@ 1:20 the prick Cavuto makes a shrimk, when Jack says he doesn't want to go to jail again. He's trying to put down and judge Jack instead of just interviewing him.
Dude, I love how Kevorkian just completely destroys these interviewers single handedly. He answers their smartass questions extremely wittingly and they instantly go quiet for a few. He's probably one of the few intelligent people left on this earth.
Cavuto trying to paint Dr K as a depressive merely b/c his conclusions about life/death sound "sad"? Many of the greatest thinkers in history have been prone to existential depression and anxiety, which is the type that Kevorkian is referring. It affects those with high IQ's and is a byproduct of abstract thought. Most slow witted folks don't struggle w/existential type depression b/c they're not capable of entertaining the thoughts/ideas that produce it.
people can take their own lives right now... for whatever reason...
Kevorkain offers painless passage.
Don't play some Extremist card. Right now if someone would like to be on of off something which may be good or bad for them, doctors have a waiting time before they act, like 3 weeks. This allows temporary states of mind to pass, such as being angry at a friend or something, and a more informed decision to be made. done
@MaBuSt What do you mean "Done"?!!! Done with what? You can't attempt suicide at this juncture without the government hauling you off to an institution against your will. Almost everyone posting here says the government should NOT be involved in this CHOICE, but when I throw y'all a neglected SHADE O' GRAY "curve-ball" (that MUST be dealt with sooner or later), you ENLIGHTENED ONES are all caught flat-footed & flustered (and irritated at me)...
@ObamAtheist While I get your point of view, for a lot of people it's about full body autonomy. Once spirituality is taken out of the equation (the preciousness of life, etc), you are left with you and your situation and your body. Shouldn't you be able to choose whether or not you want to let it live? I agree that systems (such as the panel) can and should be put in place to prevent any on-a-whim abuse (temporary sadness), but if someone really and truly wants to die, why not let them?
Kevorkian is pure genius..unfortunatly bone heads like Kavuto need to insult him with stupid elementary questions, asking him why does he hate this life? The man just spent 8 years in prision for no reason becuase this world is to stupid to realize how much good he was actually doing.
@OHARPOharpy - you dumb idiot. Did I say "I hate america"?
You must be one of the sheep that think that america "is fine" and things are going to workout. Well it's not. America is broke and some major systems are going to fail. Better wakeup now before it's too late.
I agree with MaBuSt, Fox news is stupid. They're just trying to make him look bad. Dr. Kevorkian is a brilliant man who is just misunderstood. Neil Cavuto looks and sounds dumb.
@jessicastich I find the interview to be very fair & polite. You have so much liberal intolerance inside you that you actually see this mild mannered interviewer ,in your own mind, as a frothing beast. Your emotions are causing you to see things that aren't there.
I agree with Dr. Kevorkian death is an inevitable part of life it is not evil, suffering is bad death is not, if I was terminally ill I would want it for my self.
I agree with Jack Kevorkian 100%. He is wise and has lived many lives before this one! When my husband was dieing of cancer he wanted me to over dose him. I wouldn't as I didn't want to spend the rest of my life in jail.
its not about giving him 30 minutes, that doesnt mean anything. If you can ask him the meaningful questions in 5, then do that and move on to news. Key questions are if he believes what he did was right, if the thinks legislation should be changed and through what channels he thinks this could be responsibly done. A lot of the time was taken up by questions that were trying to imply he was some kind of anti-life person instead of an anti-agony person.
@MaBuSt You want to know thru what channels Kevorkian thinks this should be done?
Good question. There are two choices:
Allow ANYONE over the age of either 18 (or possibly 21) the "Right to Die" whenever & for whatever reason he or she DECIDES is right for him or her. That can be anything from the sadness caused by being dumped by a boyfriend or girlfriend all the way up to terminal illness.
OR: Set up a government run SUICIDE/DEATH PANEL that could include a physician to make the CHOICE.
@ObamAtheist A physician can make a personal choice whether to help the patient or not. I doubt many doctors would help an 18 year old commit suicide over being dumped. They would probably recommend psychiatric help. There might be a doctor who disregards common sense, but their license would soon be revoked for unethical acts.
@ObamAtheist You try hard to sound like a credible "thinker" , unfortunate you are none of the above. Dr. Kevorkian helped patients who were suffering and for who each day was another day of suffering. They had the right to end the suffering, YOU and your kind have no right to DICTATE who continues suffering and who does not.
You are a very simple little person who tries to DISGUISE dictatorship as a just cause. What patient X decides is none of your F business.
