I purchased the FT-450 with the built in Auto tuner and like it a lot. I added an excellent external speaker and it sounds great. I had trouble getting the Automatic tuner to tune the 20 meter vertical that I put up 28 feet above the ground, but after moving it 50 feet away from my 80 and 40 meter antenna's it began tuning it just fine. The tuner will only tune a mismatch of 3:1 or less but that's minor in my book. For the money it seems to be a very well built transceiver.
Hi Kees ,! bedankt voor die video , ik heb helaas nog geen Radio maar ik zit te azen op de FT 450 , maar wat ik je wilde vragen is ; heb je al digitale modes mee gedaan ? en wat zijn je bevindingen ??? ik denk dat deze radio veel beter zal presteren met een quad antenne ..

I am actually considering the same two radios. I am leaning more towards the 450 because it comes wit filters and an antenna tuner, if you get the one with that package. So for like an extra $200 United States dollars anyway you get some filters and an antenna tuner.

Look's nice, like to get one.. I think the 897D is the best radio for the price , it is jsut great.

i dont have had a 718 in my shack so i cant recommend anything.
i heard its also a good radio so it will be a difficult choice for you.

hi
i like the radio a lot
it has plenty of options inside
i dislike the internal speaker
i dislike the inside tuner (i didnt bought it)
the performance is almost the same as my ft-897 only more gadgets inside
its not a super radio on a scale off 10 i give it a 6
but its a nice starter radio for a nice price
