I kept mine stock for a long time while I was learning, and it was fine. I would recommend getting the DSM 2.4ghz version, rather than the 27mhz version. The 27mhz version seems to suffer from radio interference quite often. You might want to line the leading edge of the wings with a piece packing tape, for protection. Also, if you fly on grass, you might want bigger wheels. As you learn to fly, you'll notice a few things that need to be touched up from time to time. It's a really great plane!
Great video. I about to purchase the super cub as my first plane. Any suggestions about upgrades? Should i leave it stock until i learn to fly it? Im pretty good with the helis so i should be ok with this unit.
Nice rig dude! I wouldnt mind doing these mods to my cub. Can you do a quick vid of where and how you fit that battery into your plane? That would be awesome. keep up the good work!
@kyle2380 - Great minds think alike! Yes, I have flown it a few times. It seems to balance and fly just right with an 1800mah battery mounted vertically in the front of the modified battery bay. With a 2200mah battery, it flys ever so slightly nose heavy, which is kinda what I prefer. My slightly larger wheels might have something to do with it also, but not sure...
will this work with the piper j3 cub from hobbyzone?

Have you flown this plane yet? I have the exact motor and mount on my
Supercub, but I had to add close to two oz of weight to the firewall to get my cg right. Check out my videos.