@ObamAtheist Stop with the "government run" line, it's old, tired and is beyond disproven. Physicians ALREADY make that choice. By your standards, they to, are their own "death panel". What he is saying is that the patient has a right to choose whatever the fuck it is they want to. And that anyone limiting that, is WRONG. The concept is simple, straight to the point, and completely follows the so-called Conservative mantra of the Government staying out of your private life.
I agree, why are we soooooooooooo afraid to die. It is selfish ( i think) to think that when we die , our spirit or soul or whatever lives on. Why must we want to keep on living? when we die, we die...........period! If , there is something else out there then so be it, but let's not be selfish by wanting to be immortal
life does suck because we've got it all wrong and religion has been the major contributor to that fact. We are eternal consciousness, there is no death, the body is not who we are, we are the awareness that thought and the body and separation occurs in and we suffer because we have identified with what we are NOT. I love this guy, he's a hero for humanity.
This interviewer is the BIGGEST idiot i've ever heard. Wow.... no matter how profound the Dr might answer he just pops out the next retartedly phrased question. Man he makes my blood boil. Dr Kevorkian is very engaging to listen to.
Wow, Fox news sucks so hard - they asked NO questions that mattered at all. Every freekin question was just trying to turn him into a depressed, godless, evil person. Thumbs up if fox news sucks!
@MaBuSt What would you ask Kevorkian that Cavuto didn't. Fox News gave Kevorkian an entire 30 minutes without commercial interruptions. What's the problem?
@LeeRyan2930 - I understand. My favorite person in the world is (was) George Carlin and he always said that sports and music are just mediums for distraction from how badly we're getting fucked by the upper 1% on a daily basis. Or something like that. But there's a lot of truth to it, as much as I love sports and music. So I can understand. What can you do though?
@LeeRyan2930 - You got the wrong impression. I couldn't care less what you do, or what makes you happy, or what you view as successful -- my point was that everything's relative. That's all, end of story.
@LeeRyan2930 - You're 27? 6-figure income? I'm not impressed, but good for you. Personally it doesn't do anything for me and I fail to see why you would feel the need to justify your 'good life' to someone on YouTube. Kinda weird honestly.
The Dr is way smarter than any of you douche bags, we should have a choice in everything, what are you all so afriad of? Dont be scared its just death! :P
There is much more to life than a "good job" , but unfortunately society has brainwashed us and forced us into the idea that , Success is the jeweled achievement ...we've been led to believe that work equals profit and Profit is the ultimate desire. There was a time when you could opt out of this arrangement , but it grows more difficult every year to choose other options....It takes a lot of money to live without any....Now they have termed it,"living off the grid"
@willyD200@willyD200 This was very well put and sums up a great many peoples lives right now. I hate money...but i'm forced to desire it if I want to be able to live in even the simplest of fashions. I despise it for what it keeps me from and the burdens it brings with both it's absence and presence.
@LeeRyan2930 - A 'good job' and a 'good life' are completely relative terms. What you consider 'good' might be a complete hell to someone else. And yes, in the grand scheme of things. it is quite meaningless.
@ObamAtheist - He's saying that for many people life does indeed suck. But his main point was that life has its ups and downs (and more downs than ups.) He also says that human beings are programmed to fear death (which stems from religion.) I can't see how a rational or intelligent person could dispute any of these claims.
some of the u.s. laws are really dumb im sorry... if u r suffering from lou gherigs disease or in the last stages of cancer and in tons of pain. u should have the right to have a lethal injection. What this doctor was doing was the right thing to do.
Interviewer: If someone were to come back to you and say they needed your help, they're terminally ill and they need your help to die. would you help them?
I can't believe the headline they put on the screen after he said that. "I would not help another assisted suicide". Talk about propoganda or trying to put a spin on one statement. News is so misleading
He said the truth, the only reason fear is ever used is for control and religion has played on the natural human instinct of fear of the unknown, and top that off with the claim that when a person does dies they will go to a terrible place and so they need faith to dedicate their lives so they can avoid going to that place. Religion brings no one closer to God, because God is not fear or separation and all religions preach that, in essence.
The only person who has the right to take there life is the person who wants to die. If persons said can't kill there self. They shouldn't be able to go see Dr Death. Law is there for a reason. Health Care is a ridiculous idea.
