I watched the new orleans floods unfold on the rolling news here in the Uk and thought then, I bet they won't get as much help as if it were another country. I was in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. I was so fortunate to have this cd. With no power for days, I played this cd for my neighbors every morning.
When a young neighbor heard this song, she broke down and cried. She told me that the cd eased her mind and she never knew Sam Cooke songs other than his popular ones and didnt realize what a powerful soul singer he was. She is now a big fan. She even bought his biographies. She said she plays the cd as a memorial every anniversary year.

I watched the new orleans floods unfold on the rolling news here in the Uk and thought then, I bet they won't get as much help as if it were another country. We are the same here, we like to help less fortunate countries but often forget the victims of our own disasters. We've been having floods in the uk too and people are still unable to get in to their houses. Hope it's getting better over there. I've been stuck in cos of the snow listening to Cooke, Redding and Co.

Sam Cooke ahead of his time...an Angel...only an Angel can sing this way...I am from Jamaica...my family, mainly my uncle collected Blues and R&B vinyl records and played all the evergreens for us. I know almost all of Sam Cooke's songs...I am a true fan. Sam Cooke's music helped shape me while struggling with my indentity as a black youth in Jamaica, his songs were theraputic and soothing...most of all rewarding

He is my greatest inspiration in music, period! But not only did he sang like none other, he took care of business; embraced his culture, (wore his natural hair, compiled a large Black History library in his home) fought against racism in the music industry, started his own record label and publishing company, and mentored to many other artists like Bobby Womack, Johnny Taylor, Lou Rawls, and Aretha Franklin to name a few. There is simply no one else like Sam Cooke, he lives on, forever..

Sam Cooke was a musical genius WAY before his time, and was taken away WAY too soon.
I grew up listening to my father's collection of these oldies but goodies..... and I can truly say that we have no artists like this today.

Sam was an artist. An artist that could sing the words and with the orchestra paint a picture of thoughts. Sam had better tools than most in the world. His emotion was the ability to understand every letter of each word with the uncanny ability to repeat a word or sound with a smooth stroke of his voice. It was his style. To hear him is to ease my Troublin' mind

I was in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. I was so fortunate to have this cd. With no power for days, I played this cd for my neighbors every morning.
When a young neighbor heard this song, she broke down and cried. She told me that the cd eased her mind and she never knew Sam Cooke songs other than his popular ones and didnt realize what a powerful soul singer he was. She is now a big fan. She even bought his biographies. She said she plays the cd as a memorial every anniversary year.
