  • True That vonti

  • I couldn't care less about the time line. I enjoyed playing the Legend of Zelda game series. That's all that matters.

  • Oops ran out of characters, but it always made sense to me that then the split would go towards either Twilight Princess (if he returns, peace in Hyrule yay) or if he doesn't and either stays in Termina or travels all these other places looking for Navi, then that could lead up to Windwaker (remember the prologue? How the hero left after saving the day but never returned then things went to crap?) I dunno. I'm just throwing my thoughts out there. Still doesn't explain much though. Nothing can..

  • Nice 25th anniversary symphony music in the background! lol But I completely agree that the third timeline split was ridiculous. I mean, if that's the case, then couldn't there be splits at the end of EVERY game based on whether or not the hero was successful?? A cop-out for sure. I've had my own little theories about the split though. I think it should have split at the end of Majora (it IS supposed to be a direct sequal to OoT) and then be based on whether or not Link ever returned to Hyrule.

  • In response to the video, I personally prefer the theory that the Triforce wish at the end if ALttP, in an attempt to undo Ganons evil, changed the past and allowed the Hero Of Time to win, thus meaning the HoT failing was predestined. However the entire timeline is solid, all except the reason behind the third split (which is fine just weird), I just think Zelda fans are having a hard time accepting Hyrule Historia because we are so used to coming up with our own theories.

  • My theory about Impa putting the Triforce "somewhere else" is that Impa put the Triforce in the sacred realm connected to the Lanayru desert Temple of Time, where it is found in OoT in Castle town. However, the Master Sword rests in the Sealed Grounds temple, not the Temple of Time in castle town. Why was it then in OoT? Because the legend is vague and there will always be timeline inconsistencies.

  • I was so close... (damn you third split!!)

    My Timeline:

AT: SS MC FS OOT WW PH ST

CT: SS MC FS OOT MM TP FSA ALTTP OOX LA LOZ AOL

  • The new 3rd timeline was how it was supost to happen before they did the split timeline and made Windwaker and Twilight Princes. Ocreana of Time was supost to be a prequle to a link to the past

  • /watch?v=umS4flaa-20

  • Personally, I prefer to interpret the Zelda timeline the way it makes sense to me and makes me happy. Why anguish over the "official" timeline and get irritated when others' cling to ideas that you don't like? The stories in Zelda have always been wonderful because they have the amount of minimalism you need to use your own imagination to fill the details. That's what makes Zelda stories some of the best ever crafted.

Getting worked up about it like in this video, is silly & missing the point.

  • I have to disagree about the Oracle games fitting in nicely in the new theory. In Minish Cap, it is specifically said that Minish Cap's version of Nayru is a descendant of the ORACLE Nayru from the Oracle games. If this new "official" timeline is true, then how in the hell is Nayru of Minish Cap a descendant of a character from a story that doesn't come for possibly centuries.

  • No it was stated at the time of RELEASE. four swords that it took part before Oot.

  • It's not that bad that Link eventually fails and loses, I mean, he can't win EVERY SINGLE TIME!

Eventually Link must lose, it can't be possible for every single Link to succeed, it just is very unlikely. All the Link's can't be the same, each of them can have different flaws and talents etc. so it would makes sense if all the Link's don't succeed, so some of them must lose someday. The timeline about Link losing is quite possible and is very unique, making the series a lot more interesting. =)

  • DUDE!!! I heard gerudo desert in the back ground and I got so happy, that's my favorite tract on the CD.

  • @cuykai valley*

  • Ganon could have used the door of time to find the skyward sword link and maybe kill him which made the triforce spit

  • Eh, I think when they made Ocarina of Time, they knew there was going to be some time travel things, so they would need to come up with how the events in each time impacted the "future". I think all subsequent games after OoT were intentionally designed, storywise, to fit into a timeline BECAUSE they knew OoT was gonna create a split.

  • Legend-A traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated. that explains every single problem is it is all legend n where the story is gathered is unknown its the fact of the tale being retold before generations "done in the games passing tales throughout" i do wish there was a proper timeline myself but so far it is to unjust in to many spots in the timeline

  • I don't think the temple of time is the entrance to the sacred realm, rather, it contains it. There was a sort of warp there, and they built the temple around that area to conceal it, the only way to use the portal is to draw the master sword, thus unleashing the "energy" of the portal through the pedestal maybe? So before they built the temple, anyone could use it, including Impa. This must also be true for the portals in the dungeon in the goddess statue, which warps Link to the sacred realm

  • What I'm really hoping for is an eventual merge between the three timelines, however that may happen, followed by the FUTURE events of the Legend of Zelda universe on that now single timeline.

