wow this song has been a very polemic one.... but let me say something about it. I think that this is the best version of the song, michael jackson made it for chris to sing it right. And then david cook use it to show his voice. But I think that chris has more style and attitud, it sound more honest and relaxed than david, still david cook did do a good job with the song.... I think that music y for be performed, and so they did it.

well.. it's quite simply really. Chris Cornell interpreted MJ's song, and made a new version, and David Cook interpreted Chris' version and made a new one. The great thing about interpretations is that they're all different, which allows people like us to choose our favoruite and the artists to keep their individuality ^_^ I love them both, the same yet different!

I am sooooo sick of all the whining about this song! Like common!Cornell got the credit when David Cook was introduced-they said 'Chris Cornell's version of Billy Jean' so quit bitching! Second, I never would have even known about this version of Billy Jean if it wasn't for David Cook so they should thank him! Third, maybe the arrangement was very close but it WAS David that decided just how to cut and paste it so that it would fit perfectly AND he sung it WAY better than Cornell EVER could! :P

I really doubt that in Chris Cornell's 20 year, Grammy Winning career, that David Cook's rendition is the best thing that happened to his career. Having said that, Chris Cornell may become much more popular with the younger generation of people who don't know who he is (which is a shame).
