Jim Cornette when he was a shy, unsure young guy who wanted to make his break as a manager in pro wrestling. The same Jim Cornette who picked up a tag team called The Midnight Express, a tennis racket and a large mouth and ego to go along with it. In later years, would help out with the development of talent in WWE, be a promoter in the indie scene as well as TNA. Today he is the executive producer of Ring Of Honor. And famous for the Dairy Queen fiasco on video too.
Wow, Mr. Cornette is nervous as fuck. I'm glad they gave him more than one chance, it would have really sucked if they had cut this great career short.
@sageeofsuccess -- This is in the 1982 year when he first began!
In 1982, promoter Jerry Jarrett made the 21-year old Cornette the manager of Sherri Martel and gave Cornette the gimmick of a rich kid turned inept manager whose clients kept firing him after one match. The most notable wrestlers in this angle were Dutch Mantell and Crusher Broomfield (who would later gain fame as The One Man Gang and Akeem, The African Dream). ( copyright wikipedia )
See what the wrestling buisiness can do to a man? Jim Cornette: calm, polite, well mannered young man. 25+ years later, he's a raving lunatic. Big fan of his though
Awesome video post. I was a huge Cornette fan from his Midnight Express days, and I always wondered what his on-screen intro to wrestling management was like.
Wow, this was wonderful! Who would have known then what he would become. I have never seen him this toned down. In all of his promos, he seems like a prime case study for the benefits of decaffeinated coffee!
Damn I loved Tennessee Wrestling!!! And I've never seen this before!!! Jim Cornette wrestling debut!!! Incredible!!! Thanks OldSchoolRasslin!!! This is awesome!!! I love Cornette!!! He deserves the WWE Hall Of Fame too!!!
WOW, thank you so much for this, I've been dying to see this since I first heard how much he's ashamed about it in his firs shoot interview, a great piece of wrestling history

Dayum. Corny so quiet and unassuming. Who knew that he would turn into probably one of the greatest talkers in the history of the business.

i saw the shoot with Cornett as well. I don't understand why he would feel ashamed about this. it's kind of a good set up to being a heel manager.
