  • Nice cabaret dance. From the title of this video, I was surely dissapointed.

  • She is mixing Tribal and Cabaret. Great dancer. Would like to have seen more emotion in the face. But I totally enjoyed this video. Thanks for posting.

  • yea dude shes not that good period. take some ballet lessons

  • Who care if it was tribal or not, She was great... I LOVED HER PERFORMANCE AND SO DID EVERYONE THAT WAS THERE AND WHO WATCHES THIS VIDEO

    !!!

  • Personnaly I see a mix of Tribal and Cabaret. Tribal does not have to be slow necessarly. Her backbends were amazing but the floorwork was sloppy at a time. Very good work with the cills it's not easy to keep a good pose with them. Very entrertaining and inspiring to watch. Another thing: watch your crowd!!! You are there for them, not to see your own belly

  • I love Urbina

  • Wow her technique is really good. With the exception of her shoulders and arms, It is crucial to incorporate them in this style of dance. Because I took the time to watch, here is my simple feed back..not to bash the dancer she doesn't deserve that.

  • Cabaret

  • This is horrifying.

  • That's a nice dance and youre a really good dancer, but it isn't tribal. In my personal view, in your dance is impossible to find enough stuff to call it Tribal. Just as Bellylou1987 and Rosereddoll have explained in their commentaries. :)

  • SUPER SUPER bukadar

  • really good style..

  • The hands to me are a bit lazy

  • I don't think there's any one kind of tribal belly dance, I don't believe everyone must look identical to Rachel Brice to be dancing tribal. This tribal style leaves room for different emotions, and a big smile :) What does tribal really mean!

  • I think it was a mix of both, tribal belly dance

  • I thought her dance was a hybrid 'tween tribal and cabaret.

  • If you are still adamant about calling her dance "not tribal," go ahead, as the term tribal denotes more than 1 person and since she is solo, she can't be tribal, but she is by no means cabaret!

  • very good, but it's not tribal, even the music is cabaret...

    very good though :)

  • I agree, not tribal, nor even tribal fusion. But good technique.

  • beautiful arm postures when bending back.. you're a beautiful dancer :)

  • You are a very spirited dancer :-) Can you tell me the name of this song?!

  • tribal in america has turned into a hiphopish snakey rolling of tummies thing. tribal in the rest of the middle east where bellydance started is way different.i guess if we are giving a critique of her not labeling her video of what type of bellydance, great... but she seemsto now how to move.

i tend to like traditional bellydance styles myself from all the oldies to the newer american caberet style. i will say i also like a few tribal performers i have seen such as rachel brice.

  • @julspower American Tribal Style is Fat Chance Belly Dance or Gypsie Caravan, not Rachel Brice. Rachel is Tribal Fusion, a mix of tribal and cabaret. If you like her stuff and cabaret stuff, you probably won't like ATS.

  • @TribalDncrFatin I like all kinds of dance. im a dance enthusiast. being from a country where bellydance was my first type of music and dance i learned, i think i formed opinions as to which type of it i prefer. i dont consider tribal style that much as bellydance but more dance and performance. some of the girls fuse lots of shimmies and layering that make it more appealing to me as "bellydance".

which ever type it is... or who's claiming it.... i like DANCE.

  • Yareli's technique is wonderful. If you must wear a serious face look at your audience girl. look at yourself in the mirror while practicing. Elbows up and back and I'd say amazing! Lovely in fact.

  • the technique is very good but its just that tribal is very heart felt and serious but as im noticing, this music she is using isnt even tribal so if shes dancing normal she needs more facial exp. but if she tribal bellydancing she has the wron music and the wrong facial expresions.....it would come out perfect if she got the music right and the face......but very good...

    p.s.

although you may have good moves, the eyes and the face is what captures the audience

  • @BFig101 what exactly is tribal music? Why can't she dance tribal style to a song with a cabaret feel to it? Why can't people dance hip hop moves to country songs? What is the right music to dance to?

As far as her face, her serious facial expression could be done on purpose. It makes the moments she smiles that much more noticeable. The tribal dance troupes I've danced with and am friends with usually keep serious faces.

  • Beautiful "Snake-Dance" ;-)

  • I love Yareli! so sultry and snaky and full of awesomeness!!!