  • 3:30 - Of course there would be some crazy outcomes. According to what we "know" about time travel in general, any little change can produce major future consequences.

  • Geography shouldnt have to make sense in the context of gaming. I wouldnt really like the series if it was the same map of Hyrule all the time.

However it does seem that the Lost Woods of LttP creep in and destroy the temple of time from OoT leaving only the master sword to remain.

  • What.

  • In Ocarina of Time the Hyrule Castle and all of that would have been more considered in Eldin Province more than Lanayru by a long shot. There's establishing shots when you enter the Sealed Grounds which proves an easy connection to the ToT, so it's clear they had this in mind.

There's going to be more information about the Downfall Timeline, I'm sure. They won't leave it just as that. The reason it was done was to make sure that ALttP's backstory still worked, and it does.

  • Love your opinions bro. Good work.

On the timeline, I can truthfully care less about it. I like that it was revealed, but I honestly believe that it changes nothing. Nintendo will still go about making Zelda games as stand alone entries into the series. Any connection one picks up and correlates it to the timeline would just be fan service and I'm okay with that.

  • "as I'm sure you can glean from the title." I never knew 'Glean' was a word. Or even thought of it.

2:46 Music=Zelda Orchestra! It's also the music you hear at the 'Press Start' screen in ALttP!

  • Axel, the temple of time was in the faron region in twilight princess. because the master sword was in the ruins of the temple of time. and we know this because u go back in time and u see the temple of time

  • I don't understand how LOZ SS Is the First if they say there are uncountless genarations from the past hell they even said from "A Message from the goddese last from a countless era ago"

  • @MrDragonkind because that game shows how the master sword was made, so it had to be before OoT, which is before every other game. also, it shows how people got to hyrule in the first place.

  • I think they said that this is the official timeline to put new games in an specific order, and to make sense. In my case, I find the official timeline very interesting, but the whole "link is defeated" really bugs me, I just hope they translated wrong or have a really good argument to that.

  • I would have honestly much preferred if they allowed Skyward Sword to ALSO get get a split timeline and put the cop out timeline in the split timeline instead.

  • But... maybe Impa did put it somewhere else. We don't exactly know how many years were between SS and MC but maybe it's long enough for a future game to fit it and have the triforce be removed from the place Impa put it and put it into the sacred realm.

  • btw to wht ur sayin bout Link being defeated, u know in oot when he pulled the master sword he was missing for 7 years, so during tht time he was defeated! There was no hero for hyrule when ganondorf gotten into the sacred realm and stole the triforce!

  • @kidingo2000

But he didnt get the triforce. It split into 3 giving the other 2 pieces to Zelda and Link. Link has to die for Ganon to complete the triforce and turn the Sacred Realm into LttP's Dark World.

  • @kidingo2000 I always figured the defeated Link timeline would refer to when he went back in time to gain access to the Spirit Temple. He gets the Silver Gauntlets as a kid and so the timeline was forever changed, leading to the new timeline of defeating Ganon as adult Link. After going back in time and changing the timeline this way, the old adult Link timeline before the Silver Gauntlet is now missing adult Link, hence the Sealing Wars.

  • I think it was made tht way to add more games which is always good

  • Um, it's just a game...

  • HAHA Cool guy... Subscribed for all ur content =D

  • Here's my theory on the third split:

When Link was sent back in time by Zelda at the end of Ocarina of Time, there was no chance he could be sent back to his original timeline. By original, I mean the events leading up to Link drawing the Master Sword from the Pedestal of Time. Since Ganon was defeated, there was no way he could've been in the timeline Link returns to. In the original timeline, Link was never there to stop Ganon, thus, explaning a third split.

    That's my opinion, not fact.

  • @RT2361 the translations of the third split say that the hero of time was defeated, not absent

  • @BloogaBla ya but, there was still no real say wht happen when link went missing after he pulled the master sword in oot!

  • @kidingo2000 Thank you, for supporting my theory.

  • @BloogaBla That's just what I thought, but the whole death just didn't make sense to me.

