  • The ventures are AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • Can't.. stop... repeating...

  • Ah, the Ventures. Coolest band that never had a singer.

  • thank god the long side burns were just a fad! brutal!

  • Very best theme song for any TV show.....ever.

  • great song and one of the first real music videos. But here is my question(s); where is the brass section, and where do they plug in the amps and keyboards? LOL

  • I like the original Hawaii Five Theme Song- not the latest one- too short

  • my God! i think this is the original "desert rock". XD

  • modified version.

    : pAQL-NprGdg

  • ทะเลกรุงเทพ

  • 22 dopes still have 10 ft curly patch cords from the sixties in their closet too...

  • The Ventures Are Great.. And they are the BEST Instrumental Group in the World. I have been listening to them since I was 12 years old, it's interesting because the first song I've ever heard from the Ventures was Sleigh Ride From their Christmas Album.. Best Wishes to All from Guatemala...

  • Best music video ever?

  • Clean sound...nothing beats the original.

  • Even my friend who was a technical death metal player loved the technical aspect of their style.

I'm only 22 and I'm not ashamed to say this is one of my favorite bands of all time.

  • This is wonderful music, amazing even today after so many years, Hats off !! Lets ignore the dislike guys, always for every video there are some who dislike, just ignore. it sounds wonder like " Walk Don't Run "

  • สวนสยาม!!!

  • one of the best bands ever!!!. Hands down and thumbs up !! I play some guitar, and I really like the way the play without so many effects like in these days. But the drummer takes the prize, impresive!!.

  • Awesome.

Also see: [standard video url, then 'watch,' question mark, 'v,' and equals sign, and then the following 11-digit identifier:] pWR5n-ZT4xI

  • and hes doing some serious double bass on the drums!

  • From the 2-CD compilation album "Instrumental Magic"

  • this makes taking shits WAY more interesting..

  • This video was filmed in the desert near Groom Lake Nevada.

    Also known as Area 51.

In rare outakes of the fiming of this performance on the desert,, SR -71 Black birds can be seen flying over and landing directly in Area 51.

    Pretty spectacular to see!

  • Classic, fantastic and surf bombastic. It's greatness! JGerard

  • I can tell you one thing: this song sold one heck of a lot of drum kits in its day! Probably the only musical instrument comparison is how many Stratocasters Hendrix helped Fender sell.

  • There are 19 dopes now. Heavy sigh.

  • Love this sound!!!!

  • why would they shoot a video here? it looks terrible. all that light

  • McCartney on bass.

  • Love those Sunn Model T amps....

  • The Ventures are very unigue. They are the kings of instrumentals.

  • THIS is the best! Wish we had music like this now days.

  • superb

  • 1:35 Paul Mccartney

    1:37 Ringo Starr

  • 1:36 paul mccartney

  • This IS the best tv theme song---EVER!

  • Whats up withe the scarfs..

  • Who would win in a fight? Jack Lord of Alex O'Laughin?

    Thumbs up for Jack!

  • actually the shots made on the latter of the video are pretty amazing even by today's standards

  • terrible !!!

  • Ventures all the way!

  • ronaldo

  • This is the SHIT

  • AMAZING!!! XD

  • Now I got it in my head the rest of the day. I always crank the volume during the intro of the new Hawaii 5-0. That show is great in high-def and 5.1 sound!

  • BADASS!!

  • Greatest theme music for a TV show in history.

  • Solid Brudda

  • What a great clip, it really takes me back to the days of trading video tapes at record fairs.

  • This is really damn good, thanks for finding this gem.

  • The Keyboard player looks like a very young Erik Estrada

  • still from the caralho

  • it just goes with bong hits, somehow

  • Oinky Says "They must have had one hell of a long extension cord !!! ... Oink" ;0)

  • Hawaii 5-0 is Da Bomb! Got to wear Jack Lord's suit coat when I was in Hawaii. Miss Jack Lord. Not a fan of the new Hawaii 5 -0..

  • the first its always be better than the `duplicaded`..

  • Best Ever !!!!

  • Great Video / film - Raw it may be, but rarely can you beat an Original : )

  • This is goooooooooood!!!!

  • Classic !

  • so this is how tarantino´s mind sounds like

  • @kudillo This is how My mind sounds like.