  • I'm pretty sure she can dance to whatever kind of music she wants in any way she wants....that is what art and expression are all about. If she wanted to she could jump up and down while wearing a bear costume while playing Arabic music. It is also our freedom of expression to comment on it.

  • Very beautiful dancing. Thank you for sharing your talent. It was a pleasure to watch.

  • sorry, but you CAN'T dance tribal fusion on original arabic music..!!!

  • rachel does, tribal is set apart from others on the posture and arms..... if you watch jillina dance to arabic music and then watch rachel at cairo caravan 09 um theres a big difference and its fucking awesome!!!!

  • I don't know. it seems to me that this is a thing of cultures. but I think the most european people, especially those, who learned the original classic Raqs Shraki( egyptian bellydance) would never, never, never, never, never dance on classic arabian music an other type of dance! it's like you would would dance classic ballet on hiphop music. it doesn't fit.

  • I would love to see someone dance classic ballet to hip hop music. I think that would be amazing.

  • that means, even if she does dance tribal fusion on original folklore musik ( also on turkish and greec), that doesn't mean that this is correct, and that the people who come and live in those countrys are happy about that. I mean tribal and tribal fusion are fusion of so many dances. so one should dance on fusion musik (even if it sounds a bit like arabic, etc). but should never ever dance on the originals!!!

  • Sorry, between the first and the second comment comes:

. it's not possible. And yeah, rachel brice might be great, and the best, etc, but she is not influenced und grown up by the origin egyptian dance and philosophie.

  • Does anyone know the name of this song and who it's by?

  • u can hear all of the animals and monkeys especially in the audience making noises.Little do they know it not about sex.

  • you are soo wrong !!! they are cheering her and show to her dance appraciation not seat just silnet.. how dare you call people animals?? how dare you you to decide WHY they cheer? it is YOU decided that they make noises beucae for thme it is about sex.. it seems abiout sex FOR YOU. you are one here who brought it up..

omg... time to become an adult for you and travle little bit to see people and learn life and world

  • @GreekGoddessCaleena...*sigh*...this aint brain surgery....I didnt say she was egotistical, you read that into my comment. And, honestly, if you think I am banging on her, leave this "argument" or whatever you think is going on between Yareli and I, alone, please. Yareli and I have already spoken to each other on this topic and the matter has been taken care of-a LONG time ago...ancient history...quit beating a dead horse...etc..etc..ad nauseum...etc...

  • WAUUU Bailas MUY BIEN!!!!!!!

  • this is really good =)

looks almost egyptian style tho, maybe just the pace or something. it doesnt seem very tribal. but that's just me haha

  • i lov her! she is soso good, veryvery talented! good-looking! glad, she doesnt smile all the time!

fantastic movements! yes, it is not tribal. yes, work on arms, very important. the rest is good! i see a huge potential - go on learning and this girl can, in 5 years or so, be the new rachel.

and this is the comment of an absolut fanatic rachel-fan!

  • Ok, I FINALLY found it...darn YouTube...might just be me.

Great dance, Yareli. And great job dancing with a bun in the oven-not easy for most.

  • Sorry, tried looking for the dance you listed and cannot find it.

Glad you feel you are a great teacher. I just hope you NEVER stop learning, taking in new information and refining your techniques. That is the successful hallmark of a good student and a great teacher...Grasshoppa'...LOL ;D

  • I agree with many of the comments for improvement for her dance-HOWEVER, I would definitely like to say that she did do some good work, too. And, it takes guts to get up and perform on stage.

I have bellydanced for about 9 1/2 years and get asked to teach. I DONT. Because I still believe that I have not danced long enough (and studied enough) to do so. There is a reason that many of the great dancers wait to become teachers. I would advise this young lady to be a willing student for now.

  • i have improved in my dancing skills.. and I KNOW im a great teacher. Thankx :P

Check out my pregnant performance "Pregnant alien bellydancer" <<seach it !! hope you guys enjoy!!

  • @skeletonmom Whi is this SNOT gobbling asshole who is dictating who can teach or not?? Im one of her students and she is a kick ass teacher!!!!! Dont hate!

  • GreekGoddess-giving advice is not hating...however, calling someone a snot gobbling asshole is.

