These guys didn't look like apes, one must have been 1,80 meters. They looked exactly like us. There is no link between apes and homo sapiens. Besides, there exist artifacts 100s thousands, even millions of years old. Tools and human bones, shunned by "academia". w w w. mathildenhoehe. org
There are several books available on this cave and others which documents the age of the cave paintings. Carbon was used in the paint pigments and was checked by the carbon dating method and it was indicated to be over 30,000 years old. Do a seach on CARBON DATING on GOOGLE for an explaination of how this is done. I do not think there were any Indians in France over 30,000 years ago but we could be wrong.
@eyechord. We didn't come out of Africa 40,000 years ago. The most current and scientifically accepted time frame for anatomically modern humans to "leave" Africa was around 125,000 years ago. You are only off by up to two thirds. Get your facts straight before making a post where science is involved. Either get hip, or sound like a dip!
ireland, spain, france, egypt-Atlantis! Where do light eyes and hair come from if we all came out of Africa 40,000 years ago like they say? Not enough time for us to evolve into Euros, sorry. Either get hip hip or continue to believe what the newsman tells you, its your choice.
Reason it wasn't earlier was it was in construction! Notice that the definition and ratios match the perceived expectation of a troglodyte. Gimme a break!! Walt Disney is alive and well.
On the other hand, maybe these Cave Artists )or maybe The Basques in France weren't the Inventors of ART. However, I would guess that they sure found ways where the Shaman was the local artistic "genius's" of that time and got away with a lot of things -briefly. I saw a documentary on these -Our Artistic-founding Forefathers that the Scientific Researchers were studying in Euroe and on the Southern most tip of the African Continent and said Humans Invented Art 100,000 years ago.
@VideoGo and everyone... It's really Amateur of Archaeologists and Anthopoligists to CHANGE THE ORIGINS-LOCATIONS STORY EVERY TIME A NEW & OLDER SITE IS DISCOVERED SOMEWHERE . The fact is that -just like with the Dinosaurs found -after 32,000 the Chauvet Cave Paintings are -32,000- years old and that's more than enough time to Deteriorate their Physical state on those walls. NorthEast Spain & SouthWest France is where these Art-Sites are found -along with Basques whose Genes match NO Europeans.
@VideoGo. Actually, you're mistake to assume that just because they discovered these much older cave paintings -that these 2 places Europe and China must be where Art started.... mmm Not really. Like the Missing Links -every time they find one, they write a Fictional Script for those sites -and Label them as where Civilization Must have started in. Not really. There are Hundreds of Places Like Chauvet Cave -we just haven't found them yet.
Thanks for posting these images. They seem, to me, to show that appreciation of "the numinous" is one of the most enduring defining characteristic of our species. It should go without saying that as these are in the order of tens of thousands of years old they pre date the mind forged manacles that the last of the images alluded to.
Some primative people did paint the human form, many as stick figures. But it could be that like some American Indians, when they saw the first photos of themselves, it had "stolen" their soul. When I try to imagine what it would be to be alive and there during those times, I think to myself, this is the way we were created to live.
Thank you. There were only two places in the world where this type of ancient art was done 25,000+ years ago, eastern Europe and China, all the others were stick figures. We are fortunate that these beautiful wall paintings have survived this long. I often wonder what it would have been like to be alive at that time. Our ancestors were remarkable humans.
This is really inspiring, and really confirms for me, that art is most satisfying and creative with an open mind, no indoctrined styles and no theory. Thanks for posting that compilation of photos.!
Absolutely, There are probably many even better finds just silently waiting to be discovered. Little time capsules from our distant primitive ancestors who dispite the odds, have succeeded in reaching across the eons to give us a glimpse of their lost world. We should be grateful they did.
Why did these animals went extinct?

@Videogo153
how do we know it was primitive people that did this?
it could of been some Indian's for all we know that could have done these paintings

or some tribes or whatever in that area.

It is so fascinating to me that there are no human representations. Perhaps they thought it stole the spirit as some other cultures do still.

Anyone know what music this is? It's haunting in the way that parts of Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings score are. Perfect for these images.