  • One of the top three theme songs of a tv series of all time. Plus, you just have to love the lambchop sideburns!

  • Book 'em, Danno!

  • i love this version of the song

  • 16 dopes did not like this

  • @andwen66 17 now

  • @andwen66 I agree with you, only MORONs wouldn't like this song.

BTW - here's trivia that a lot of people don't know. Hawaii 5-0hhh (50th State), I heard this clown call the Virginia cops 50, what an idiot that's Virginia ten-oh.

  • @andwen66 *19 now*

  • @andwen66

excatly, 20 now, ABSOLUTE MORONS, these guys were ahead of time.

HMMMM: 2011 TODAY and they did this in the 1960's???? genius.

Yes, today we still have MORONS, 20, the last count

  • I remember watching this on TV when it first came out. Yes, I'm that old. And no, it wasn't MTV.

  • @B17Boy me too and still great to hear and see it again!

  • @azsrel - As I've said on other threads with this song -- after 40 years, it's still the best theme on TV.

  • @B17Boy Yes, but not nearly as good as the full length song version : )

  • Epic!

  • CLASSIC**********

  • Freakin' YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is rare! Thanks for posting this gem!

  • This was THE song to listen to back in the early 70"s!

  • @strangersound Fc-7FXzbeA0

  • @strangersound Nice comparison

  • is this a cover?

  • @chambmat -.-

  • @Karlketola I dunno, The Addams Family, The Munsters, Bonanza, Magnum P.I, Miami Vice,

  • can anyone think of any other TV Show terminology which has become so ingrained in the English lexicon as "Five-0" and "book 'em, Danno"?. i.e. as in "watch out, five-0 is coming". Even young punks today, know what you mean when you say "five-0". Maybe, perhaps, "Ben and the Boys".

  • book 'em, Danno!!!

  • Morton Stevens wrote the tune :)

  • torn between this and the doctor who theme.. each unique and legendary in its own way....

  • RIP Dano...

  • Some lo-fi indie band needs to utilize this visual effect.

And everybody needs to utilize that SG player's look.

On an unrelated note, I love how completely incongruous this sounds right after the serious cold opens where the dead body is revealed on the new Hawaii Five-0.

  • I don't think a day has gone by in the last 42 years that that theme wasn't heard somewhere in the world. Awesome!

  • What was the commercial that used this theme- showed the asphalt streets curling into surf waves? It was freaking awesome CGI.

  • Was this one of those old Scopitone films from the 1960s?

  • This video was pretty well done, considering the time and the song kicks ass!

  • Cool video mun!!!!!

  • Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono

  • J´ADORE!!!!!!! Merci mon Canadien*****

  • This original version is much better than the studio version used for 5-0. They jazzed it up way to much, smoothed the notes out, made it sound more hollywood. This is much more raw, and better for it.

  • @matt00000000000001 raw is always better ;)

  • @matt00000000000001 Ummm, the version used on the TV show IS the original version. It was composed by Morton Stevens and performed by the CBS orchestra. The Ventures covered it later. It's a common misconception that the Ventures recorded it for the show, not helped by the fact that wikipedia has it wrong.

  • Go baby go!

  • too dooooooooooope! :D

  • I defy anyone to name a better theme song for any TV show - now, or yesterday. Most TV shows today don't have theme songs. Yet with the new Hawaii Five-0, they do play the theme song -- for obvious reasons. Book 'em Dano!

  • @Karlketola The theme to Barney Miller came close.

  • If you read The Ventures biography, Josie Wilson was present, and recalls Tommy goofing around with his guitar behind his head to show Nokie how to play the second part, and then sitting down with her and some coffee while The Ventures proceeded to make the actual recording. Later, according to the studio log, on August 22 when The Ventures were in Japan, Tommy was called in to "sweeten" the recording,.

  • Love this tune and Hawai'i Five-0

  • This is funny where are the horns....the theme song is mostly horns?

  • Most interesting because this soundtrack was recorded with Nokie in the studio for their no. 4 hit, but he had been fired and replaced by Gerry McGee by the time this video overdub was filmed out on the desert near Palmdale, CA.

  • @remled09 It was actually Tommy Tedesco who played on this song. He was a studio guitar player who played in the Wrecking Crew. This was mentioned in his book Tommy Tedesco: Confessions of a Guitar Player.

