  • Beautiful sound!

  • hey i have to instrumentate this piece for a wind quartet consisting of two flutees, one clarinet and one basoon... im quite new to this so anyone got any iddeas? :) Churrr bro

  • @willieandjupiter. I will light the way

  • Thiollier's tone pallet paints gorgeous and lingering sounds, indeed. And he is a real pedal artist, too. Thanks for the posting.

  • Seeehr schön!

  • Holy shit this guy is good!

  • Debussy is so brautiful.

  • good call

  • im doin it for debussy

  • I am certainly no expert when it comes to this kind of European music but Debussy is with out doubt my personal favorite. He had a lyrical sense that existed on a higher plane. He never pandered to emotions.I would like to say his works were ahead of their time but in a certain sense I think they were well ahead of ours as well.I hear echos of Debussy in the great jazz practitioners of our day like Miles Davis and Bill Evans:artists who in their own right have moved music into new horizons.

  • @bluesborn I'm so happy I'm not alone in this thought. I've always considered in my head that Davis/Evans works were the blues version of Debussy's Impressionist styling. Their music is deep in thought, and regardless of the genre create a similar feeling. To me, "Blue in Green" always stood out similarly to this piece. I don't know exactly why, but they are parallel to me. They are different entirely yet share similar periods of inner beauty and sentimentality that we all share in common

  • @Dunderhead36 -Excellent comments."Blue in green" is a beautiful composition and a very good example I think of how Debussy has influenced 20th century musicians. In fact I recently read that his works have inspired virtually every major composer of the 20th century in both the jazz and classical fields.A partial list includes Bartok,Stravinsky,Ravel,Gershwin,Ellington (another personal favorite of mine) Evans,Monk,Davis,Reich and Glass. An amazing man.

  • @bluesborn Prescient. I had a music history teacher in college--also a prominent conductor for the Ventura county, CA symphony--say that there were three truly great innovators in classical music that, rather than being derivative, initiated trends and influences, pioneer types if you will: One was Debussy, another was Bach, and another was-- I want to say Mozart, but I forget.

  • I hear really only nightcore but the song is so beautiful.

    that's great:)

  • OMG! He is like Claude Debussy and looks like him too!

  • Oddly, parts of this reminds me of sound of music...

  • Masterpiece

  • This tune is absolutely captivating. I want to... no, I MUST play this soon!

  • I hope when my life flashes before my eyes before I die that I hear this tune alongside the images.

  • I remember listening to this when I was 11...

And then.. I was like... :o

and I tried to play it on the piano.

  • Pure magic in every note... thanks for the upload!

    Lilly

  • I love the remake by Larry Clinton, Glenn Miller and Artie Shaw, and this is a really really beautiful, inspiring tune with a different feel. Very beautiful.

  • You know those songs where you stop breathing just to listen as soon as you hear the first note? That is what just happened to me. <3 <3 <3

  • Great interpretation ... one of my favorites. Fantastic piece, yes? Si si, oui oui, yes yes.....

  • I love this piece.

It just aggravates me that my friend has started to brag that she can play Debussy's hard songs, when she couldn't even learn a simple duet with me last year... =="

And I've been playing longer than her. She's just not.. xD

    Debussy. What a genius.

  • Excelletn quality fo playing. Fully reveal the soul of Impressionism!

  • I searched and i found ... thank you

  • very beautiful. and the quality is so great that I feel like the pianist is playing piano just in the same room.

  • Beautiful song, although structurally not as satisfying as most of Debussy's works.

  • i long for the days when music videos weren't littered with comments about bieber gaga cyrus and more unimportant pricks not worth mentioning

  • this is amazing!

  • 2 people like Justin Bieber

  • As expected of the Magnifique Debussy

  • The music of Claude Debussy is wonderful. Thank you for let me share this classical music. I remember the long assays of my sisters on the piano and many years ago.

    N. Wong

  • This is my recital piece!!!

  • Flawless. Perfect. Debussy would be proud.

What makes this so perfect is the pacing--just right. Not too fast, not too slow.

Best rendition of this song I have ever heard.

  • So damn beautiful. Especially 2:20 .

  • Simply fantastic. This guys a genius.