@ObamAtheist last time I checked serial killers didn't relieve suffering nor do they have compassion . You're statement is ignorance personified. And you seem like a person who is deeply entrenched in fear.
@xfloweroflifex life does suck because we've got it all wrong and religion has been the major contributor to that fact. We are eternal consciousness, there is no birth or death, the body is not who we are, we are the awareness, the observer, consciousness. When this is seen through then all supposed suffering ends for eternity.
@xfloweroflifex What about those serial killing "Angel O' Mercy" nurses that fatally inject the elderly in hospitals when no one is looking. They usually claim they are ending their victims' misery. A "good motive" was their excuse to kill somebody. You stand corrected, xfloweroflifex.
xfloweroflifex: "We are eternal consciousness, there is no birth or death, the body is not who we are, we are the awareness..."
Is that a religious view, xfloweroflifex? It doesn't sound like a scientific view.
@ObamAtheist Did those you speak of have multiple interviews with the "Angels of Mercy" stating there intense desire to end their suffering? You are comparing apples to oranges Watch someone die a slow agonizing painful death where doctors pump the patient full of narcotics to ease not erase the pain and watch that person suffer and their family suffer and watch that person have no quality of life for 10 years and then die a violent convulsive death in the arms of your father.
@ObamAtheist My brother died an undignified violent death with tears, fear and pain in his eyes begging to just let go. Had he been granted the opportunity to make his own choice, after all God gave us free will right, he would have been able to have all of his loving family around him and would have been able to say goodbye. So don't spout off your ego centered limited mind crap until you have walked in the shoes of others with true compassion.
@ObamAtheist eternal consciousness is not a "religion" it is a direct experience of what God is. Religion is for people who have never had a spiritual or God connected experience. Religion is for the mind, God is not in the mind, God is what you are, pure awareness. Everything else is just conditioned thoughts, stop your thoughts for just a moment, if you can, what is there when thoughts cease? Awareness, peace, bliss, that is what you are, your thoughts are just that, thoughts.
@ObamAtheist Did those you speak of have multiple interviews with the "Angels of Mercy" stating there intense desire to end their suffering? You are comparing apples to oranges Watch someone die a slow agonizing painful death where doctors pump the patient full of narcotics to ease not erase the pain and watch that person suffer and their family suffer and watch that person have no quality of life for 10 years and then die a violent convulsive death in the arms of your father
@jnsduke1414 - Law is there for a reason? Really? So when the law said that black people aren't equal to whites, what was the reason there? How about when it said that women don't have the right to vote? Or witches should be burnt at the stake? Point being, the law is not always synonymous with the truth.
@jnsduke1414 - Your logic confuses me. You believe that if a person wants to die they should have that right. Yet if they're *physically* unable to kill themselves, they don't have the right? So in other words, if you want to die and are able to do it, that's fine. But if you want to die and aren't able to do it, you're shit out of luck.
If that the case and the is person unable to kill him or her self. Then listen to this shouldn't the court step in and rule on behalf of that indivialual to have someone else to ended it for them? Isn't that better then just saying to the person that you are "SHIT OUT OF LUCK" ?
@Stereophonics81 Hay I was just giving my opinion on the matter, more like a question, there was no reason for you to be an ass about it. If don't like what I have to say then forget the question. It as simple as that.
@Stereophonics81 Really is that your come back insulting my grammer. I was asking a question but it seem that you would be more interested in making insults then talk about the matter. So I am not going to waste any more of my time with this matter and more to the point wasting my time with taking to you and please do your self the favor don't reply to this.
On March 4, 2010, a US congressional panel narrowly voted that the incident was indeed genocide; within minutes the Turkish government issued a statement critical of "this resolution which accuses the Turkish nation of a crime it has not committed THE TURKS ARE COWARDS LOW LIFES AND THE BIGGEST SCUM ON EARTH!!!!!!!! 1915 ALL ARMENIANS THAT PASSED REST IN POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fortunately and unfortunately, Kevorkian accepts Schopenhauer's sophisticated perspective on life and death.
Fortunately this view seems to be truth bearing and brutally honest.
Unfortunately the masses, the more simple people, will write him off as crazy for this.
Christians, why not take the approach Jesus might have taken, and make this world a desirable place to be?
You create "heaven on Earth" and maybe, just maybe, suicide will become a non-sequitur.
As always, I talk to the wind. . .

