They also used different intro to the Beverly Hillbillies on my Season One DVD set which i got real cheap. But the quality is good for what I paid and the laughs are there. I think this is the same music they used for the Bev Hillbillies.
I'm just really angry with the VHS release, and still think it was a feeble choice for a substitute. I know country music well, and would have had many better options for substitutes.
Thanks for posting on a great show.
but would ANYBODY want to but this VHS set from me, P-L-E-A-S-E???
I dearly LOVE this show. And the music was a crucial part. I ended up with a VHS set with this bullshit generic sorry-ass crap tacked on.
Would anyone out there please buy these from me???
They serve no purpose at all, since I now have terrific DVD sets of season 1 and 2. Although I know I cant GIVE THEM AWAY, might as well throw them in the garbage!!!
AND FYI to whatever clown chose this sorry, sad "musical" score:
IT DOES NOT FIT THE SHOW, AND YOU DON'T KNOW COUNTRY MUSIC!!!
I think these shows were run on independent stations and the fees were hire if you wanted the original score. I've seen several show's done this way on local stations. I've heard this exact same music for episodes of andy griffith. I've also seen episodes of bewitched that did not have the original theme music. I'm pretty sure it was a licensing issue. If anyone has any information about this let me know.
This was a feeble attempt to cover up the song, the manufacturer of the video recording thought the song has a copyright that the rest of the show doesn't have. The company did the same thing with Dragnet.
i think that user dirwuf has the right idea. cheap public domain with no rights to the theme song. it's the most plausible reason i heard why no song.

It was the least corrupted version off of the VHS tape I bought at the flea market. The others were barely visible due to issues with tracking.

Howard Stern said he used to beat off to this show... the part with the naked girls in the water tank.

From one of those cheap public domain home videos...they didn't have the rights to the real theme. This never aired.