  • This may be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life. Bravo, Debussy, although that doesn't even begin to cover it.

  • sounds cool! and by the way, i saw something really good. listen to both parts of this this guy, this music is flawless. search for "freakollo" in the search tab.

  • I've looked at several different people performing this piece here on youtube, but your interpretation is definitely the best, no doubt about it.

  • Bravo!

  • Debussy is the shit!

  • @Lymphaticnessicity yeah this song is like floating on air. It's takes you to another place.

  • Anyone else feel like they're dreaming when they listen to this song? I guess that's why it's called reverie, but I still find it stunning that it has that effect...

  • i love this

  • What does Justin Bieber has to do with this song??? wierdos

  • Nous avons tant besoin de rêverie dans notre monde si marchand;Heureusement Debussy y parvient avec sa musique et nous réconcillie d'être humain...

  • That G13, C9, Fmaj progression at 2:07 is so Jazzy

  • This is amazingly beautiful - intricate, delicate, powerful stuff. Debussy was the original jazz pianist - Bill Evans was great and all, but Debussy practically invented those chord progressions, and long before jazz came around too.

  • You should see the left hand to this song...it frightens me :P

  • This guy was the man. Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown - they got nothing on Debussy. He's like.... king.

    Of the world.

  • @LikeMyFeet You can't even compare them they are a century apart. What is wrong with you?

  • @LikeMyFeet whats the point in mentioning their names??i just dont get it

  • @LikeMyFeet I so agree with you, but please, let's be ALL okay to stop talking about justin bieber in every awesome artist youtubes pages. He don't deserv it, and it's not the same kind of music.

  • @yusefesuy You can find one in free-scores (dot) com. First look for Debussy under composers and on the last page of his scores you should find Reverie for piano. Great site to get any sheet music from really.

  • This song reminds me of my childhood...how innocent and bright the world seemed to be. But now I'm older and everything is different. And through it all, I want to keep trying to rediscover my childhood, even though I know that I never will.

    But I still keep going...

  • Superb. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Anyone know where I can get this score, I've searched everywhere and have not found it. If someone could tell me or if someone is interested and you switch to another score inform me, I have a lot of great music. Thanks

  • @yusefesuy imslp.org. It has like almost every pieces that have expired their copyright period. Spread the word.

  • wonderful. <3

  • feel like in a dream...just the same as the title:)

  • Aweful! Even before the melody starts he does a ritardando!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, I never noticed how good it sounds when performed at a faster tempo. I usually play it much slower, but I'm trying that out the next time I get behind my piano. Excellently performed. You can sense the emotion put into it. =)

  • omg I adore this recording! It's fantastic!!

  • I sold my piano when I started college 4 years ago and I can't afford a new one. This just made me cry. =(

  • Along with Michelangeli, the best interpreter of Debussy I have ever heard. Just learning to play this piece and I'm taking my cues from Thiollier on this one :)

  • He looks kind of like Ricky Gervais. Great song.

  • @iamyouifyouareme oh dude yah!!!!

  • Debussy must reign above all others for his beautifully enchanting, and melancholy love music.

First Arabesque, Claire de Lune, Reverie. Legacy of musical genius

  • one of my favorits to play when i really want peace.

  • just beautiful...brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for posting :-)

  • wow every single note is made of treacle coated bel canto!

  • @monkeynailz What is "treacle coated bel canto" if I may ask? :-)

  • @scpkiko "Bel Canto" is the singing quality of the piano. "Treacle coated" is monkeynailz taking some poetic liberty :)

  • @monkeynailz Ah thanks for the info mate :)

  • I love Debussy, is the best. I love the scene that he made with his sound, simple and perfect.

  • Him and Mark Bellison kind of look alike.

    Beautiful song.

  • It is so beautiful... He is perfect player for playing Debussy.

  • This version is just perfect, I didn't find any better....that's totally beautiful :)

  • It really is :)

  • @nombrill Jean-Yves Thibaudet plays Debussy Reverie

  • Thiollier has to be my favorite interpreter of Debussy's piano pieces.

  • Que bello tema, muchas gracias...

  • Thank you for sharing. I own this CD : ). It's impeccable indeed.

  • Lovely:) TY for posting this.

  • You're welcome :)