  • Apart from a few exceptions this Timline is crap. Fail

  • I'm just going to throw this out here, but the third timeline being a cause of Link being defeated in OoT could definitely be a translation issue. Maybe, Link was never awakened as the Hero of Time. But not like what happened on the child timeline, but Link never met Navi in the first place because the Deku tree never summoned Link. Thus Link having no knowledge of whatever happening, meaning no Majora's mask and no Twilight Princess (no Hero's Shade either.)

  • Please, come down. You've problems with the time-line, WOOOW!! Hope Nintendo doesn't see this. ????? You get anoyed, hmmm. Try to relax and play Zelda or Secret of mana on SNES.... Greetings Norway :]

  • So the time-split was too complex but the Water Temple is fine?

  • Moral of the story: don't mess with time.

  • The 'Link is defeated' section isn't a random timeline section...

It makes perfect sense. Take Ganon's castle in Ocarina of Time. Ganon kills Link, Ganon succeeds, Link to the Past.

Sure, it could be added to any game. Take Twilight Princess. If Link doesn't defeat Zant/Ganondorf, the world will stay in Twilight. But it makes it fitting that there's a third path from OOT.

  • I have trouble with twilight princess going under the catergory of the sacred realm is protected. Reason being, if the sacred realm was indeed protected, then the triforce was never released into the world. So how could link zelda or ganondorf have it in that game?

  • @lordofninjas1 that's actually a good point, seems the most logical anyway

  • * called something else, would've made a lot more sense

  • @TheArcticFoxWarrior who are the guardians of the temple of time? the sages... whats another name for sages? Arbiters... the "Temple of Time" in Lanayru desert is most likely the Arbiters Grounds in Twilight Princess or the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time. they build another temple of time in the Sealed Grounds which is the one that houses the Master Sword and sacred realm. I believe Rauru even said that he and the sages built the Temple of Time in Ocarina of Time.

  • The Temple of Time being in Lanayru during Skyward Sword really annoyed me because if you compare the world maps for Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess (gamecube version) you will see that many things are roughly in line aka the desert, the forest, the volcano and even the castle or in SS case, skyloft so why have the very grand looking Temple of Time in Skyward Sword be in the wrong place, why not called the Sealed Grounds the Temple of Time and call the Temple of Time someth

  • Regarding you problems with a "defeated" timeline, I understood it differently. At the beginning of Ocarina of Time Link is in one timeline, let's call it TA (Timeline A). When he travels into the future he creates Timeline B (TB). Now, when he is sent back from TB, he creates a new timeline, Timeline C (TC). So rather than him being defeated in TA, it's more he's missing, i.e. similar to what happens in TB with WW. Link is only present in TC at the conclusion of OoT. Again, my understanding.

  • @Lucrei91 good way of phrasing it. I am not saying your wrong but using the logic you just stated "when he gets sent back from TB, he creates a new Timeline" he goes back and forth at least 3 different times... using your logic a different timeline would be created everytime he goes back and forth leaving there being 6 timelines or so. I am not making fun of you or saying you are wrong I am just pointing out the flaw in what you stated.

  • I know skyward sword is first but minish cap I know its the oringin of the hat but think in skyward sword you don't even start out with a tunic and I understand that ocarina of time is later cause its the war this is like 100 years later please comment back

  • @qnavyseal Skyward Sword has to be first because Hyrule isnt even established like it is in all the other games. Minish Cap is confusing because I always thought of it like this hats can go missing, also stories can get retold. maybe the SS Links story was portrayed with him not having a hat or maybe there is another game to go in betweeen them. then it would be OoT. personally I thought OoT went before Minish Cap but whatever.

  • *Instert paragraph of timeline argue*

    Nahh its fine :|

  • more time could have been spent putting serious thought and making more logical connections and reasonings. They probably could have waited until maybe one or two more new games were created.

Also, I wonder if the split timelines, whether it being two of them or all three, could somehow fuse back together somehow. Now that would be a really good, interesting, and more satisfying twist.

