need to pray, I can tell you're miserable in life.

  • @aprildh504 exactly what i was thinking, ignore the fool =)
