  • Hi, nice rig. I have the same boat, 2012 modal I bought a month ago from Dana Point Jet Ski. I love it. One question. On you sonar, did you mount it up though the sail mast? I have heard of doing this but never seen it. Seems like it would be too far away to see. Also, did you mount the transducer in goop or some other way? I am trying to decide on mine. Thanks for any reply.

  • hpw do you steer this boat ?! ^^

  • lucky

  • can you advise how this boat is affected by adverse winds when on the open sea please?

  • @lincolngray1951 It handles open ocean conditions well. When the wind comes up it is a drier ride than most kayaks. Its width and high gunnels make it slightly more succeptable to catching wind and faster drifting, but I'd feel comfortable in the Pro Angler in any conditions that I'd feel comfortable using a different kayak in. In fact, the Pro Angler would be among my top choices for choppy conditions on the ocean.

  • Ummm yup...Nobody can keep up with my Pro Angler. Except maybe a long sleek ocean kayak. And I do have another hobie that I rigged a 50lb trolling motor up to, complete with pdeal steering and a lift system to get it out of the water when I'm about to scrape bottoem....and my pro angler kicks it's butt!!! I can go farther, faster all while carrying twice the gear without even noticing it in my Pro Angler.

  • how much is the hobie marage pro angler ? please relply

  • @freshwaterfishing101 The retail price on a new 2011 Hobie Mirage Pro Angler is $2,499.

  • @MPromnitz ok thanks who did you buy it off ?

  • Couldn't feel more differently than MajDanger, sorry! Was in a tournament and fishing in my PA w/ a guy in a Revo that has the turbo fins upgrade. Had no problem hanging with him and doing a top speed run together, ended up at 6mph and the Revo was riding my wake the whole time like a surfer lol... The PA is plenty fast especially now that I've added a homemade sail... might post a vid on it.

  • Your wearing my shoes!

  • :-) 16 miles? Man my legs are tired just thinking about it. Takes alot of energy to move a 100+ lb boat. Being 50ish years of age I just don't have what its takes. I guess I couldn't push it the way it can be. Incredible fishing platform to say the least. I dearly wish i could peddle the thing myself beyond 3 mph for 16 miles. I do love the boat.

  • Nice set up. I test rode an angler a few days ago. Extremely nice platform with one major draw back ( for me anyway) its a dern tug boat. The weight of the boat makes this incredible platform just too slow for an extended venture. That means alot of work to get there very slowly. Best to invest more money into a 60lb trolling motor. By that time the investment into the boat seems to get steeper with every accessory.

  • @MajDanger Wow! That is the first time I have heard a person refer to the Pro Angler as slow. Most people beem from ear to ear after testing the Pro Angler because they are suprised at how fast it is for having so much stability and storage space. I have seen guys on Pro Anglers blow by other kayakers on the water on several occassions; and I have covered over 16 miles in a day fishing on the pacific ocean. I have to fully disagree with your comment about the Pro Angler being slow.

  • @MPromnitz I agree., I am 200lbs+ and I blow smoke in my pro angler. Fact, with my 40lbs kid sitting on the front, we can get going fast enough to 108 the thing. It is awesome!
