Padron is my arabian stallion's grandfather's grandfather's father. :) My horse's granfather's father is Padrons Psyche and my horse's grandfather is El Amin. :)
I met Padron at Midwest decades ago, at one of their big parties. Padron was taken out of his stall, stood there like, "Here I am! Adore me!" Quite the personality.
He was amazing! I love my Padron grandson hes such a powerful horse and so athletic! He is showing dressage and sport horse mainly but wins in hunter pleasure often too! You can see Padron in my boy thats for sure he truely was an amazing stallion!
This video is a perfect meld of an incredible artist, beautiful song and an amazing horse. Thank you for putting this together, I found the beach scenes breathtakingly emotional, combining the two things I love most, horses and quiet beaches. :'-) If you happen to see this, where were the beach scenes filmed? Love it, love it, love it, added to my favorites before it was even half way thru. Five stars from me to you! :-)
My best friend once took me hors back riding and i saw the most beautiful Arabian horse so i asked my friend about him and she said that the horse ( his name is Padrick ) is Padron's son!!!
While Padron was a lovely horse, and one of my favorites, Nothing can compare to Muscat. The arabian horse is an athlete. Not a drag queen. Magnum Psyche ruined the pedigree, none of that horses offspring hold any sort of athletic ability. That 'horse' looks more like a giraffe than a horse. Did the beduin people breed giraffes? No, they bred warhorses, they bred them for their spirit, intellect, stamina, and will.
Anyway... Lovely tribute, He was a wonderful horse.
@TEHFUZZEHONEZ I actually have to agree with you. I'm not a huge fan of Magnum Psyche myself. He is beautiful, but his body type is more of a fad than traditional arabian. He's not even a very pretty mover. He should never have won the Stallion Championship, much less the Supreme Championship, at Scottsdale last year. Aria Impressario should have won it all.
from where he was coming padron,or where was born .i live allmost all my life on the farm, what amezing animal are the hoses ,one time i remember i was almost kil by a horse ,but i stil like them.
Beautiful stallion, tragic although I'm glad it was natural and he was pretty old. I always love the chestnuts with the light flaxen manes. B-E-A-UTIFUL.
he is sooo beautifull i nearly cry when i watch this he was amazing its soo amazing thiss vid its on my favs may i ask where you got the clips from pleasee i love him sooo much inspiring tribute =']
wow padron is beautiful i hav a few clips of him (some are in my vidds) but how can i get these clips you said of another video but how do i do that?? please reply btw stunning video he is soo beautiful its sad he died =[
i think this video is soo cool i love this breed of horse its the oldest breed i think and this video with this song is just omg amazing i love it thanks for posting it for everyone to watch it! im lookin this horse up i liked it so much!
What a beautiful tribute. :) You have inspired me to find out more about Padron as well as Arabians in general. I am usually mostly into thoroughbreds, but this has captivated me. :)
*Padron was that kind of horse. He inspired many a current Arabian horse afficionado to find out more about Arabians. A truly spectacular breed. A foundation breed for the Thoroughbred might I add. That's why Thoroughbred's are so hot blooded.
Thank-you FireGirlG, for posting this it's just BEAUTIFUL! I will always remember my very first Arabian Nationals in '82 this is where I first Saw *PADRON I am happy too say I got too see him being Crowned U.S. Grand Champion WOW is all I can say! The Crowd was screaming at the top of their lungs!! WOW! is all I can say! My Beautiful Prince's Tarra was a Beautiful Chestnut W/flaxen mane&Tail and two hind white socks she was a Grandaughter too The REAL MCCOY! She's in heaven now w/My husband!
I own a grand get stallion, a Odyssey SC son, and looking to produce a video for Marketing Services. Thank you for your time and dedication!! Greatly Appreciated.
My horse is GA Padrons Sun. It is amazing how similar the two of them look. It's awsome owning a Padron foal. I wish I could have met Padron. He is beautiful.
He was one in a million that's for sure. I would love to own a *Padron daughter for a broodmare, but I imagine anyone who's got one won't ever want to part with her. And rightfully so. That's so cool that you have a son of his. We have a client boarding a colt she bred that's by Anza Padron, and he looks more like *Padron than he looks like Anza! He's stunning. Same blonde mane and everything.
I was so happy to find your video. Such nice work. Padron deserves all the accolades and more. I used to see him every week when my horse was in training. Padron would get p--sed off if I gave anyone a carrot before him. Later I visited him at Jabar & he was so happy & content there. I love you *PADRON. TY FireGirlG!
Brilliant! Thanks for this video. This brings back many memories for me and the days back at Midwest. I had the distinct honor of being the first person to ride Padron on the ice and snow back in the winter of 1982/83. It was funny, I just got on him and rode. If I remember correctly, I think David was a little freaked out. But he was a fearless animal with an incredible heart..magnetic if you will. I was also there for a few of those wins in the video, just great!
Wow, that's awesome. It's great to have people like you around because you have all of these memories of great moments in the Arabian horse world. And these last two decades or so have been so pivotal. Thank you for sharing your comments!
Thought I would come by and watch the vid again. I wish I could turn my arabs loose in the ocean, though they would probably just snort at the water :D
I just want to say to everyone who has commented how much I appreciate the kind words. I'm glad you've enjoyed watching the video as much as I enjoyed making it for you. Thank you again so much!
There aren't too many horses that can hold a candle to Padron. This video truly examplifies his beauty and his contribution to the arabian breed. So well done and such beautiful music, it really moved me. He will be remembered through Padron's Psyche and Magnum Psyche. Thank you creating it.
