Well, it's unfortunate that the the game didn't fit your tastes. Notch has been talking about however, a way to win the game, so there's an objective whatever it may be. You also don't necessarily have to play survival, in the future there will be an adventure gamemode.

Well the creator of the game has actually said that what he's trying to do with the game is to make it fun and he thinks that an objective is nessesary for that, and that's what the purpose of adding survival mode was and hopefully soon we'll see even more. (I read that in an interview or some shit like that incase anyone cares.)

I agree with SSoH. I mean, I really like Minecraft the way it is now, but I think a leveling system would make it a lot better. Maybe, for instance, being able to choose what you improve on each level, such as more health, higher melee damage/ranged damage, bigger inventory, faster walking, etc.

But, you know, that's just me. I'm sure some people wouldn't like it if that was added.

Find and explore a cave. Just kinda snowballs from there

I know that you usually do your lets plays blind, but theres no story, and i think that it would be funner to watch if you knew what you were doing. and you said that you'd like the game more if there was a set goal, you have to make your own. whether its finding diamond, killing monsters, making your house, collecting resources, etc.
