There is really no possible way to compare drummers from one style to another and there can't be one best drummer, and to be honest all these people who say travis barker or joey are the best in the world, one almost guaranteed dont play drums themselves and if they do, they have a very vague knowledge of music and musicians and have a lot to learn.

well.. his HANDS are about as fast as they get.. buddy rich fast....but for an overall drummer... id probably say john blackwell is the best. the top 15 guys or so are all equally as awesome however.. just play different styles...thats why blackwell is the best.. he plays about 5 different styles at a top 10 level.

you know, considering some of the shit music that's really produced lately, at least this guy took the time to learn to chops, then use drumming appropriate for the band for which he plays. of course he's no roddy or kollias or sandoval but I don't expect that from slipknot. chris adler has tremendous skill but he's tasteful about it. that's what it all comes down to, holding a beat, and if you can add chops to it why not? and speed's all about control anyway.

Joey is a great drummer, no doubt, he has skills. BUT he is NOT the best, he can be considered a great drummer and one of the best in his genre of music! But listen to me, there are no such thing as world's best drummer. And even if there was such thing, Joey wouldnt be in the top 10! Not even Travis Barker who is also a GREAT drummer and deserves respec

All the Joey fans are going to jump all over me but I could care less. This playing is fairly typical of metal drumming. The double bass is going non stop to create the sound of extra strokes. Joey is obviously far better than most of these guys because he does add some creativity to his playing. I'd still rather listen to Neil Peart, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Caliuta, Carter Beauford, etc. any day of the week. They play with-in themselves and it's musical, not just beating up the kit.

@RipRJD I haven't listened to Vinny much. I'm such a drumming fanatic that my favorites list is so huge and incorporates so many styles. I just heard Keith Carlock in NYC playing with Steely Dan. Never heard of him. Let me tell you he was fabulous. Good chops, incredibly musical, and a bass drum this side of John Bonham. He has an awkward playing style(to look at), but the ears don't care. He loves flams, that's a lost art. Enjoy.
