There are wel made sportsengines.Indeed once you have the right settings,its a good engine.They are a bit heavy for competition flying,but as sportsengine ,...its a good workhorse..
I got my first P.A.W. 249 in 1958 but in those days the prop. driver used to extend back over the crankcase. Which I think was better. Was your 60s model like this?