Sorry for how long all I had to say was! I didn't expect to have such an opinion until I started writing lol

  • could have waited quite a few more years. When I first heard of the timeline I was sad because I thought there were going to be no more timeline debates (which I find very interesting although I don't like debating much myself), but then I realized as I read it that this new "official" timeline gives tons of room for more debating! I don't see this timeline staying too "official" for long. I'm not against the idea of having an official timeline released. I just think...(see 3rd comment sorry)

  • I honestly don't think this timeline is as "official" as it's intended to be. Of course right now it's official, but I definitely expect it to change and be re-written in time (at least I really hope it will be). I'm not a big fan of the "what-if?"/cop-out timeline split. It just seems very lazy to me. I think it was too early to release the timeline. I also think Nintendo probably felt rushed to release an "official" timeline with Skyward Sword and everything. The timeline...(see 2nd comment)

  • "Let's call it the cop-out timeline" *hits like button*

  • @RavenHinamori *hits like button to your comment about hitting the like button*

  • To be honest, I don't think Nintendo won't screw up any Zelda games. They never have, and they never will, especially due to this timeline news. They know what they are doing, and they're the best at it too. They probably just made this timeline to confuse us, and their enjoying it, because that's what the Zelda series is about. The timeline is definitely not over yet, and probably will never be, but one thing that we know is that the Zelda series isn't going to change due to this news or any n

  • I do not mind the whole Zelda Timeline thing at all. I believe that Zelda fans and dedicated individuals that are involved in this franchise should always be open minded and curious. No matter what the supposed order of the games lies in, the beauty of the entire LOZ series is that any future, or the previous games only expands the legendary/vast history which has been imprinted throughout the millions of players. The amount of thought that has gone into any of the games is superb overall.

  • 8:16-9:11 lol

  • i dont really believe in the "link being defeated" timeline. i think that that timeline (with a link to the past and the oracle games) is the original timeline of oot before link pulled the master sword and fucked everything up. because link goes forward in time, does some shit, and then goes back, and once again goes forward, but now into a different future because he changed stuff. so now in the original timeline, link doesnt exist and ganon wins because there is no link.

  • im playing a link to the past for the first time right now its a great game im goign to tdo the whole thing without a walkthrough i just started the second dungeon and its getting preety annoying.. :p

  • They could still make another prequel, we still haven't played as "The Hero Of Men" yet, and I guess it would take place before Skyward Sword.......

  • (SPOILER) shouldnt the timeline split after skyward sword, after the whole defeating demise with a building in the present, and with the master sword in the past? and what causes the present to change when you plant the sapling for the tree of life, and not when you stab him in the chest?

  • i think theyve done fans a great disservice bringing this out. half the fun was in what the fans thought the timeline was. by bringing out this book of pretty much the most plausible theories (stalfos link from termina, split timeline theory, theres probably more) they cement in stone what should have stayed as just theories. the copout theory though could be spanning from the multiverse theory that appears in pretty much every scifi show at least once. which is ridiculous that they put it in z

  • @IrishMTS are you that surprised? every timeline I have seen people make basically say that there is a 3rd timeline where they place the oracle games. and most of the fans had a correct timeline anyways. so it wasnt really a disservice if we already guessed it basically before.

  • So what games are on the "cop out " timeline? I'm gonna start calling it that by the way:P

This won't last anyway... One game, and the whole thing crumbles :/ they would of being better sticking with the literal legend theory that they said it was.

  • @ezioauditore693 ALttP, OoA/S and LA.

  • @ezioauditore693 Miyamoto and Aonuma never said it was a literal legend. that was a fan made thing to explain the timeline. every statement I have heard from Miyamoto and Aonuma said that there was a timeline but that they would probably never reveal it. not necisarrily. they could also release games that tie more things together. dont be negative. they know what they are doing otherwise they wouldnt have released it.

  • the hero is defeated is stupid.

  • @Tauking1970 it fits on the end of child timeline

  • sense when does the Master Sword exist in Lanayru??? Its always been in Faron Province hasn't it.

  • @rulerofyourface yes. the "Temple of Time" in Lanayru most likely becomes the Arbiters Grounds in Twilight Princess or the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time. I believe the sage Rauru even said in Ocarina of Time that he and the other sages built the Temple of Time that houses the Master Sword.

  • timeline theory= a lot of confusion and mess I really don't care to debate about and never will

  • I somehow see a connection between the SS Sealed Temple and the TP Sacred Grove

  • You're making /way/ too many assumptions - you're not event taking into account cultural changes that occur over hundreds of years. What is called the temple of time in one game may not be in another because of cultural change. What's considered human at one time may be hylian in another. You need a cultural perspective if you want to understand the Timeline - it still stands legitimate and fine, with some tight squeezes for necessity.

  • @R0l30 thank you. finally another person that uses logic on the timeline. and its not only cultural change. there are other things to take into account also but cultural change is a big part of it.

  • I Personally dont really care about the timeline

  • 20 timelines, one for each gameover and time travel.

