@DCShoesSkater Yeah you're right, I believe he was invited to a camp, but never played in the OHL. My mistake people, but to be fair it wasn't only I who made that mistake.
what are some good exercises or drills that I could do to improve my quickness. For example what can I do increase my glove and blocker quickness and also what drills or exercises can I do to increase the speed in which i go down into the butterfly?
Well its extremely important you develope your leg muscles. What really helped me in increase movement quickness, and all around better leg movements was doing tons of Squats, and Lunges.. I do about 100 squats with 20 lbs, and 80 lunges, with 20 lbs .. every 2-3 days. Make sure to constantly stretch also so that you don't loose your flexibility.
good vid, one thing, then you do standing t-push, should´nt you have your stickglove infront of you? instead of the side of the pad. because when you have the glove on the side of the pad, that makes the stick move around away from your fifth hole. my goalietrainer told me that, whats your opinion?
when you do that u risk comprimising your blocker side high. i like to try to keep the five hole closed on the post and the stick sitting in front for extra protection.
Overdrive is an add-on used for goalie skates that helps your lateral movement from side to side. You just get that much more when using the backside push demonstrated in the video ;)
Awesome. This helps out a lot. I am more hybrid and the back door is always open when passed out to the slot. Slide out to the shooter). I will definitely slide through he middle of the crease.
Any chance of 4 of 4 being posted.
Anyway to download this so I will always have it for reference.
This video helped me a lot for Butterfly, but i saw some vids about slide boards... I was just wondering if they work in improving you're butterfly slide, and where i can buy them if they do
i love this man thanks alot, im 17 and just startin out, these improvements mean alot to me, ive been lookin at nhl goalie vids for support then i found this and its been great learning new moves for my game thanks!
Excuse me man, but I think you're sadly mistaken. Corey Wogtech is an OHL goaltender and is very experienced. Whilst asking questions when you may not understand aspects of the video is fine, running your mouth because you don't understand aspects of it, is not.
To prunn: Why the snarky criticism? If you've read any of the replies, you can see how much help this has been for people. It's answered many basic questions about burrterfly sliding and other angle considerations for beginner to intermediate goalies. Take a pill, man.
One question though, and maybe someone watching this can help me.
Im good down low and my Glove hands not a problem. But my stick/blocker is horrible. I find myself making ridiculous gloves saves across my body on my right(stick). Whats a good stick/blocker training? that I can do without a shotter.
Well it depends on what needs working on. If you're seeing the puck, and you're just having trouble getting that blocker out then I've got a solution for you. One thing is doing weights to build up the strength in your arms. Secondly, find an open space and put on your glove, blocker, and stick and practice swinging your blocker. Start of in your stance and imagine a game situation. Throw the blocker in the way as if a shot's coming. Start of with about 30 good ones and build on that.
@5hahv1r1 but he could be better if he uses his glove better

I like the guys drilling the OHL goalie, when i bet they are all fat asses who played bantam goalie and didn't make the A team. Sad loosers.
I don't think any of you get payed to play hockey like he does, so SHUT THE FUCK UP. He's an excellent goaltender and these videos are excellent.

Thats with out overdrive. I can tell you that much.

Lol, when the NHL banned overdrive, it was banned pretty much everywhere. If thermablades are allowed, I don't see why overdrives aren't.
Oh yeah, Gretzky was behind them :/