I'm doing your back-peddling CHOICE gang a favor.

@ObamAtheist People who truely want to die don't attempt suicide, they kill themselves.
TBarrasso35 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist While I get your point of view, for a lot of people it's about full body autonomy. Once spirituality is taken out of the equation (the preciousness of life, etc), you are left with you and your situation and your body. Shouldn't you be able to choose whether or not you want to let it live? I agree that systems (such as the panel) can and should be put in place to prevent any on-a-whim abuse (temporary sadness), but if someone really and truly wants to die, why not let them?

military911search 1 year ago
its not about giving him 30 minutes, that doesnt mean anything.
MaBuSt 1 year ago
@MaBuSt You want to know thru what channels Kevorkian thinks this should be done?
Good question. There are two choices:
Allow ANYONE over the age of either 18 (or possibly 21) the "Right to Die" whenever & for whatever reason he or she DECIDES is right for him or her. That can be anything from the sadness caused by being dumped by a boyfriend or girlfriend all the way up to terminal illness.
OR: Set up a government run SUICIDE/DEATH PANEL that could include a physician to make the CHOICE.
ObamAtheist 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist A physician can make a personal choice whether to help the patient or not. I doubt many doctors would help an 18 year old commit suicide over being dumped. They would probably recommend psychiatric help. There might be a doctor who disregards common sense, but their license would soon be revoked for unethical acts.
EternallyRecurring 1 year ago

Why must we want to keep on living? when we die, we die...........period! If , there is something else out there then so be it, but let's not be selfish by wanting to be immortal

life does suck because we've got it all wrong and religion has been the major contributor to that fact. I love this guy, he's a hero for humanity.

ObamAtheist 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist - He's saying that for many people life does indeed suck. But his main point was that life has its ups and downs (and more downs than ups.) He also says that human beings are programmed to fear death (which stems from religion.) I can't see how a rational or intelligent person could dispute any of these claims.

He said the truth, the only reason fear is ever used is for control and religion has played on the natural human instinct of fear of the unknown, and top that off with the claim that when a person does dies they will go to a terrible place and so they need faith to dedicate their lives so they can avoid going to that place. Religion brings no one closer to God, because God is not fear or separation and all religions preach that, in essence.
firestrings272 1 year ago
The only person who has the right to take there life is the person who wants to die. If persons said can't kill there self. They shouldn't be able to go see Dr Death. Law is there for a reason. Health Care is a ridiculous idea.

ObamAtheist 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist last time I checked serial killers didn't relieve suffering nor do they have compassion . You're statement is ignorance personified. And you seem like a person who is deeply entrenched in fear.
xfloweroflifex 1 year ago
@xfloweroflifex life does suck because we've got it all wrong and religion has been the major contributor to that fact. We are eternal consciousness, there is no birth or death, the body is not who we are, we are the awareness, the observer, consciousness. When this is seen through then all supposed suffering ends for eternity.
xfloweroflifex 1 year ago
@xfloweroflifex What about those serial killing "Angel O' Mercy" nurses that fatally inject the elderly in hospitals when no one is looking. They usually claim they are ending their victims' misery. A "good motive" was their excuse to kill somebody. You stand corrected, xfloweroflifex.
xfloweroflifex: "We are eternal consciousness, there is no birth or death, the body is not who we are, we are the awareness..."
Is that a religious view, xfloweroflifex? It doesn't sound like a scientific view.
ObamAtheist 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist Did those you speak of have multiple interviews with the "Angels of Mercy" stating there intense desire to end their suffering? You are comparing apples to oranges Watch someone die a slow agonizing painful death where doctors pump the patient full of narcotics to ease not erase the pain and watch that person suffer and their family suffer and watch that person have no quality of life for 10 years and then die a violent convulsive death in the arms of your father.
xfloweroflifex 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist My brother died an undignified violent death with tears, fear and pain in his eyes begging to just let go. Had he been granted the opportunity to make his own choice, after all God gave us free will right, he would have been able to have all of his loving family around him and would have been able to say goodbye. So don't spout off your ego centered limited mind crap until you have walked in the shoes of others with true compassion.
xfloweroflifex 1 year ago
@ObamAtheist eternal consciousness is not a "religion" it is a direct experience of what God is. Religion is for people who have never had a spiritual or God connected experience. Religion is for the mind, God is not in the mind, God is what you are, pure awareness. Everything else is just conditioned thoughts, stop your thoughts for just a moment, if you can, what is there when thoughts cease? Awareness, peace, bliss, that is what you are, your thoughts are just that, thoughts.

@jnsduke1414 - Law is there for a reason? Really? So when the law said that black people aren't equal to whites, what was the reason there? How about when it said that women don't have the right to vote? Or witches should be burnt at the stake? Point being, the law is not always synonymous with the truth.
Stereophonics81 1 year ago
@jnsduke1414 - Your logic confuses me. You believe that if a person wants to die they should have that right. Yet if they're *physically* unable to kill themselves, they don't have the right? So in other words, if you want to die and are able to do it, that's fine. But if you want to die and aren't able to do it, you're shit out of luck.
Nice thinking.
Stereophonics81 1 year ago
@Stereophonics81
If that the case and the is person unable to kill him or her self. Then listen to this shouldn't the court step in and rule on behalf of that indivialual to have someone else to ended it for them? Isn't that better then just saying to the person that you are "SHIT OUT OF LUCK" ?