  • In all honesty, I think it was a bad idea to release an 'official' timeline. A lot of the fun of being a Zelda fan was debating with other fans about their own versions of the timeline and their own theories. By releasing an 'official' one, it has taken away from the intrigue and the mystery of the Zelda timeline.

  • @munchkinmonkey100 So true! I agree with you a 100%

  • @munchkinmonkey100 Yeah I know what you mean I thought they would wait for another giant Zelda game or some other epic way of realeasing it but I did think there was 3 timelines instead of just a split 2 one.

  • I always thought an official timeline WAS something that existed, and figured nintendo never released it to the public so they could change and alter it to fit in each game once it was made/while it was being made. I don't think they're going to treat this timeline very officially even if it IS the real one, and I really don't think they should release timelines at all at this point, considering how many people have so many different theories about it...:/

  • I always thought AlttP took place after TP. It made some sense, with the Master Sword in TP being in the woods in what was a ruin of the Temple of Time, and ending up in the woods in AlttP. Of course, there's the whole Kakariko Villiage/Ordon Villiage deal, but who's to say they couldn't have moved Kakariko after a disaster on Death Mountain, which could've caused the extinction of the Gorons, which is why they aren't there in AlttP, Zelda and Zelda 2.

  • @MrWhiskeyWalk that would make the most sense. but I bet Nintendo already has something else planned for it.

  • Agree with you 100%. The whole timeline concept is rubbish.

  • Axel, Impa said she was going to hide the triforce, not move it somewhere else in SS. Also how can WW come after ALttP? Did you miss "...And the Master Sword sleeps again...FOREVER" at the end of ALttP? Also, I love "The Cop-out Timeline" because "if the hero is defeated" is stupid. But it does prevent them from making another game with another time line split to fit the third timeline in. I blame Back to the Future part II!

  • also two link puts the sword back into the pedestal of time and therefore extinguishing the existance of the future timeline or the adult timeline see see???? no future link exist!

  • i dont think there was a split timeline because think of this logically 1 link gets put to sleep in ocarina of time for seven years tops ganandorf in the future (btw why i mean if you know he is bad stop him in the.... oh thats right he goes with link to the future... wait no no he doesnt nvm "remembers that in the future ganon has a mullet" anyways ya just stop him in the past)

  • @Brian5412 why would he have any reason to stop Ganon in the past. Zelda said that she had a bad feeling about him but he didnt do anything bad in the past... well to Zelda or them anyways. it wasnt even until the Master Sword was pulled that he was truely seen as evil and his evil intentions were revealed.

  • I don't get it. How is there both and adult and child timeline for Ocarina of Time. Wouldn't young Link's timeline just come before adult Link's. Like, wouldn't the adult Link events in Ocarina of Time technically take place AFTER the child Link events in Majora's Mask?

  • i also thought ALttP pas before WW. that being said, this timeline could have had a small mistranslation in terms of the third split and link being "defeated". also, just because the temple of time is in faron province at the end of skyward sword and its in the Lanayru province in future games, doesnt mean it doesnt add up. the provinces are constantly changing. example, the desert being in lanayru in SS and there being a lake there in future games and a desert province in TP. time changesthings

  • then four swords adventures, wind waker, phantom hour glass, spirt tracks, a link to the past, orcale, links awaking, zelda1, zelda2

that is how i though went

  • Ok... what i think happened is Skyward Sword, Ocarina of time, then zelda sent him back to the last time he pulled the sword out, then majora's mask happened, then link died, but before that he had a baby with malon, then without the child link the link that went to the future before defeated ganon, and the baby grew to become the link in twilight princess, (oh and the knight teaching him all of the moves in that game was child link and malon died.), then minishing cap, four swords,

  • I think they did the timeline split to see fans reaction to where games should be in the timeline

  • Axle, will the zelda hystoria book come out in english?

  • I'd like to see a follow up to Twilight Princess.

  • @scootercrunch11 me too!

  • hey axle i think what @tamaraleeh was saying is that the temple of time didn't phisically move but it was torn down and built some place else @thezeldadungeon

  • @skillednightmare or its still there acting as the Arbiters Grounds or Spirit Temple. and another one was built to house the Master Sword.

