Еkaterina Maksimova had past away today, suddenly in her sleep. Her 94 y.o. mother found her. So sad. She is the most talented ballerina!

Thank you so much for posting this. I had read this about Maximova -- that she is a very serious and thoughtful person, in contrast to her light-hearted, ingenue persona on stage. This seems to be true, judging from her interview here.

I like hearing her discuss the lack of meaning in today's ballet. A lack of the spiritual, although she doesn't use that word.

To me, much of modern ballet has become empty, mechanical.