He looks so big and strong, yet graceful at the same time. Lately I have been noticing arabians are starting to get 'fragile' looking. I miss that 'big, strong, look' that horse had. I wish I could have seen him in real life :(
Oh me too. Of all the horses I've missed in the last 20 years, I wish I could have seen him, with *Sharem El Sheikh in a close second. And I totally agree with you about how arabs look nowadays. What they look like now is traditionally a more feminine look. Not too many bred for stature, at least not in the Americas. European-bred arabs are what I'm liking more and more. And most Padrons Psyche descendents are pretty stout, minus Magnum, he's kinda skinny. I adore Enzo, he's a sexy beast. lol
I noticed they aren't judging legs anymore in the Americas either. I went to nationals in 2006 and saw the horse 'LD Pistol' who ended up winning, but I thought he had horrible back legs? Judges didn't seem to notice. Don't get me wrong he was very pretty, but I am a leg person, no legs = no horse
Especially in a breeding stallion. No legs (should)= gelding. That's why I don't like Brandon Bey. He's club-footed. The worst show moment I've ever experienced was when he beat Om El Shahmaan at Region II. When Shahmaan was called Reserve, the whole crowd was dead silent, everyone assumed he'd win. I've never seen LD Pistal in person, but he looks like he's built nice, but I don't like his head, not dishy enough. I though Piaff should have been the Champion.
Piaff didn't look good at the show, I'm not sure why...he was the only horse that wan't 'fighting' his handler though so I don't think the judges like that, he didn't have the exagerated stance either (not that I mind that). I guess he just didn't stand out I think he had a bad day :(
It's because he's European, he's not as extreme as most American bred horses. They're built more solid and have much of the classic Arabian kind of pretty. I have seen him in person, and he was fabulous, so then yeah, maybe he did have a bad day. btw What show are you talking about with him, Valentino, and Anza?
They all went to the 2006 Arabian and Half-Arabian nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. It was the last time they were to have it there and since it was so close (kinda) we went back and forth all week to catch the stallion shows, breeding mare and filly shows, and a few performance classes :)
I didn't know Anza was at U.S. Nationals in 2006. And he surely wouldn't have competed with Valentino, because Anza would have been a Senior Stallion and Valentino was Junior. Are you thinking of ML Mostly Padron? He was in the Junior Stallions class with Valentino. And I've seen footage of him rearing when he entered the ring when they were announcing the Top 10.
I saw Anza Padron there too! He was beautiful but he got beat by DA Valentino (I think he has a long face and is too feminine). I was weird how the 'midwest family' who was sitting behind us at the time were like 'who is going to hold the baby when we go out there', even though it hadn't even been top 10 yet @_@
I looovvveeee Anza Padron. We've got a client boarding at our ranch who's bred a colt by Anza, he's stunning. And totally agree about Valentino, built nice, but awful head. He just doesn't do anything for for me. I've never been super fond of Midwest people, in my experience they've always come across very arrogant. It's quite sad the state of affairs in America's halter showring. The wrong horses are winning, and the horses aren't treated well. That's why those classes don't do well anymore.
They had him rearing up at the show like his daddy. The crowd really liked him and when Valentino beat him the crowd was like 'yay...' and then afterwards Anza's handler made him rear and the crowd started roaring!
Dang... Y'know, when the crowd is THAT into it, ya gotta give the people what they want! haha Especially when it's the better horse, aka Om El Shahmaan & Anza Padron. ;)
Ever heard of a horse related to Padrons Psyche called FS Ritz? We own his full brother who had went to the nationals, judges didn't even look at him because he is a little on the short side. Looks just like FS Ritz minus his size. I need to post a vid of him sometime when the weather gets better and they aren't all rolling in the mud.
Look at him play in that water! What a beautiful horse he was. At the farm where my Arab lives we've got a *Pardons Psyche son. Metro Psyche, he hasn't done much yet but boy when he does, it will be amazing.
I had the privilege of working with Padron, he was a very special animal. I emailed David Boggs (after Padron was returned to Midwest)with a Padron story, and he sent me baby pictures of Padron, which I still have.
Wonderful video...I was in Louisville, Ky when *Padron won National Champion Stallion in halter. It was quite a moment! He is my favorite Arabian stallion of all time. Thanks for making this beautiful tribute to a timeless legend in the Arabian breed.
He passed away at the age of 30, I can't remember off hand right now but I do believe it was natural causes. Age 30 for a horse is considered a great life span.
I read somewhere specifically that it was heart failure, which, at 30, is essentially natural causes. It's crazy to think a horse has been around for 30 years, y'know? We had one that was 30 or 31 and we just lost her. But she was totally healthy, except she had ring-bone in her legs. She laid down during the night, and between her level of soreness and the winter cold, she wasn't ever able to get back up. It was just her time.
Also, for those of you who are wondering about the "Honor Him" thing, that portion of the title is a play off of one of the songs used, "Honor Him" from Gladiator.
i mean i guess everyone has their own hobbies and such.. but i'm having a little bit of a hard time digesting this.. THe person below says "For the great stallion that he was, and what he contributed to his breed." What does a horse actually contribute? doesnt one have to be conscious to contribute anything to anything?
You people are reading way too much into this. He contributed to his breed with the foals he sired. He left a lasting impact on the arabian breed because of his descendants. If you're not into the arabian industry, you wouldn't very well understand.
Padron is my arabian stallion's grandfather's grandfather's father. :) My horse's granfather's father is Padrons Psyche and my horse's grandfather is El Amin. :)

Heart failure. But he was 30 years old, so I don't imagine it was totally unexpected. He had a great life, and he lived long and happy.
