For a start, stop killing Cold Fusion people (nuclear reaction at room temperature - no radiation or any harmful effects), Let Teslas discoveries go mainstream (invented HAARP basically in the 1890s, all classified). I mean the list goes on, so Government, who is "owned" by these corporations is the last place I'd go to get things done. Leveeing a Carbon Tax worldwide is a joke, it achieves nothing, except more economic woes, they'll still use it, in fact more, cause we pay.
Ok,..heres my take on the "Steak" bit.I dont believe for one moment that if anyone eats one less steak that it will effect Climate change,Smoking, and cars, and planes,yes,..but NOT stopping eating any kind of food.

In the end telling Humanity to stop climate change is a losing goal, we will never stop even though we are bringing ourselves to the brink of extinction. Our legacy will be neverending stupidity, because that is what Humanity does best.
The variables that determine any degree of 'climate change' cannot be quantified -- certainly not to the point at which you can claim it to be promulgated by mankind. I am in charge of the recycling program at the Museum/Nature Center where I work, I can tell you that I am doing my best. I think any complaints should be forwarded to....China, to India and to Brazil (rainforests). I think I will find many of you less vociferous in that regard..eh?
i really appreciate it, when famous people raise their voice to fight against climate change, yet there is something hypocritcal about it - i mean the global footprint of an actor, who travels around the world filming movies, etc is by no doubt way higher the an average one.
its about time someone spoke out against climate change. lets make a difference. support mads mikkelsen, and help him fight to save the world we live in.
I liked Mads Mikkelsen a lot before this. Now I like him more. He's right, and it's nice to hear someone say it. Yes yes, it's time for individuals to act, reduce your carbon footprint, fly less, recycle more e.t.c.. But the fact remains, a large amount of people don't. Two fundamental facts: in terms of lifestyle choices most people in the west are weak and lazy - myself included. A lot of people won't act until the Govermnent forces them to by law. This is what we need...and now.
Love this guy's acting as One Eye in Valhalla Rising. That being said -- does anyone else think it sounds like total crazy shit to say "Let's fight climate change!" As though government knows what climate is best for us. We can't control the SUN and the earths rotation and cycles. That's reserved for higher powers than us mortals. This climate change shit is really starting to sound like madness.
That right there is the exact problem with religion. You can just say it's up to god, and then not do anything. That's fucking madness. You really am a typical white guy...
Wrong. Here's a novel idea--let's spend all the wealth of industrialized nations and destroy the capabilities of the third world to improve their condition. All to enrich the lives of a small group of corporate dickheads who have taken over your "climate change" idea to make a profit. By the way--who's monitoring the rate of anthropogenic CO2 emmisions?
Oh and by the way, if you decide to check out info on anthropogenic CO2 you might also want to find out what accounts for the largest amount of greenhouse gas in the environment. Here's a hint, its not CO2--but WATER VAPOR. My apologies if my comments brought to question YOUR RELIGION of Global Warming/Climate Change.
I don't know where you get your information, but it worries me that you know only half the truth, like someone took certain things out of context. You are right about water vapor, but human behavior doesn't influence its amount significantly whereas it undoubtly does so with CO2. In fact, its presence as clouds actually keeps the atmosphere cooler than it would be without it as a side effect. Because we can't do anyting about water vapor should mean we don't need to try to reduce CO2 emission?
That sounds like an excuse someone made up who would lose money if people become more careful about emmisions. There are people only interested in profit on both sides, that's why it's a good idea to double check facts coming from both sides. And if it's just about making money, why have scientists said the exact same things decades before there was a market for the hype? And why do these out of context counter arguements come up only now, when people start to care?
Darth-Scientist say all Greenhouse gases effectively warm the planet by trapping heat. However, Global warming scientist rarely show water vapor in their charts. When you don't include water vapor- natural and man made CO2 makes up approx. 73% of greenhouse gas. But when water vapor is included --CO2 is only 3.6%. When water vapor is included total human greenhouse gas contributions add up to about 0.28% of the greenhouse effect.
And that brings me back to my original post, which basically was--Causes of global climate change, like cyclical eccentricities in Earth's rotation and orbit, as well as variations in the sun's energy output, are the primary causes of climate cycles. If the greehouse effect is so significant then why is Water Vapor left out? Obviously despite it's major impact compared with other greenhouse gases we can't do anything about it. Hence, you can't push an idea or force an agenda.
Please get your figures right, CO2 is 0.0385% not 3.6% as you say. As a fraction CO2 is ONE part in 2624 of air, that is so insignificant to have as good as no effect on temperature at all, anyone with a brain can see that.
The figures I presented were based on the role of Atmospheric Greenhouse Gases (man-made and natural) as a % of Relative Contribution to the so called "Greenhouse Effect." In this study the US DOE put out a report, which is still cited as proof of CO2's overwhelming impact on GW/CC. The DOE failed to include Water Vapor in their study because it would negate the actual role CO2 plays in their junk science theory.
But of course Americans have another approach to "wasting" fuel than we Europeans - it's cheaper and they therefore have a long tradition of going shopping or washing their cars etc. with the motor running. :-S Still another point where the "small man from the street" can contribute - the government won't help here. It's everybody's turn and ~300 million people can save A LOT of fuel and , doing so, work against the climate change.
love his accent and his scary face. He is absolutely right. Governments need to act and have to stop the oil and car industry to carry on with their irresponsible business.

Oh man! How easy is it to absolve a movie star from guilt and pass all the responsibility to the governments. This is not the right way. By waiting for governments to act you already wait. You cannot force them to act because - remember? - you voted for them. So why did you vote for the wrong guys? It's time for EVERYBODY to act, always! Smoking and eating meat and flying have a HUGE impact on the planet - because we are 6 billions! So one cigarette/steak/car ride less - that would be an impact!
Of course he is flying around the planet but this is not the point. The question is what the government should do to fight climate change!!! That is what he wants to raise awareness for. It's completely of no importance if he smokes cigarettes or eats meat. How is this related to climate change???
Give him his scar from CASINO ROYALE and then maybe people will start listening to this green mumbo jumbo.

Wow, so much for predictability ... Wouldn't even know where to start.
- I don't smoke
- I don't drink
- I only buy organic food
- I only buy food from my area (no long transport)
- I'm vegetarian
- I work from home so I don't stand with a running engine in a traffic jam in rush hours each day for hours
crypteria 2 years ago
- I have a car that is small and ugly but it doesn't use much fuel
- I don't have a pet
- I placed nesting boxes in my garden and I feed the birds year-round
- I foster wild bird chicks and hurt birds
- I always break for animals
- I stop and carry toads and frogs and hedgehogs in danger across the road
- I use water and heating economically
- I only buy recycled toilet paper
crypteria 2 years ago
- I voted for the Green Party (the majority didn't and now they are nothing but ... hmmm ... complaining??)
- I'm member of the Humans-Environment-Animal Welfare Party
- etc.
- etc.
- etc.
