My son and his girlfriend were exploring the woodland in the Pigeon Valley near Uchisar, in Turkey when they came upon an old man sitting with his dogs by an open fire (sounds like a fairy tale - doesn't it!) listening to an old transistor radio.
He called them over for a cuppa and my son exclaimed - "You are listening to Richard Thompson! My dad will be really chuffed when I tell him!"
In another concert, he sang "she was humming Suspicion, thats the song she liked best"; in this, its "...and she sang Love Me Tender...". Wonder if he changes the Elvis every time?
@fatbill717 Not the greatest recording on this video I grant you.I haven't heard Sean Keanes version but I'm sure it is good. Most of the world is oblivious to Richard Thompson and his songwriting and musical ability.Their loss.
Just the story teller, his guitar, and his audience. Thanks for the video.

....and he was!
Anyone else heard him in unlikely places?

Always chokes me up - this one - how does he skate just the right side of sentimentality?
He's my main man!

@donrocin Maybe it dawned on him that "Suspicion" was not Elvis, it was an Elvis sound alike one hit wonder named Terry Stafford,.

Richard Thompson live...magnificent.
He wrote it and no one sings it better.

@oldfolker2 I prefer Sean Keane's version, to be honest.
But where would music be without Richard?

Wow. Great. I've seen him 7 or 8 times, but he's never played this.
