Paranoia Agent had a twisted ending, but it was great, only when you watch every episode you can put the pieces together that they give you to fully appreciate a great work of art. Lain isn't something that can be explain, not to me anyways, it's the type of anime that you must experience by watching. I tried explaining Lain to my niece and was baffle at the lost of words.

the "experiments" in serial experiments lain is because lain was an experimental program and the word "serial" is a port on the computer to input data into or out of like usb. Small touches like that are abundant in lain, one of its best characteristics. im watching Texhnolyze now but i just cant seem to shake the feeling that i would rather be watching lain.

I think lain does a good job on describing what humanity is actually like. One episode I liked was the one about aliens, it was surprising the alien came to visit her... first time I saw her scared enough to huddle in a corner. The other was when the poser god tangled up that one girl and I wondered why she was scared O_O
This is probably the only anime that can make confusing the shit out of its audiences a good thing. If I understood what the hell was happening half the time, I doubt it would be anywhere near as good. The overly complex plot is just what makes Lain....Lain.

@PrinceTheRipperBel7 It's one of my fav anime of all time but I'll warn you that it's pretty abstract. I know a lot of ppl who couldn't get into it because it's hard to follow at times.
I never really understood this show. All I know is every time I watch it, always form start to end, I'm always depressed by the end. NieA_7 seemed cute and Haibane Renmei made sad but thoughtful... but Lain always just made me confused and depressed. I still love it, but that's why I don't watch it very often.
This requires a great deal of mental investment as it's one of those extremely hardcore Japanese mindfuck animes, like Evangelion or Boogie Pop Phantom, and it's definitely not for the faint of heart if you dislike cryptic and sometimes unbelievably confusing plot elements.
It's kind of bad in how schizophrenic it's pacing is, and how confusingly it presents itself.
But it's also good because if you can handle all that, it's an incredibly smart cartoon
@Narcissist245 the art style is made to go along with the presentation of the anime. Should the makers have used a more common technique then the whole feel of the anime would change.

the main character in this series is soo deceiving, a cute 13 year old girl, but watch out, piss her off and she'll erase your entire existence. It was a weird anime but the concept was pretty great.
one of the things that i liked about this show was that a lot of old tv shows predicted outlandish technology for the future, but this show actually got one thing right. they knew there would be texting.
Its creepy, its hard to understand, its old, its short, its depressing, its not entertaining, its like a college textbook, its hell. And even now I cant figure out why I like Lain so much. Maybe I'll just say it has a magic of its own.

True. Most Lain fans are tame compared to most other animes. Most of the "rabid" anime fans avoid this series because it's really a thinking anime and most don't want to put the time into thinking about the deeper meanings.
I love psychological animes but idk about Lain, it freaks me out, with the cold look in her eyes at 1:15 and 1:20 as well as the "Present day, Present time!" thing.

Lain have a very complex story and can be a little confuse if you don't pay attention.
Go watch Naruto or some Shōnen if you Want happy ending stories and "feel good" sensation.

I never really understood this show. All I know is every time I watch it, always form start to end, I'm always depressed by the end. NieA_7 seemed cute and Haibane Renmei made sad but thoughtful... but Lain always just made me confused and depressed. I still love it, but that's why I don't watch it very often.

This requires a great deal of mental investment as it's one of those extremely hardcore Japanese mindfuck animes, like Evangelion or Boogie Pop Phantom, and it's definitely not for the faint of heart if you dislike cryptic and sometimes unbelievably confusing plot elements.
It's kind of bad in how schizophrenic it's pacing is, and how confusingly it presents itself.
But it's also good because if you can handle all that, it's an incredibly smart cartoon

@RobotMice Never really got into it but basically, the main character Lain is a 12 year old girl who has psychic powers and is able to use them through the web. Can't spoil too much though, kind of a weird anime for my tastes. I like Texnolyze much better.

the main character in this series is soo deceiving, a cute 13 year old girl, but watch out, piss her off and she'll erase your entire existence. It was a weird anime but the concept was pretty great.

one of the things that i liked about this show was that a lot of old tv shows predicted outlandish technology for the future, but this show actually got one thing right. they knew there would be texting.

I was wondering... o.o; There was a forum created-based on a Jisatsu Circle, there are lots of 'websites' based on Jigoku Tsushin from Jigoku Shoujo, but there is nothing based on Wired... Which means it can't be done because there are no mad fans. Am I right? Am I wrong?
(by "mad" I mean a huge fanservice which doesn't exactly mean I have something against fanservices).

True. Most Lain fans are tame compared to most other animes. Most of the "rabid" anime fans avoid this series because it's really a thinking anime and most don't want to put the time into thinking about the deeper meanings.

It is a REALLY complex anime about a girl who has special abilities in the network world called Wired.She tries to find out what she is.
You can watch this anime but the opening music is the best part of it. X D