Yureli Urbina and I have spoken since my comment and have had a lovely conversation. She is a good spirited soul and her ego is not so big that she cannot listen to others opinions graciously.

  • @skeletonmom Snot gobbling asshole....ok. Fair enough. But one minute your suggesting she is egotistical for teaching? But then you say "her ego is not so big that she cannot listen to others opin ions graciously." It seems like your flip flopping in your opinion. Before you post, think about how you feel. And she is a lifelong dancer, so her age doesnt matter. She's an adult being treated like a kid!

  • I disagree that smiling all the time is such a necissity. I don't do it myself because honestly my lip twitches so much that what's the point. I do give a few honest smiles during my dances, and make up for the lack of smiles with eye contact which I feel goes a long way. I enjoyed her spins and her arm movements right before the drop @ the 3:30 mark. :)

  • Aww quit beating up on the poor kid.. sh is good and might be nervous and the audience seems o be enjoying it.. Jeeze!

  • This looks more like Turkish Belly Dancing rather than Tribal. The music is all wrong!!! If you are going to have tribal music, it needs to sound different. Work more on the tribal dancing if that is what you are doing.

  • I liked the dance but her posture is awful. I can't believe she has suck horrendous posture and arm movements and she's a teacher too! More practice please.

  • A roupa ate parece tribal... pareeece!

e a dança ta loooonge viu!!

    marmota!!

  • It´s not Tribal. She looks really fed up!

  • Technically quite good but there was no charisma and no connection with the audience, possibly because, like misslane13 mentioned, she constantly looked at the floor and didnt really engage her audience.

  • amazing backbend

  • Refreshing and energizing.

It looked like you had taken the best of all styles.

    I liked :)

  • not "tribal fusion" by generally understood "standards" but still really nice. like others said, some of the arm positions are tribal

and i tend to agree that tribal could use a bit more hip, these days alot of fusion is all in the arms

  • Wait, is she really an instructor? Aww maaan, now I see what ur saying...

  • Misleading, yes, but I liked the choreo.Though I'm no expert by any means, and I'm still a newbie but personally, I think tribal in general could do with a few more shimmies (only IMHO, so *please* don't attack me) and it was a bit cabaret but it is 'belly dance' after all. The only negative thing I will say is that in the first half she was doing a kind of t-rex thing with her arms lol. My taste runs more towards cabaret (and who doesn't love those BD's from the 70s) but really she wasn't bad.

  • I don´t see it as american tribal style or fusion , but its still lovely =)

  • the choreography and her movements were very lovely but as a belly dancer myself...the things i didn't like about her performance were her arms, she could definitely improve that and also she was constantly looking to the floor

  • I think this was a lovely performance, though the title is misleading... I enjoyed the Cabaret dance mixed with the more egyptian/tribal costume. People have a right to be unique. But I agree about the title being misleading... this performance was for sure more Cabaret than anything else. The only tribal move I really pulled out of the video was the Turkish Drop (which was flawless... btw) Great dancer!

  • I agree. When she first started she had a series of locks that were Tribal-esque and she holds her arms more like some Tribal fusion dancers, but for the most part the rest of the dance was Cabaret style. There's certainly nothing wrong with that - it was a great dance & I enjoyed it, but I concur that it's misleading to describe it as a Tribal dance (maybe Tribal-inspired is more appropriate?).

  • Such talent! I see a real fusion here: Egyptian, Tribal, Cabaret... I wish you all the best (my dancing days are over).

  • I think this is would likely fall into a fusion dance, obviously grounded in cabaret, but some of the arm positions don't fit cabaret or tribal purely. Can anyone speak from the East Coast Tribal side (which I know to be different from the original Tribal style, but know nothing more of it), is this maybe some variation?

  • What's the name of the song??? I love it!!

  • Completely in agreement, fodder q is a merger belly dance tribal, with mas of belly dance porsupuesto .. but it(he,she) does not remove itself him q dances well ... for the near(next) one learn mas for q do not commit these mistakes.

  • Definitely not what I expected to watch. Not tribal fusion at all.

