if youve ever seen the show, "car science" you'd know this is fake. the smoke may be real, but there is a mechanism that sprays gasoline onto the tires, then ignites it with a large flame. rubber will melt before it catches fire because its melting point is lower than its flash point.

The car is running on alcohol, when he backs off excess fuel goes into the exhaust then gets back on the throttle quickly that fuel ignites and causes a backfire (in the exhaust) and setting the tires on fire. Its not setup, its just what sometimes happens with alcohol fueled cars in a burnout comp.