  • FIX THE TIMELINE NINTENDO! that is all

  • link is defeated.... that really is ridiculous. if nintendo is going to do that, then what's to stop them from doing that in any other game? samus was defeated by mother brain, the metroids kill everything! kirby was defeated, the nightmares rule dream land! mario was defeated, bowser keeps peach forever and builds his galaxy! seriously, the 3rd split wasnt bad, but ANY other explanation would have been better

  • @mikewj94 Nintendo probably has something else planned to make that make more sense.

  • so you state that the games should all be considered as a stand-alone experience. and that you find the timeline annoying. but on the same video you state that you think it's "pretty cool", and that it "goes together perfectly" in reference to ALTTP, OoX, and LA. so which one is it? i'm sure if nintendo would have made the timline you wanted, you'd say it was amazing and that it really brings the games together. like you did with those games. I guess both you and Nintendo contradict yourselves

  • i think the temple of time in SS is the same one as in TP but axel you have always said location isnt cannon (ex Oot gerudo desert- desert colos. TP gerudo desert-arbiter's grounds (ruins of desert colos.) SS lanayru providence (ruins of temple of time?) and oot's and TP's castletowns

  • @MrIrishgodfather1 I think what you are trying to say is that the "Temple of Time" in SS becomes the Arbiters Grounds or the Spirit Temple right?

  • I think zelda 3ds should explain the copout timeline

  • Also, I wouldn't be worried at all about how this is going to change future games. With Nintendo, time and time again, it has always been "gameplay first, story second" so I'm not worried at all! I'm excited for Zelda3DS and WiiU :D

  • @xvalerieannex That's the only way the third split makes sense, and it does. But if it wasn't created with that reasoning, and was based purely off of a "what if" scenario, then I'd have to agree that it is a complete cop-out. But its Nintendos timeline. I may be in the minority when I say this, but knowing the canon order of the games has made me happy! Portrays it like the epic legend that TLoZ is supposed to be!

  • IMHO the third "defeated" split is a time that cannot be returned to because you changed something in it's past. That time continues on, but there is no link to defeat Ganon. Axel, think about it like Majoras Mask. Each time link goes back, the time that link leaves behind is still moving forward to the apocalypse. Although you escaped from that time, everyone else will die in that *specific* time, because you had to travel to the past in hopes of creating a new and different future.

  • I must say that as a Zelda fan, I was partially annoyed by the release of the book, not so much from being wrong but the fact that there was going to be a set in stone timeline; though annoyed, i could live with this, and set my inferences aside.

But, as you brought up Axel, some of these connections don't make much sense, and I feel that the split timeline though having its benefits is perhaps, not necessary.

I still like to see the timelines people make, and I still like how I order them.

  • To what you were saying about the timeline not being intended to have a split during OoT's development, I agree with you to an extent. When they were originally planning time travel, they probably weren't thinking to themselves "it'd be pretty cool to split the timeline." But during the development, I would bet that they'd think to themselves "wait.. but which ending is real?" So in that sense they had to have planned it during development, but it wasn't their intent.

  • I don't see the point in getting upset at the timeline. It doesn't effect the games or gameplay in anyway. No need to be upset at any part of it.

  • Axle, if you think about they've already been telling us where games fit in the timeline. they went right out and said "Phantom Hourglass is sequel to WW. Spirit Tracks is sequel to Phantom Hourglass. then SS is prequel to all. heck they've been doing it since Wind Waker!

  • the official timeline is stupid

  • You know instead of Link being defeated by Ganon in Ocarina of Time it should be if Link stay in the Adult Timeline instead of being defeated. I mean it could show that Hero of Time's Descendant defeated Ganon & Agahnim in A Link to the Past. While Link was sent to the Child Timeline by Princess Zelda and because of that his descendant won't be there to defeat Agahnim and Ganon which lead to the Adult Timeline.

  • U should do a walkthrough on Zelda adventure on minecraft dude plz

  • The Temple of Time was in Faron in Twilight Princess...

  • i was peeved when zelda was all of a sudden a random love interest in sky, i read the manga and in ocarina of time link and her are twins.... how does that make sense even in the game the issue of them being related is like hinted at?

  • I still think that it's possible to place every game in one line, especially if Link spent a lot of time in the Lost Woods searching for Navi after Majora's Mask. Of course, I'm a 3D Zelda game player, so I really don't know if the 2D titles would fit in there.