  • not TRIBAL ¬¬ daaahhh

  • Yeah i agree if you cant tell its not American Tribal style Belly but its looks alittle spanish if ya ask me

  • nice

  • That was not tribal, just because you wear tribal clothes (partially) doesnt mean it's tribal trust me.

I am a tribal bellydancer and by the looks of not only the position of your hands but also the fact that you are dancing too fast and that there is nothing snaky about you, I can surely tell you that is was definitely not tribal.

You are a great dancer but you are cabaret...

  • @bellylou1987 Not quite cabaret. Dancing fast or slow has nothing to do with tribal or cabaret, there are slow cabaret dances and fast tribal dances. Being an

ATS, cabaret and tribal fusion student, I speak from my experience (dancing since 1985). Snaky does not denote style, it is a dance step accentuation! What this is, is a perfect example of what Rachel Brice brought to belly dance.

    (Continued above)

  • zabrdst!!

  • she's got awesome core control! but yeah, smile a bit more!

  • shes really qood, but i think ill b another one to criticize her arms position and her serious face.i might not b an xpert tribal bellydancer, but i do knoe a lot about bellydance. I've been bellydancing for 5yrs, but i never tried tribal bellydance. Tribal bellydance has different styles & I think thats why her arms position are not as they r "suppose" to be. and about the serious face. you look mad, when you r tryinq to entertain people you should always smile. but other then that your Good!

  • awesome outfit, esp the bottom when it spins, very intricate love it

  • A lot of people are critiscizing her arm positioning, and i just want to say that so what if she's not traditional. I love the way she holds her arms. It looks sooo sexy. And she doesn't look boring to me at all. I get the vibe that she is totally into her dancing. Besides i don't care for the big cheesy pasted on smiles anyways. This girl is REAL and doing her own thing and looks AWESOME!!! I admire her. She is by far my FAVORITE, as well as my boyfriends. Please add more videos!

  • They are not criticizing her positions to be mean. This was described as a tribal belly dance and it's clearly not tribal. From the arm positions, the speed and the general feel of the dance you can tell it's cabaret--not tribal. It's a good dance, it was fun to watch and she's a good dancer, but it wasn't what people were expecting when they clicked on the video. A tribal costume doesn't make a tribal performance. She's talented though. ^__^ Maybe someone mislabeled this particular performance.

  • @rosereddoll (cont from below) This is tribal fusion. ATS, while a great genre for talented dancers, is boring to the general population who cannot understand the intracasies of following in an improv piece. It is onlly fully appreciated by other dancers. Cabaret has not done a good job of pulling itself out of the stigma of being a stripper dance and it still looked down upon by the general public. However, bringing the two dance forms together, brought new life to each of them.

    cont abv

  • @TribalDncrFatin I don't consider this "Tribal Fusion", because there is no tribal. There is no earthy feel, no looming presence and the movements, while lovely, are not typically tribal. And what would be the other dance style she is fusing?

When I search for "Tribal" or "Tribal Fusion" most of the dances do not look like this. Either everyone else is wrong and she's right, or the title is not accurate.

There is nothing wrong with her dance, it's great, the video is just mislabeled.

  • that's right, that's not tribal, and i think she can do better, smiling and really feeling the song can help!...less mind and thinking or may i say counting!.

  • so.. can anyone tell the name of the song? please?

  • DIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM

  • That's not tribal...

  • I agree.

  • vc tem ótimo quadril mas deveria trabalhar mais os braços bjus

  • I think that this dancer still has a lot to learn. Watching this video I have a hard time believing that she could be an instructor?!? Her arm movements are awkward at best, coming out of turns is sketchy, her exit isn't professional, and she constantly messes with her hair. To give credit though.. I did like the turkish drop she did. I just think a few more lessons could do this dancer some good.

  • she's pretty good ! I love her style ! But I still think that Didem's one of the best:)

  • She truly has very high skills, I am a dancer too but I really admire her naturalness. I think improvisation is always better than choreography.

  • i think it was an improv...

the first moves are "burnt"to memory, but then

it would be hard an unnecessary to memorize

all, plus it would be harder with zills.

    (believe,it's not that easy)

BUT i don't think anyone would be bored, because her style is enjoyable and she is highly skilled.

i like the big and not tight/fast hip movements when walk, they are like Rachel Brice's "shimmy walk"

i do not compare everyone to her,but this performer makes me think about her.