  • Yours is the only video in YouTube that keeps music in sync with the image, although the pitch is distorted and goes quite upbeat. I have restored it to the best master I could find with the audio in sync.

  • Thank you lucyhuto and bedazzeledtv MTV was around in 1960's. see nothing new under the sun. To hear and see the Ventures all fancy at their best and play Hawaii Five-O song with special effects wow made me glad. Loved the wind blowing in their hair. Reminds me of trade winds such a delight mahalo kauaicr07.

  • super cool to actually SEE The Ventures playing the Hawaii Five-0 theme!

  • by the late 60's the Ventures appearence changed---no more Mosrite guitars, it's all Fender and Gibson. They grew their hair longer too.

  • If you had the 45 record of this song, "Soul Breeze" was on the B side.

  • bad color, great sound!

  • This has to be the best best TV show Theme song ever made. Period.----

  • yahoo! the big 5 0 !!

  • BOOKUM DANNO

  • How in gods name could you dislike this song?

  • A new 5-O is coming back to TV I hear

  • @tvrpaul71 Yea I heard that too. Its probably gonna be bad because nothing can't beat the original.

  • No words... :D (8) ña ra la la la-la (8)

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Does anyone know where this footage is from, if i can get my hands on it, i can get the color back into it and clean it up

  • song is great for surfing. catch sum waves dudes

  • graet surfing song

  • Who was the bass player for The Ventures?

  • @CassetteRookie It started out as Nokie Edwards on bass. Due to Nokie being a great guitar player, he switched with Bob Bogle. Then Bob took over on bass.

  • Book'em Dano !!!

  • Epiphone Viola Bass???

  • @elMakiMISFITS Back then it was still made by Hofner.

  • Dude, the drummer trips me out... he's always in the groove doing his thing with the right rolls at the right time.

  • shrek 2! xD

  • o man. fucking CLASSIC right here.

  • No better place to play a song about Hawaii than a dry lake bed. I see the directors of videos has an early start on finding senseless places to shoot these. I wonder where the plugged in their amps? Any gig I ever did in goofy places like this required hauling in a generator, and fuel. YUCK! Usually the jerry cans always leaked all over. If only one leaked it had to be the one the stuck in my vehicle. The SG and a Hofner with a Tele. Where was Mosrite? I like Moserite OK, but not exclusively.

  • WOW! Such a rare video!!

    Awesome!!

    THUMB'S UP!!

  • Seriously? He's playing surf with an SG?

  • Most Epic video I've seen in a while.

  • first single i ever bought what a brilliant video thanks for posting

  • My uncle had The Ventures Album with this song, I would listen to it over and over again, brought back a lot of good memories!

  • that always bring hawaii in my mind, like a unofficial state song

  • Rad video. But they're in the desert, and not at the beach?

  • One of the greatest groups of all time.

  • Seal this rock off!

  • Kick ass music!

  • book him danno...

  • @fireblade95 ~~ Who's Danno?

  • Wow!!! Tooooooo Unbelievably Greattttt!!!!!

  • Book 'em Danno!!!!!

  • wayne mardle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP Bob Bogle and Mel Taylor!!!

  • how about that?

  • Man!, I sure dig them sideburns on that drummer, don't you?

  • this video is sickk

  • I don't know how true this is but I heard that the late great Tommy Tedesco did the lead guitar during the recording session of this song.

  • @nic0le47

Its true, the great Tommy Tedesco played the lead guitar on this song. He is one of my favorite guitar players and I've been studying his work for along time.

  • Remember hearing this great song when it first came out and the tv show with the opening shots of Hawaii, especially the hip shakin' hula girl ! Wooof !! Book 'em DanO !

  • Mazinger Z???¿¿ x

  • It was the 1960 kids.

Long before computers, HD, or any special effects. Your old man was rocking....

  • @jabnola yeah...he still is, too

  • This was filmed out at Burning Man last year.

  • How could this be filmed last year Mel Tyler has been dead since 1996 abd that is Mel on the drums.

  • The reference was to the location(BM fest is in the Black Rock Desert, likely this location for the film). From the fashion styles it's clear that this was not recently filmed. It sure is strange to have to explain a joke ...

  • @HunterMann Sometimes you have to explain dumb jokes.
