Back then we did not have air conditioning in the family Ford station wagon, so every window was open during the summer and I can close my eyes and hear this song blasting on the radio and nobody in the car ever said a word, you just listened............Live is short, we wish for the weekend and wish for summer and we wish our lives away.
We of the 60's....know and knew what they are saying....We all lived it! Some didn't come through it.............. they are Forever young! We had our Iraq...... we lost so many!
Still have the 45...having grown up in foster care, children's homes and so forth, moving city to city, changing schools one after another, losing friends, gaining new ones, always moving while wanting stillness...this song helped me reflect on things that were happening at that moment... the lyrics gave me hope, brought me tears of sadness and joy. At 50 they still do. There is nothing more complete than crying tears of joy and sorrow at the same time. WOW!
live in the studio, yeah baby! but was the orchestra live in the room or, more likely, on tape? at the time i thought this was a pretty good pop song, not great but somewhat compelling slightly Bee Gees influenced but not like a group I would rush out to get the album and so on. NOW out sounds like pop genius of high order. the standards were so high we took it for granted. great video post!
@denverexec2000 Hi There, Jnr Campbell lead guitarist & co writer. Answered way back in a previous comment. That all of this is "Live" There's an orchestra at the side to the left, you can just see the conductor's baton at the start. Hope this helps!
This is the one song that has been with me through 40 years of my life. Its still as fresh as the day it was released and always there to remind me how good those days were.
Reflections of the 70's.... we had long hair, wore bell bottoms, the chicks wore halter tops, no shoes, fast cars, 8 track tapes, greatest music ever, we would do anything to go up down or side ways, we loved our country, and respected each other. Old hippies and 70's rock will last forever in my reflections! Thanks for a great memory song.
the world is a BAD place to live , but i don´t wanna die. IS fantastic.. AQUI EN PERU SONO DESDE MI NIÑEZ. mess amis, Elisa, Mary Carmen, Zoilita, muaaaa.
One of th great songs of the late 60's... It shows, among other things, what Rock can be, and has been, capable of. A short masterwork. And the unusual vocals only add to the song's intensity.
Listening yet again, despite so many previous listenings! Just the best, wee sadness that Junior's incredibly beautiful 'talking guitar' isn't in this, but hey, enjoy this live performance then dig into many more helpings from the highly versatile Marmalade who do so many kinds of music so very well. The guys are amongst the best, for all time!
I could never understand how they could leave out the GUITAR SOLO it makes the song. Of course THE GREAT DEAN FORD really makes the group. This latter day bunch SUCKS
@THEMOJOMANsince1959 Junior Campbell responded way back on this thread in answer to this, he had to re-arrange the song to fit the "Live" time slot for the show. it was filmed in the South of France. Hope this helps!
@QUILIGOTTI1 They will probably be singing stuff from the 60's and 70's that they heard at their Grandparents'. Notice how much material from this marvelous era is covered on Glee or Idol-type shows.
@MusicMadMaurice Todays kids later will be singing the crap that's popular today,,jumping around "grabbing their crotch" "tapping their chest with two fingers near their heart,,whatever that means" "wearing yellow or red tennis shoes" with lyrics like "shoot the man" "rob the liquor store" "steal mom's SS check" and wearing real loose sloppy clothes to cover their FAT.
I saw them live in Glasgow when they were called Dean Ford And The Gaylords. They were really good. Dean Ford is a really good live singer and Junior Campbell went on to write some good songs.

One of the best songs played on the now cancelled tv series "Men of a certain age". Wish that series was still on. They played some great songs on that show.
I absolutely loved this song when I was 14 and I've found it again and still love it. This song is the anthem of my generation! I watch this video every day. Junior Campbell and Dean Ford - you are brilliant songwriters. Marmalade - great musicians. Thanks so much!

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God! I searched for one song - United We Stand Divided We Fall and fell into a myriad of reflections of my teen years. Amazing how the words come right back after so many years. I'm changing everything around me - again. Already I've seen over a dozen songs that I want to copy and I'm sure I'll find more as I move to each new page. Thanks to all the uploaders!!
Maybe that's the part that says "the world is a bad place, a bad place, a terrible place to live". But i'm not sure. :D jeje in any form IS A GOOD SONG!!! :D
I always wondered why so many people go on about the 1960s and I think the answer lies in music like this. To get anywhere in those days one had to have talent and really be able to sing. Today it's all electronics and karaoke type rubbish where even the worst of singers can sound good with the right electronics and producers.
The song "Reflections of My Life" was a hit single by the Scottish band, Marmalade, in 1969, with sales continuing into the early 70's. That would actually place it in the late 60's, early 70's, music era.

I SAID A JERKOFF!! THESE SONG TOUCHES THE HEART OF ME AND THOSE THAT LOVE THIS GROUP!! YOU DONT LIKE IT? FUCK YOU! DONT LIKE THE GROUP FUCK YOU!!! JUST FUCKING F. U. C. K YOU!!!! GOD BLESS!!! MARMALADE!!!
Very close between this and Toast and Marmalade for their best song: the first lp ran th gamut from Bee Gees (obvious) to latter day Monkees to the Beatles.Very moving stuff
Oh, how I love this classic old song. To my dear youtube friend Kirk (porkchop1verizon) who introduced it to me: I love and miss you. May your sweet soul be at peace and rest.
Brings me back also to the best years of my life although I didn't know it at the time! Remarkable song still love it,makes me thinks!
