I don't know how many of you guys interpret the show but I interpret it as life.
Life is crazy at first. Life is complicated and it makes you angry, sad and frustrated but through love, you find some answers. However, as human beings, we will never truly find out how everything ends until we die. In life there are some things we can never understand and it is up to us to guess, just like the ending of this show.
I cried too. Never been so affected by a show before. Grew up with Lost and even though I wasn't as keen about the direction the show took towards the end, I still loved every minute of it. Miss it :(
For what other show would get a live audience to watch the series finale together on the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live and then interview the cast about their experiences right after the end....NONE

Some1 actually said season 5 suckd. R they mad?! Season 5 was the best i think.. And 4 being the worst but there still isnt a single episode i dont like. And i have seen every season about 4 or 5 times each.. So that is alot of lost time!

Nothing compares. Lost is the greatest piece of television to ever hit our TV screens. Let's turn the frozen donkey wheel, and return back to 9/22/04. I am ready to go back, screw letting go.
Only those that were loged deep into the show for the past 6 years felt that saddness when he died. I dont cry often but that finale brought a few tears to my eye when I 1st saw it.

Best show I ever watched in mhy life even though I was a late fan since season 4.
Season 6 did not exist. The show ended with the explosion at the end of season 5. This is what I must tell myself. Ha. Actually the season 6 premier was really good and made me think we were gonna have a scifi twist at the end concerning the sideways. Even though I don't like the ending this show brought me joy and great memories. A bad episode of Lost beats the best show out these days.
Ok I'll admit, it's been a little while since I've watched the show, sure some of the things I mentioned may have been answered, but my opinion stands. I still think there were too many loose ends for my liking. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great series. Thanks.

what is the island? Dharma? the island mythology, the numbers.... this was the most interesting part for me but pretty much unexplained. The series spend 99% of its time throwing up questions but didn't answer many at all. It was like they dug them self a hole they couldn't get out by the end and it felt like a bit of a cop out ending. I was obsessed with lost, but come on, in the end it was pretty average.
@bradman006 Clearly you need to actually watch the show instead of passively watch it play. The series answers pretty much any questions you have, you just have to watch.
@bradman006 First, most of these questions are answered. But also, why is it so required that they are? You seemed to miss the purpose of the show itself. The show was FANTASY, so it was assumed not real and the science doesn't need to be explained. It's like Harry Potter or Star Wars.
@GradGamer I think it's because the producers have said many times that they knew the answers to the mysteries but in the end they didn't. Star Wars and harry potter weren't focused on mystery. They were focused on the adventure and stuff like lightsabers are just accepted as futuristic technology. whereas Lost has its a major part of its story revolving around the intrigue of mysteries. If it turns out there is no answer to the mystery, then that intrigue is lost

Lost was a great show, don't get me wrong. I was just hoping for a bit more. They tied up the relationships etc. really well and it was a heart felt ending but I just feel as though the island mythology and other parts that interested me weren't as well developed. I suppose, as you say, they don't have to explain everything. Anyway, whatever.
Well, I had mixed emotions. I wanted to see more but by the sixth season I was already exhausted with the ups and downs and repetitive circumstances involving the characters. And on one hand having them killed off is good in a sense that it'd be too cliched to have them go on with their normal life in the way we live. On the other hand after realizing their death I felt like I had been watching a show about ghosts all along which makes it less appealing
did it answer all the questions about the series? Fuck no, but man did they turn up the emotional side with good closure. I can live without those answers, I love this show

Anyone who enjoyed this finale is not a true fan. Grow a pair and admit you were disappointing as fuck in season 6. "They all go to heaven" is such a deep plot device I wonder why no one has ever used it before. This was a case of awesome characters in a horrid plot.

@Slotzan I was especially annoyed because the writers when asked continually said that there was no purgatory, the characters weren't dead etc. Well, the ending wasn't too far from this. I was hoping for a mind blowing twist, or something clever and intelligent. This was kind of predictable and almost an easy way out imo.
Sorry to piss people off, but I really didn't like the Lost ending. The ending was way over the limit of willing suspense of disbelief for me, and I'm sorry but it was way too sappy for me as well. I wanted answers that never came and I still resent killing Locke off so early and turning his body into such evil. Maybe I would have liked the ending more if I was more emotionally invested, I only watched it over the course of around 6 months rather than 6 years. I wish I'd been there at the start.
I could suspend disbelief until the end because I thought it would all be explained, but instead they just introduced even more ridiculous concepts through the last few episodes. The quasi-religious aspects didn't help either.
Not all of them (and I did watch the epilogue). The light of the island just opened too many questions and was simply ridiculous IMO. The ending had deeply religious themes. Walking into the light? A church? The symbols of the 6 main religions? The afterlife? It was very religious, and whilst I really wanted to believe the ending, I just couldn't.

