I have Tom and Jerry spotlight collections vol. 1,2 and 3 which has almost all of the mgm Hanna Barbera shorts except for Mouse Cleaning and Casanova Cat! So I am glad you uploaded this for me to see! These cartoons are so inventive even when they are politically incorrect! I enjoy black Mammy Two Shoes, Tom's owner in many of the cartoons, she is a funny character!(I'm african american) Jerry in blackface reflects the white performers portrail of black dancers at that time(The Jazz Singer)

@FilmFTW1 I've done some reading on the background behind such gags, and the more I think about it, the more I understand why blacks would take offense at such gags. The scary thing is, when I see blacks portrayed in this "blackface" style, I find myself tempted to see them as less than human. I look at them more like that singing orange from Sesame Street, when she sings from "Carman". That's not an image of blacks we want to pass on to our children.
Love tom and jerry, love the looney tunes! Back in my day (which wasn't so long ago about 13 years ago) kids were aloud to watch this on tv now we have to sift out what's racist, violent, most mild innuendo and all those other things that are 'BAD' for kids. But these are CARTOONS pieces of FICTION and FANTASY! IT'S NOT REAL! I was brought up with this and i'm not violent, not racist either. There really was nothing wrong with the Jerry Black Face at all, I never thought OMFG BLACK PPL SUCK when I saw it, and I'm only 15 right now, so I saw this when I was like 6? 7? 8?
The woman is a darker shade of black than I remember her (she's a bit lighter in stuff I've seen) but even then I don't see any of this as innapropriate, just hyper-sensitive people getting too irate
I saw another episode where Tom fell in love with the same cat and Jerry tried to break up the relationship just like in this episode by getting Butch to get in a fight with Tom. Butch is always sitting in the trashcan the same way singing somewhere over the rainbow and always falls into it after always receiving a note from Jerry. Just little things that I've noticed...

There really was nothing wrong with the Jerry Black Face at all, I never thought OMFG BLACK PPL SUCK when I saw it, and I'm only 15 right now, so I saw this when I was like 6? 7? 8?
The woman is a darker shade of black than I remember her (she's a bit lighter in stuff I've seen) but even then I don't see any of this as innapropriate, just hyper-sensitive people getting too irate

I saw another episode where Tom fell in love with the same cat and Jerry tried to break up the relationship just like in this episode by getting Butch to get in a fight with Tom. Butch is always sitting in the trashcan the same way singing somewhere over the rainbow and always falls into it after always receiving a note from Jerry. Just little things that I've noticed...
