This is pathetic. and why does the rating screen say refer to an R rating fro Strong Sexuality and Nudity? If anyone directs this it should be Ed Zwick.
With Sheen or Duvall as Lee, Barry Pepper as Chamberlain, Ewan McGregor as Stuart and Josh Brolin as Longstreet, Aiden Quinn as Grant and Ed Harris as Sherman. No long damn monologues. Joaquin Phoenix as Booth, Liam Neeson as Lincoln. this could be a good movie if done right.
Use reenactors but also the Massive Program for big battles

The book was really well done, he had good insight into the thoughts of Lee and Grant. The trilogy needs to be filled out to complete the full story. Yes shame on the video maker for mocking what so many men died for. A miniseries done by Spielberg would be awesome although I doubt it is getting made. Battle of the wilderness and cold harbor would be the two they should include since you can't fit every battle in a 2 1/2 hour movie.
First let me say that I lost my dad Christmas Eve of 2009 to a heart attack. This video will have a special place in my heart forever because my dad is in it. At 39 to 40 secs into it. He is the man with the white beard standing in the middle of the three men in the scene. If you have ever watched the movie Gettysburg that clip is from chapter 18 on the dvd.
@loveyou3469 sorry for your loss, He was one of the prisoners who spoke with Tom Chamberlain?(in the film) A memorable scene from the film and the book. Even though your father had no lines, his expression spoke volumes. He did a great job. It's hard for inexperienced actors to not "overact" but when you just stand there defiantly, it is good acting.
well, Gods and Generals was a horrible movie...except for the surprise attack near Chancellorville close to the end. Oh but then kill the movie with the overacting and death of General Jackson. Look, i thought "Gettysburg" was great. "Gods and Generals" was like Gettysburg times a thousand. Not so terrific.
"Filming of The Last Full Measure, a movie based on the novel was scheduled to begin in 2010, starring Robert Duvall, Bruce Willis, and Morgan Freeman."
my understanding, speaking to someone who took part in both movies, is that the rights were sold to Ron Maxwell. There is some sort of disagreement between him and Jeff Shaara over something so it is on hold, probably for good unless they can come to some sort of agreement....
I spoke to a rep. of Ted Turner and she stated that there will be no Last full Measure movie made. He gave up on the movie business. Somebody has to come out with the 3rd. movie. Sherman's March would be awesome on the big screen. Lets all petition hollywood to for once come out with a historicaly accurate Civil War Movie!
no its true at the end of gods and generals they say in history :1st gods and generals ,2nd gettysburg ,3rd last full measure ,so its a trilogy and yes they said it to in gods and generals ,hope it comes out soon xd!
I'm a Civil War reenactor and I've been told that our battalion was asked to participate this summer in a mini-series for HBO based on this book. The plan is that this mini-series will be like Band of Brother and The Pacific and will be directed by Steven Spielberg. I hope I will be able to participate in it!
Last I heard that after the box office failure of Gods and Generals Ted Turner sold the rights to Last Full Measure and there were no plans to make it into a movie god I hope that someone is going to make this movie.
@CambaLopez no, it is not true. Turner will not support Ron Maxwell on any new venture. If this is made it would have to be totally new. It should be made, the question is, who owns the rights? Dreamworks (spielberg ) is making "Lincoln" If this is made it should be Clint Eastwood (Flags of our Fathers) or Ed Zwick(Glory)
Just keep it away from the Brothers' Scott (Ridley and Tony)
I hope Warner Bros does make the film in 2013
