  • I have the original dvd version which is excellent and I've definitely got my money's worth out of it over the years. I will definitely pick up the bluray version. I looked at redbox and they (believe it or not) have the bluray you can rent in my town so I'm gonna go pick that up soon! Cool review!

  • i can see where walter hill is coming from the warriors definately would be a sick comic book. but on paper not in a movie. the originalshows that its old dirty didnt have alot of production money and still came out good. just my input. thanks for the review

  • The directors cut is AWFUL. The cartoons are complete crap and he ruined the ending! Part of the greatness of the original was them walking down the beach as IN THE CITY is playing and the credits are rolling. Also, the opening narration was idiotic. Hill reminds me of a jr. George Lucas, almost sabotaging their own work ruining it in the name of "their original vision".

  • i like the orginal better

  • Hey buddy! I haven't ever seen The Warriors before. I'm definitely going to look into it! thanks for the awesome review! 5 stars!

  • I grew up on this movie and recently watched it with my 11 yearold son.He really dug it,he was all about the baseball furies

  • The "New" comic-book stuff wasn't as overused as I expected. And there was two occasions where I actually liked it.

    1) When Luther confronts the candy-bar girl (The new version seems to give the impression that he WASN'T finished with her yet!)

    2) When that last subway pulls up at Coney. I loved the animation there.

  • The "New" comic book stuff wasn't as distracting as I was led to believe (I thought it would happen about every 10 minutes)

But there was two occasions where I perferred the comic-stuff over the original film:

When Luther throws a fit with the candy-bar girl (The new edit seems to give the impression that he WASN'T finished with her yet!) & when the last subway arrives at Coney. Great animation there.

  • Honestly I think all of the animation stuff is cool, I just don't care for how it was added into the movie. I've always thought of The Warriors as a gritty NY gang movie. It just takes some of that away with all of the comic panels.

  • Cannnn Youuuu Diggg Ittttttt!!!???

  • I was just thinking about this movie after watching Deadbeat At Dawn this week. I'm with you, Ed. I didn't care for the new comic panel transition sequences. I know Walter Hill said he thought of the Warriors as a comic book movie - but I always thought of it as the ultimate bad ass gang movie - and the comic sequences seem really out of place. Still a favorite of mine. The DVD was pretty bare - might snag the blu ray for the extras. Good vid.

  • I love Deadbeat at Dawn by the way. Yeah, the comic stuff did seem really out of place. I mean, maybe it's because I've seen the movie a million times without it. Regardless it's going to take me a long time to get used to that stuff in the movie.

  • One dvd and blu-ray I could recommend to you is Beetlejuice, on both formats the newer edition looks amazing!