Rubbish. I was a fan of the characters, their arcs, and the mysteries, not just the bullshit ending and the nonsensical resolutions to the questions they bothered answering. Why the hell would I have watched 90 hours worth of a show I wasn't a fan of?
I would have cried had I been alone watching it (and I was still fighting back so many tears). I meant to go back and watch it later when I could let it all out, but I never did. I've got the Final Season box set sitting next to me, and I still haven't rewatched the finale. When I am ready to watch it again, I'm gonna make sure I can bawww my eyes out.
@TheVucaden: I AGREE!! THE WALKING DEAD captured that same...'humanity' feeling as LOST. All the characters are flawed we can all relate to their imperfections, secrets and struggles. Great show!!

Ive been rewatching the entire series over the passed month, I just finished the finale and I cried the entire time. It honestly has changed my life, it is absolutely beautiful.
@surgerryy Yes, you should. (Netflix streaming as the entire series. Start with episode 1 and watch the first 4 episodes. If you don't like the show, watch no more. If you DO like it...prepare for a wild ride. You'll finish the series within a month, guaranteed.)

Anyone who enjoyed this finale is not a true fan. Grow a pair and admit you were disappointing as fuck in season 6. "They all go to heaven" is such a deep plot device I wonder why no one has ever used it before. This was a case of awesome characters in a horrid plot.

@Slotzan i agree to an extent, people who like all the emotion and stuff will love the ending, but i think me and a lot of other people wanted answers more than emotion, and i certainly did and i was disapointed with the ending. i just think they could have done it better thats all, but i respect everyone elses opinion :)

@Slotzan I was especially annoyed because the writers when asked continually said that there was no purgatory, the characters weren't dead etc. Well, the ending wasn't too far from this. I was hoping for a mind blowing twist, or something clever and intelligent. This was kind of predictable and almost an easy way out imo.

Sorry to piss people off, but I really didn't like the Lost ending. The ending was way over the limit of willing suspense of disbelief for me, and I'm sorry but it was way too sappy for me as well. I wanted answers that never came and I still resent killing Locke off so early and turning his body into such evil. Maybe I would have liked the ending more if I was more emotionally invested, I only watched it over the course of around 6 months rather than 6 years. I wish I'd been there at the start.

I could suspend disbelief until the end because I thought it would all be explained, but instead they just introduced even more ridiculous concepts through the last few episodes. The quasi-religious aspects didn't help either.

Not all of them (and I did watch the epilogue). The light of the island just opened too many questions and was simply ridiculous IMO. The ending had deeply religious themes. Walking into the light? A church? The symbols of the 6 main religions? The afterlife? It was very religious, and whilst I really wanted to believe the ending, I just couldn't.

@mrwho995 no it was spiritual, not religious. Religions are about god and jesus etc etc. The ending of lost said religions dont matter, we are all equal.
The light was ridiculous? How did you manage to watch Ben moving the island by manipulating the light using a frozen donkey wheel?

Fair enough, spiritual, not religious. I still didn't buy it though. It appreciated the ending, but didn't enjoy it, if you know what I mean. Yeah, Ben moving the frozen donkey wheel was ridiculous, but it wasn't a pivotal part of so much of the show like the light was.

Rubbish. I was a fan of the characters, their arcs, and the mysteries, not just the bullshit ending and the nonsensical resolutions to the questions they bothered answering. Why the hell would I have watched 90 hours worth of a show I wasn't a fan of?

I would have cried had I been alone watching it (and I was still fighting back so many tears). I meant to go back and watch it later when I could let it all out, but I never did. I've got the Final Season box set sitting next to me, and I still haven't rewatched the finale. When I am ready to watch it again, I'm gonna make sure I can bawww my eyes out.

@surgerryy Yes, you should. (Netflix streaming as the entire series. Start with episode 1 and watch the first 4 episodes. If you don't like the show, watch no more. If you DO like it...prepare for a wild ride. You'll finish the series within a month, guaranteed.)