    NICE!

  • uhh sorry i again forgot to sing out and in

    as me...

so it was Ann-onymus who admitted it:P

  • I loved this, movements are so natural, & flowing... :)

  • Wow, that was awesome :)

  • linda linda linda!

    parabéns!

  • Awesome. Its simple but looks amazing!

    ^_^

    I love her belt too.

  • verrry nice =)

  • please can u say me the song's name? thanks a lot ^^!

  • An exciting performance. And your hair is just gorgeous.

  • she is smiling. just cause your teeth arent showing doesnt mean your not smiling

  • wow she is really good

  • oh lalaa comen el assure jaimerai bougé comme ca

  • Those pants are KickAce. I wish I had some good hips it just doesn't have the same effect with me.

  • girl u can move ya hips.. but ur arms look uncoordinated and all over the place like u didn t knwo what to do.. good tho

  • i totally agree, her elbows were way too close to her body, it just ruins the overall impression

  • Lovely.. but it looks more cabaret than tribal. Most of the movements seem to be egyptian and turkish. Is this more Tribal Fusion?

  • aside from tribal-style belt, hair in face, music choice and movements are definitely more cabaret style. nice dancing regardless...

  • yes i totally agree most of the moves are cabaret style... but indeed is very nice!!! good job! congrats

  • Awesome! <3

  • I think my favourite thing about this is how she made it look so EASY! She never once looked puffed, or like she had to concentrate to hard. So relaxed and calm and easy. Damn her lol. Also I thought the movements she did on her knees were great, the same ones you can do easily standing but given a different aspect on her knees.x

  • Everyone is a critic on youtube, I agree.Sheesh. So what if her "tribal" costume doesn't match the "Lebanese" music. She did good and every dancer no matter how good you are, has their own things they need to improve on. Good job girl!

  • me encanta ^^ genial, simplemente, genial

  • Yareli, I love your dance, I really like your job, your technique, YOu ARE AWSOME Tribalfriend,

    KEEP GROWING PLEASE!

    XOXO from Mexico City

  • ur rreally good at this! good job

  • she's really good!

i wanna dance like that...the only thing

i didnt like so much was the movement of her arms..but other than that she's pretty amazing

  • not bad girl! keep doing what your doing!

  • good jod girl

  • This doesn't look tribal to me, and the music is Lebanese (Emad Sayyah if i'm not mistaken). The small isolations don't appear to aesthetically match the upbeat catchy cabaret music. Whatever. The dancer is good.

  • Nice! posted Plaza Dancers.

  • Incredible technique. But no feeling. It's hard for me to get excited because it has a very memorized, bored feeling to it. She needs more expression because she has amazing talent.

  • your getting a magnificent entertainment. Its a spectator sport- what are you credentials for critic'

  • Everyone and their mama is a critic on youtube!

  • I didn't know we needed credentials to express our opinions here, but then again I never read the FAQ.

I agree that it's magnificent entertainment, she's waaay talented and it's a really good choreography. I just wish she would have smiled at least once during the dance because the choreography and music were very upbeat. I still gave this video five stars, and I still enjoyed it. But no one is perfect, and I know I myself would appreciate constructive criticism because it's what makes us learn.

  • Sensitive & sarcastic

Dance when it is a sport has tecniques that the competitor must hit for point scoring

with the judges and not the spectator.

Dance as entertainment is for mutual enjoyment of the entertainer and spectator.

Tribal is a fusion of belly dancing and hip hop's pop & lock, with a Tribal [gothic]custume; therefore, their facial expressions are game face, e.g., none expressive.

Her facial expressions are actually more fluid than "traditional" Tribal dancing.

  • Yareli is a seasoned performer who has professional performances in many of Philly's finest restaurant establishments. This was a vidclip of an improv at a dance studio, so what's the big deal? Not a criticism, just an opinion...

  • I agree, you could be a wonderful dancer and yet,if you show no emotion the dance just looks flat. How can you get excited about a performance if the performer herself looks like she'd rather be doing something else?

  • wow!!!you are incredible!!!!

  • what is the name of this song? thanks...

  • She's magnificent!