  • The only thing is dislike about it is the Timeline is the random placement of Four Swords Adventure. But also something I kinda love and hate at the same time is the ''What if'' thingy. If Link is defeated in OoT and causes a split could mean that there might be more like this in the future Zelda titles. So it could mean that The Wind Waker Link is defeated and Ganon rises with the old Hyrule in a future Zelda title (Actually that seems kinda cool :D )

  • Axle - CREATE YOUR OWN TIMELINE AND SHOW US

  • Maybe in Ocarina of Time they didnt mean for a Spit, but they intended one with Wind Wakers release, without a doubt. I think after that, they had it all figured out. I personally hate how SO many people are crying about this official timeline, and i think the main reason is because their fanons and theorys are now ruined... thats SOOOO stupid. We've waited for this timeline forever! We now have it, and now everyones complaining about it? Sad.

  • Maybe they should just leave this timeline thing alone because it just makes something very simple unnecessarily complicated! I just enjoy the series a game at a time and that's how it is supposed to be enjoyed

  • maybe the 'Ganondorf wins' link doesn't get defeated he just isn't there necause when zelda sends you back in time she sends you back BEFORE you first pulled the master sword and this caused the 3rd split so Link is removed from his original timeline that you start OOT in and so in the original timeline there is no hero and ganomdorf takes over and then the imprisoning war happens then ALTTP so Link is never really defeated he just isn't there. this makes more sense to me

  • I think the 3rd timeline could perfectly fall after the child timeline. I mean (if I remember right), Zelda and the 6 Shrine Maidens seal Ganon into the Four Sword at the end of FSA. And in the LttP remake, you [can] find the Four Sword in the Dark World.

Another thing, first Shigeru Miyamoto said the OoT was first. Later, Eiji Aonuma said that FS was first. Then, he said TMC was a prequel to FS, making it first. Finally, they said SS predates it all.

  • Axle, are you not sure that this is an entire retconn of everything we've heard before? This is essentially the new, current and future reality, so their contractions shouldn't count anymore really.

  • I kinda like the idea of link's defeat, I think it makes the series a little darker with this alternate timeline with one last hero.

  • In Skyward sword, the Gate of Time in the Temple of TIme in the Lanayru Dessert was destroyed by Impa after she and Zelda went through it after finishing the 3rd dungeon, that i the only reason why i think the Temple of Time could be in the Sealed Grounds (the resting place of the master sword).

  • I also have an issue with the fact that you cannot even remember the source of the quote, and yet you say "they lied". Who lied? You don't even know. It could have been some off hand comment by someone with little substance. The book by all appearances is a concerted collaborative effort that probably has more authority than some comment some guy you don't remember said.

I think everyone is freaking out about this timeline thing waaaay to much.

  • U mad?

I think calling it a cop out is a bit much.

    a) It is completely feasible that in coming up with the concept of the games the team went "what if Link was defeated - what would happen to Hyrule then?" It's hardly different from the Link-doesn't-turn-up-so-let's-flood-the-world thing

    b) Link is defeated every time someone fails to beat Gannon. It happens. I don't like the thought, but it's an interesting concept.

  • Maybe the game that will make the entire timeline make a little sense would be a direct sequel game wise and not timeline wise would be ALTTP because its the only game that doesn't have a sequel or a prequel in the Zelda Universe. Timeline wise you could say that it does but actual game wise no. There is no reference to anything from the ALTTP Universe and there are many things that stem from that

  • I did think about the temple of time being in lanayru a bit funny at first esp when the master sword was placed in the sealed grounds. However, since they destroyed the gateway there that left the gateway at the sealed grounds. It would be logical that the temple of time may have also been moved possibly

  • @tamaraleeh

How would you move a building?

    ~Axle the Beast

  • @TheZeldaDungeon Axle you don't move a building you just rename the Sealed Grounds the Temple of Time lol

    ~L3WCore

  • @TheZeldaDungeon Axle your forgetting one thing the land of Skyloft was pulled form the forest area by Hylia (aka Zelda). So wouldn't the town of Skyloft fall where it used to be like the goddess status did and become the Hyrule castle town or the people build a new town near the Sealed Grounds and Zelda rename it the Temple of Time. It does fit with Ocarina of Time if you think about it more :p

  • @TheZeldaDungeon Also the "old" temple of time could become the arbiter grounds in the future than holds the mirror of Twilight in TP just saying it could be a possibility.

  • @TheZeldaDungeon if the master sword was kept in the sealed temple, and there was still a gate of time, they didn't "move" literally the building, there was just then a "new" Temple of Time. Does that make any sense?
